Subtask 24-38-51-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(b) Turn the knurled nut (12) counterclockwise one quarter of a turn.
(c) Disconnect the electrical connector (13) from the battery (2).
(d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(e) Safety the electrical connector (13) to the aircraft structure.
(2) Disconnect the ventilation duct (7) as follows:
(a) Loosen the clamp (6) and disconnect the ventilation duct (7) from the battery (2).
(b) Remove the clamp (6) from the ventilation duct (7).
(c) Put the PLUG - BLANKING in the disconnected line end of the ventilation duct (7).
(d) Safety the ventilation duct (7) to the aircraft structure.
(3) Remove the battery (2) as follows:
(c) Remove the wing nuts (8), the washers (9) and the spacers (10).
(d) Disengage the rods (4) from the slots of the support (1).
(e) Safety the rods (4) to the plate assembly (5).
(f) Remove the support (1) from the battery (2) and retain it for the subsequent installation.
(g) Remove the battery (2) from the stops (3).
(h) Put the battery (2) in a storage. For this, obey the battery manufacturer's instructions.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) In the cockpit, on overhead panel 35VU, release these pushbutton switches:

(2) In the cockpit, on overhead panel 35VU, release these pushbutton switches:
- BAT 1
- BAT 2.
B. Get access to the avionics compartment.
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the avionics compartment doors 812 and 822.
(2) Open access doors 812 and 822.
(3) Open the access panels of AC/DC emergency power center 106VU and BATTERY power center 105VU.
Subtask 24-38-51-865-050-A (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the avionics compartment doors 812 and 822.
(2) Open access doors 812 and 822.

A. Removal of the Battery
(2) Turn the knurled nut (9) to a quarter turn.
(3) Disconnect the connector (10).
(4) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(5) Loosen the clamp (6) and disconnect the ventilation duct (5) from the battery (1).
(6) Remove the clamp (6) from the ventilation duct (5).
(7) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(8) Cut and remove the lockwire from the wing nuts (7).
(9) Loosen the wing nuts (7).
(10) Release the rods (2) that hold the battery (1).
(11) Remove the battery (1).
(12) Put the battery (1) into storage. Obey the battery manufacturer instructions.

YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN HOLD THE COMPONENT BEFORE YOU REMOVE/INSTALL IT. THE COMPONENT IS HEAVY. IF IT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(1) If installed, cut and remove the copper wire between the knurled nut (9) and the connector (10).(2) Turn the knurled nut (9) to a quarter turn.
(3) Disconnect the connector (10).
(4) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(5) Loosen the clamp (6) and disconnect the ventilation duct (5) from the battery (1).
(6) Remove the clamp (6) from the ventilation duct (5).
(7) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(8) Cut and remove the lockwire from the wing nuts (7).
(9) Loosen the wing nuts (7).
(10) Release the rods (2) that hold the battery (1).
(11) Remove the battery (1).
(12) Put the battery (1) into storage. Obey the battery manufacturer instructions.

(a) Cut and discard the copper wire between the knurled nut (10) and the electrical connector (11).
(b) Turn the knurled nut (10) counterclockwise one quarter of a turn.
(c) Disconnect the electrical connector (11) from the battery (2).
(d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(e) Safety the electrical connector (11) to the aircraft structure.
(2) Remove the ventilation duct (7) as follows:
(a) Loosen the clamp (6) and disconnect the ventilation duct (7) from the battery (2).
(b) Remove the clamp (6) from the ventilation duct (7).
(c) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(d) Safety the ventilation duct (7) to the aircraft structure.
(3) Remove the battery (2) as follows:
(a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the wing nuts (8) and the spacers (9).
(b) Loosen the wing nuts (8).
(c) Disengage the rods (3) from the slots of the support (1).
(d) Safety the rods (3) to the plate assembly (5).
(e) Remove the support (1) from the battery (2) and retain it for the subsequent installation.
(f) Remove the battery (2).
(g) Put the battery (2) in a storage. For this obey the battery manufacturer's instructions.

(1) Disconnect the electrical connector (11) as follows: (a) Cut and discard the copper wire between the knurled nut (10) and the electrical connector (11).
(b) Turn the knurled nut (10) counterclockwise one quarter of a turn.
(c) Disconnect the electrical connector (11) from the battery (2).
(d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(e) Safety the electrical connector (11) to the aircraft structure.
(2) Remove the ventilation duct (7) as follows:
(a) Loosen the clamp (6) and disconnect the ventilation duct (7) from the battery (2).
(b) Remove the clamp (6) from the ventilation duct (7).
(c) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(d) Safety the ventilation duct (7) to the aircraft structure.
(3) Remove the battery (2) as follows:
(a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the wing nuts (8) and the spacers (9).
(b) Loosen the wing nuts (8).
(c) Disengage the rods (3) from the slots of the support (1).
(d) Safety the rods (3) to the plate assembly (5).
(e) Remove the support (1) from the battery (2) and retain it for the subsequent installation.
(f) Remove the battery (2).
(g) Put the battery (2) in a storage. For this obey the battery manufacturer's instructions.

A. Removal of the Battery NOTE: The weight of the battery is approximately 28.22 kg (62.2144 lb).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Disconnect the electrical connector (13) as follows: WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Cut and discard the lockwire between the knurled nut (12) and the electrical connector (13). (b) Turn the knurled nut (12) counterclockwise one quarter of a turn.
(c) Disconnect the electrical connector (13) from the battery (2).
(d) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(e) Safety the electrical connector (13) to the aircraft structure.
(2) Disconnect the ventilation duct (7) as follows:
(a) Loosen the clamp (6) and disconnect the ventilation duct (7) from the battery (2).
(b) Remove the clamp (6) from the ventilation duct (7).
(c) Put the PLUG - BLANKING in the disconnected line end of the ventilation duct (7).
(d) Safety the ventilation duct (7) to the aircraft structure.
(3) Remove the battery (2) as follows:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (11) from the rods (4). WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(b) Cut and discard the lockwire from the wing nuts (8) and the spacers (10).(c) Remove the wing nuts (8), the washers (9) and the spacers (10).
(d) Disengage the rods (4) from the slots of the support (1).
(e) Safety the rods (4) to the plate assembly (5).
(f) Remove the support (1) from the battery (2) and retain it for the subsequent installation.
(g) Remove the battery (2) from the stops (3).
(h) Put the battery (2) in a storage. For this, obey the battery manufacturer's instructions.
B. Make sure that there is no electrolyte leakage in the ventilation duct.
NOTE: If there is an electrolyte leakage, remove the duct, clean it and rinse it with water.
Battery
