B. Visually Inspect the Seals
   (1) Inspect the seal for signs of oxidation, carbon flakes and foreign substances left on the seal from contact with the mating flanges.
   (2) Inspect the surface and the edges of the seal for dents, pitting, cracks, scratches and distorsion.
   (3) If any substance cannot be removed from the seals or if damage or distorsion exists, the seal should be replaced.
Subtask 36-11-51-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Installation of the High Pressure Bleed Valve
   (1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
   (2) In the cockpit, on the SD bleed page:
     (a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
   (3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (4) Install the couplings.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE KEYWAY ON THE VALVE IS ENGAGED WITH THE KEY ON THE DUCT. IF THE POSITION OF THE KEYWAY IS NOT CORRECT, DAMAGE TO THE VALVE AND ITS PARTS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE SMOOTH CIRCULAR SURFACE OF THE COUPLING IS RADIALLY OUTBOARD FROM THE ENGINE. DO NOT LET THE COUPLING TOUCH ENGINE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE. DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE COULD OCCUR.
CAUTION: TWO TYPES OF COUPLINGS ARE USED ON THE BLEED AIR DUCTS. IT IS POSSIBLE TO INSTALL ONE OF THESE COUPLINGS INCORRECTLY. WHEN YOU INSTALL THIS TYPE OF COUPLING, MAKE SURE THE SLIDE PART OF THE COUPLING (WITH THE SADDLE WASHER) ENGAGES THE RECESS OF THE OTHER HALF OF THE COUPLING. IF THE COUPLING IS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, IT CAN DISENGAGE AND CAUSE LARGE AIR LEAKS AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE.
     (a) Attach the HP bleed valve (10) to the duct (30) with the coupling (20) and the E-seal (25).
     (b) Tighten the coupling (20) sufficiently to attach the HP bleed valve (10) to the duct (30).
     (c) Make sure that the flow arrow on the valve points to the duct (30) and that index slot is aligned.
     (d) Attach the duct (35) to the HP bleed valve (10) and the ducts (50) and (55) with the couplings (20) and (40) and the E-seals (25) and (45).
     (e) Make sure that the index slot is aligned.
     (f) Examine the couplings (20) and (40). Try to move the slide. If the slide moves, open the coupling.
     (g) Close the coupling with the saddle washer in the correct position between the nut and the coupling body.
     (h) Tighten the all coupling nuts to 50 percent of the torque value written on the face of the coupling.
     (i) Hit the external face of the coupling lightly with a MALLET - PLASTIC
     (j) TORQUE the couplings to 100 percent of the torque value written on the face of the coupling.
     (k) Lightly hit coupling again.
     (l) Do this procedure again, then TORQUE the coupling to 100 percent of the value written on the face of the coupling.
   (5) Connect the sense line.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTER TORQUE TO THE UNION ON THE VALVE WHEN YOU CONNECT THE HP SENSE TUBE.
   (6) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors.
   (7) Make sure that the electrical connectors are clean and in the correct condition.
   (8) Connect the electrical connector (4000HA-A) to the HP bleed valva (10). Tighten the connector fingertight plus one-eighth turn.

D. Preparation for the Leak Test
   (1) Find the location of a pneumatic joint air-leak with one of the two procedures that follow:
     (a) Apply Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.08CKB9) or dry developer (Material No.CP3010) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-51-00-230-001) around the pneumatic joints, only on the connections of the removed pneumatic components.
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you do not apply dry developer on all the pneumatic components.
     (b) Install an FOIL - ALUMINUM around the pneumatic joint locations:
1 Wind the foil wrap around the joint one time.
2 Twist the seam of the foil wrap to make it tight.
3 Make the foil wrap as tight as possible on the tube but do not cause damage to the wrap.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
4 Attach the foil wrap with a CP8004lockwire 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) dia on the two sides of the pneumatic joint.
