3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) Disconnect the electrical connector from the battery (Ref. AMM TASK 24-38-51-000-001).
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Do not spray the cleaning solution directly on the electrical connection.

B. Get Access
   (1) Get access to the area of the leakage.
   (2) Remove the components from the area you will clean to prevent contamination from water and/or cleaning agents.
NOTE: Make sure that all electrical outlets are covered to protect them from water.
4. Procedure
Subtask 51-78-00-110-052-A
A. Cleaning Procedure
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A METAL SCRAPER TO REMOVE THE UNWANTED MATERIAL. A METAL SCRAPER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT.
   (1) Remove the loose materials with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC, a VACUUM EQUIPMENT 0 TO 0.4 BAR (6 PSI), or a BRUSH - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Clean the area with the Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) .
   (3) Flush the area with clean water.
   (4) Prepare one of the cleaning solution that follow:
  • mix water with 5 % potassium bichromate and 0.5 % of the Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1)
    or
  • mix water with 0.5 % of the Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) .
   (5) Clean the area with the cleaning solution.
   (6) Remove the solution with a clean lint-free cloth Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (7) Flush the area with clean water.
   (8) Dry the area with a HOT AIR BLOWER OPERATING 40 DEG C(104 F).
   (9) If necessary, repair the corrosion damage (Ref. AMM TASK 51-74-11-300-001).
   (10) If necessary, repair the paint layers (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003).
   (11) If necessary, repair the clear nylon coating to the sealant (Ref. AMM TASK 51-76-11-300-001).
   (12) If necessary, apply a layer of the Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) to the area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-001).
   (13) If necessary, apply a layer of the Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ACB1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) to the area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-13-916-002).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install all the components that were removed for the cleaning task.
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (2) Connect the electrical connector to the battery (Ref. AMM TASK 24-38-51-400-001).
   (3) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
