C. Installation of the IP Bleed Check-Valve
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE COUNTERSUNK SIDE OF THE WASHER IS AGAINST THE HEAD OF THE BOLT. IF YOU DO NOT PUT THE WASHER IN CORRECTLY, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (1) If removed, install the tee duct (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-400-043).
   (2) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
   (3) In the cockpit, on the SD bleed page:
     (a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
   (4) Attach the links (50) and (55) to the tee duct (5) with the bolts (45), the washers (40), and the nuts (35). Do not TORQUE the nuts (35) at this time.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE KEYWAY ON THE VALVE IS ENGAGED WITH THE KEY ON THE DUCT. IF THE POSITION OF THE KEYWAY IS NOT CORRECT, DAMAGE TO THE VALVE AND ITS PARTS CAN OCCUR.
   (5) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (6) Put the IP bleed check-valve (25) in position between the mid stage tee duct (5) and the fifth stage elbow duct (10):
     (a) Make sure that the flow arrow is on the inboard side and points up.
     (b) Make sure that the flow arrow on the valve points to the mid-stage tee duct.
   (7) Install the couplings (20) as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LOCKING SCREWS OF THE COUPLING ARE IN THE 9 O'CLOCK POSITION, WHEN YOU LOOK INTO THE DIRECTION OF THE FLOW. IF THE LOCKING SCREWS ARE NOT IN THE CORRECT POSITION, DAMAGE TO ENGINE COMPONENTS AND THE ADJACENT STRUCTURE CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Attach the IP bleed check-valve (25) to the mid-stage tee duct (5) with the coupling (20) and a AIPC 36-11-41-02-025 E-SEALS (15).
     (b) Make sure that the locking screw of the coupling (20) is in the 9 o'clock position when you look into the direction of the flow. The 12 o'clock position is outboard to the engine center line.
     (c) Attach the IP bleed check-valve (25) to the fifth-stage elbow duct (10) with the coupling (20) and a
AIPC 36-11-41-02-025 E-SEALS (15).
     (d) Make sure that the locking screw of the coupling (20) is in the 9 o'clock position when you look into the direction of the flow. The 12 o'clock position is outboard to the engine center line.
   (8) TORQUE the nuts (35) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )
T
   (9) TORQUE the coupling nuts as follows:
     (a) TORQUE the coupling nuts to the value shown on the coupling.
     (b) Tap the perimeters of the couplings with a HAMMER - FIBER, then TORQUE the coupling nuts again.
     (c) Do the torque procedure two times, then TORQUE the coupling nuts again.

D. Preparation for the leak test
   (1) Find the location of a pneumatic joint air-leak with one of the two procedures that follow:
     (a) Apply a Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.
08CKB9) or dry cleaner (Material No.CP3010) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-51-00-230-002) around the pneumatic joints, only on the connections of the removed pneumatic components.
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you do not apply the dry developer on all the pneumatic components.
     (b) Install an FOIL - ALUMINUM around the pneumatic joint locations:
1 Wind the foil wrap around the joint one time.
2 Twist the seam of the foil wrap to make it tight.
3 Make the foil wrap as tight as possible on the tube but do not cause damage to the foil wrap.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
4 Attach the foil wrap with a CP8004lockwire 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) dia on the two sides of the pneumatic joint.

G. Do this Test
   (1) Start the related engine with the automatic or the manual start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-003) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-004) and keep it at idle.
NOTE: The engine speed at idle does not open the IP bleed check-valve but is sufficient to do a leak check on the two sides of the valve.
   (2) In the cockpit, on AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Push the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton-switch (OFF legend goes off).
   (3) On the ECAM control panel, push the BLEED key (on the lower ECAM DU, the BLEED page comes into view).
   (4) On the lower ECAM DU, on the BLEED page:
  • Make sure that the bleed system operates correctly.
   (5) Do the engine shutdown procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-028).

J. Make sure that there are no leaks downstream and upstream at the junctions between the IP bleed valve and the duct on the related engine.
NOTE: There is a leak when the foil installed on the duct breaks or when it is too hot.
There is a leak when the leak air removes the dry developer from the junction.
   (1) Remove the materials used to do the leak check.
