A. Installation of the Channel A Fire Detector Harness
NOTE: When using fiberglass clamps on the engine core harnesses, do as follows: Wrap fiberglass adhesive tape (Material No.CP2208) around the harness(es) to make sure that clamps do not move when they are installed. Wrap only the locations where the clamps are being installed.
NOTE: Before you tighten the clamps, adjust the wire harness to get the maximum clearance between the harness and the other structures on the engine. Make sure that the harness will not touch other structures.
   (1) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (2) Put the harness in position on the engine.
   (3) Connect the electrical connector 452VC-A to the core junction box.
   (4) Remove the bolts (5) and put the harness into the the two clamps (10) on the pylon.
   (5) Remove the screw (55) and washer (40), put the harness into the clamp (60). Attach the clamp (60) to the bracket at station 233 with the screw (55) and washer (40).
NOTE: Make sure that the Installation Reference Markers are aligned under the clamp. The Installation Reference Markers are fiberglass tape on the harnesses.
   (6) Put the harness into the clamp (30). Attach the clamp (30) to the bracket at station 233 with the screw (15), the lug (20) and the spacer (25).
   (7) Put the two clamps (50) on the harness. Attach the harness to the brackets at station 239 with the screws (35), washers (40) and nuts (45).
   (8) TORQUE the screws (15) and (55) and the nuts (45) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.
   (9) Attach the wire (85) to terminal A with the nut (80). TORQUE the nut (80) to between 30 and 25 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.28 m.daN )
T.
   (10) Attach the wire (70) to terminal C with the nut (75). TORQUE the nut (75) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
T.
   (11) Turn the harness until the index mark is at the top center on the clamp (65). Attach the harness to the fire detector element 4001WD1-A with the screws (95) and the clamp (65).
   (12) TORQUE the screws (95) to between 10 and 8 lbf.in (0.11 and 0.09 m.daN )
T.
   (13) Safety the screws (95) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (14) Clean the mating surfaces of the ground wire terminal lug, the fire detector, and the fire detector mounting bracket.
     (a) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) wet with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to make clean the surfaces.
     (b) Use a clean lint-free cloth to dry the surface before the solvent becomes a gas.
   (15) Attach the ground wire (90) to the fire detector element 4001WD1-A with the screw (100) and the washer (40).
   (16) TORQUE the screw (100) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.

B. Do an electrical bond resistance check.
   (1) Put one lead of the ohmmeter on the ground wire (90) near the ground stud (100).
   (2) Put the other lead of the ohmmeter on the top surface of the bracket.
   (3) The resistance measured between the ohmmeter leads must not be more than 0.001 ohm.
   (4) If the resistance is more than 0.001 ohm, remove the applicable hardware and clean the mating surfaces. Do again this procedure until the resistance is less than 0.0025 ohm.
