C. Installation of the IP Bleed Check-Valve
(2) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
(6) Put the IP bleed check-valve (25) in position between the mid stage tee duct (5) and the fifth stage elbow duct (10):
(a) Make sure that the flow arrow is on the inboard side and points up.
(b) Make sure that the flow arrow on the valve points to the mid-stage tee duct.
(7) Install the couplings (20) as follows:
(b) Make sure that the locking screw of the coupling (20) is in the 9 o'clock position when you look into the direction of the flow. The 12 o'clock position is outboard to the engine center line.
(c) Attach the IP bleed check-valve (25) to the fifth-stage elbow duct (10) with the coupling (20) and a AIPC 36-11-41-02-025 E-SEALS (15).
(d) Make sure that the locking screw of the coupling (20) is in the 9 o'clock position when you look into the direction of the flow. The 12 o'clock position is outboard to the engine center line.
(8) TORQUE the nuts (35) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )
(9) TORQUE the coupling nuts as follows:
(a) TORQUE the coupling nuts to the value shown on the coupling.
(b) Tap the perimeters of the couplings with a HAMMER - FIBER, then TORQUE the coupling nuts again.
(c) Do the torque procedure two times, then TORQUE the coupling nuts again.

(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).

(b) Make sure that the flow arrow on the valve points to the mid-stage tee duct.
(7) Install the couplings (20) as follows:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE LOCKING SCREWS OF THE COUPLING ARE IN THE 9 O'CLOCK POSITION, WHEN YOU LOOK INTO THE DIRECTION OF THE FLOW. IF THE LOCKING SCREWS ARE NOT IN THE CORRECT POSITION, DAMAGE TO ENGINE COMPONENTS AND THE ADJACENT STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Attach the IP bleed check-valve (25) to the mid-stage tee duct (5) with the coupling (20) and a AIPC 36-11-41-02-025 E-SEALS (15).(b) Make sure that the locking screw of the coupling (20) is in the 9 o'clock position when you look into the direction of the flow.
