Subtask 24-38-51-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(2) Put the battery (1) in position between the stops (3) on the plate assembly (4).
(3) Put the rods (2) in position on the battery (1).
(4) Make sure that the rods (2) are engaged in the cover assembly slots of the battery (1).
(5) Make sure that the spacers (8) are in their correct position.
(6) Tighten the wing nuts (7) with your hand until they touch the battery (1). Then tighten them one quarter of a turn more.
(7) Safety the wing nuts (7) and the spacers (8) with the14QDB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(8) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(9) Put the clamp (6) in position on the ventilation duct (5).
(10) Connect the ventilation duct (5) to the battery (1).
(11) Install the clamp (6).
(12) Tighten the clamp (6).
(13) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(14) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(15) Connect the electrical connector (10) to the battery (1).
(16) Turn the knurled nut (9) to one quarter of a turn.
(17) Install the14QBE1 Wire-Wire shear Dia: 0.4 mm (0.015 inch) Copper - between the knurled nut (9) and the electrical connector (10) as follows:

Subtask 24-38-51-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Install the battery (2) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the shims of the stops (4) are in their correct position on the plate assembly (5).
(b) Put the battery (2) in position between the stops (4) on the plate assembly (5).
(c) Put the support (1) in position on the top of the battery (2).
(d) Put the rods (3) in position and engage them in the slots of the support (1).
(e) Make sure that the spacers (9) are in position above the slots of the support (1).
(f) Tighten the wing nuts (8) with your hand until they touch the battery (2). Then tighten them one quarter of a turn more.
(g) Safety the wing nuts (8) and the spacers (9) with the14QDC1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES - .
(4) Install the ventilation connection as follows:
(a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(b) Put the clamp (6) in position on the ventilation duct (7).
(c) Connect the ventilation duct (7) to the battery (2).
(d) Install the clamp (6).
(e) Tighten the clamp (6).
(5) Connect the electrical connector (11) as follows:
(a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(c) Connect the electrical connector (11) to the battery (2).
(d) Turn the knurled nut (10) clockwise one quarter of a turn.
(e) Install the14QBE1 Wire-Wire shear Dia: 0.4 mm (0.015 inch) Copper - between the knurled nut (10) and the electrical connector (11) as follows:

Subtask 24-38-51-420-050-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Install the battery (2) as follows:
(a) Make sure that the shims of the stops (3) are in their correct position on the plate assembly (5).
(b) Put the battery (2) in position between the stops (3) on the plate assembly (5).
(c) Put the support (1) in position on the top of the battery (2).
(d) Put the rods (4) in position and engage them in the slots of the support (1).
(e) Install the spacers (10), the washers (9) and the wing nuts (8) on the rods (4)
(f) Tighten the wing nuts (8) with your hand until they touch the battery (2). Then tighten them one quarter of a turn more.

Safety the wing nuts (8) with the AIPC 53-16-01-41-150 COTTER PIN (11) AIPC 53-16-81-41-410 COTTER PIN (11).
2 FOR [2PB2] (BAT-2)
Safety the wing nuts (8) with the AIPC 53-16-01-42-400 COTTER PIN (11) AIPC 53-16-81-42-410 COTTER PIN (11).
14QDC1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES - .
(4) Connect the ventilation duct (7) as follows:
(a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from the disconnected line end of the ventilation duct (7).
(b) Put the clamp (6) in position on the ventilation duct (7).
(c) Connect the ventilation duct (7) to the battery (2).
(d) Install the clamp (6).
(e) Tighten the clamp (6).
(a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(c) Connect the electrical connector (13) to the battery (2).
(d) Turn the knurled nut (12) clockwise one quarter of a turn.

WARNING:
BEFORE YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE BATTERY, MAKE SURE THAT CIRCUIT BREAKERS 5PB1, 5PB2, 12PB1 AND 12PB2 ARE OPEN, SAFETIED AND TAGGED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, A SHORT CIRCUIT CAN OCCUR. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

Subtask 24-38-51-860-052-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) In the cockpit, on overhead panel 35VU, make sure that these pushbutton switches are released:
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the avionics compartment doors 812 and 822.
(5) Make sure that access doors 812 and 822 are open.
(6) Make sure that the access panels of AC/DC emergency power center 106VU and BATTERY power center 105VU are open.
Subtask 24-38-51-865-051-A (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) In the cockpit, on overhead panel 35VU, make sure that these pushbutton switches are released:
- BAT 1
- BAT 2.
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the avionics compartment doors 812 and 822.
(5) Make sure that access doors 812 and 822 are open.
(6) Make sure that the access panels of AC/DC emergency power center 106VU and BATTERY power center 105VU are open.

NOTE: The battery is discharged if there is a new-spare supplier delivery, long-term storage or transportation.
The servicing of the battery, before the installation on the aircraft, must be done in the workshop.
(1) Make sure that the shims of the stops (3) are in their correct position on the plate assembly (4).The servicing of the battery, before the installation on the aircraft, must be done in the workshop.
(2) Put the battery (1) in position between the stops (3) on the plate assembly (4).
(3) Put the rods (2) in position on the battery (1).

- When there is a hole for it, install the wire between the knurled nut (10) and the electrical connector (11).
- When there is no hole, install the wire around the knurled nut (10) and the electrical connector (11).

(f) Tighten the wing nuts (8) with your hand until they touch the battery (2). Then tighten them one quarter of a turn more.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(g) Installation of the cotter pins (11):1 FOR [2PB1] (BAT-1)
Safety the wing nuts (8) with the AIPC 53-16-01-41-150 COTTER PIN (11) AIPC 53-16-81-41-410 COTTER PIN (11).
2 FOR [2PB2] (BAT-2)
Safety the wing nuts (8) with the AIPC 53-16-01-42-400 COTTER PIN (11) AIPC 53-16-81-42-410 COTTER PIN (11).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(h) Safety the wing nuts (8) and the spacers (10) with the (4) Connect the ventilation duct (7) as follows:
(a) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from the disconnected line end of the ventilation duct (7).
(b) Put the clamp (6) in position on the ventilation duct (7).
(c) Connect the ventilation duct (7) to the battery (2).
(d) Install the clamp (6).
(e) Tighten the clamp (6).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Connect the electrical connector (13) as follows: (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(c) Connect the electrical connector (13) to the battery (2).
(d) Turn the knurled nut (12) clockwise one quarter of a turn.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(e) Install the ESPM 2045930
- When there is a hole for it, install the wire between the knurled nut (12) and the electrical connector (13).
- When there is no hole, install the wire around the knurled nut (12) and the electrical connector (13).
B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

(5) Remove the access platform(s).
