3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) On the panel 400VU:
  • make sure that the landing-gear control-lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear controls.
   (3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) at the limits of the MLG travel ranges.
   (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is in position.
   (5) Make sure that the safety device is installed on the applicable MLG lockstay actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is below the applicable MLG.
   (2) If electrical power is necessary do the flight configuration precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001), before you jack the aircraft.
   (3) Lift the aircraft on jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-12-14-420-058-A
A. Preparation For Installation
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and/or the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

B. Preparation for a Replacement Component
F Fixed Fairing - Adjustment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Remove and discard the lockwire from the lock nuts (10) and (29).
   (2) Loosen the lock nuts (10) and (29).
   (3) Adjust the eye-ends (3) out of the spools (2) until dimension W is 40.0 mm (1.5748 in.).
   (4) Remove the bolts (5) and the washers (4).
   (5) Remove and discard the lockwire from the lock nuts (12).
   (6) Loosen the lock nuts (12) until the studs (20) can turn. Make sure that the serrated plates (16) do not disengage.

   (4) Remove the bolts (6) and the washers (5).
   (5) Remove and discard the lockwire from the lock nuts (13).
   (6) Loosen the lock nuts (13) until the studs (21) can turn. Make sure that the serrated plates (17) do not disengage.
   (7) Install the hinge 1A extension-fairing (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-400-006).

   (2) Remove and discard the lockwire from the lock nuts (10) and (29).

   (4) Adjust the eye-ends (3) out of the spools (2) until dimension W is 40.0 mm (1.5748 in.).
   (5) Remove the bolts (5) and the washers (4).

   (8) Install the hinge 1A extension-fairing (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-400-006).

C. Installation of a Replacement MLG Fixed-Fairing-Assembly
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (1) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the parts that follow:
     (a) Make sure that the sealant does not go into the spherical bearings of the eye-ends (3) and the rod-ends (28).
  • The bolts (5) and the washers (4)
  • The bolts (9), the washers (8) and the nuts (7)
  • The eye-ends (3) and the rod-ends (28)
  • The bolts (27), the washers (24) and the nuts (23)
  • The studs (20) and the lock nuts (29)
  • The bushes (25), (26) and (32)
  • The cover plates (11) and the screws (30).
   (2) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
WARNING: THE WEIGHT OF THE FIXED FAIRING IS 34kg (75lb).
   (3) Hold the MLG fixed fairing (1) in position on the MLG.
   (4) At position D, install the bush (25), the bolt (27), the washer (24) and the nut (23).
   (5) At position C, install the bush (26), the bolt (27), the washer (24) and the nut (23).
NOTE: For the right MLG, the bush (26) and the bolt (27) are installed from the same direction.
   (6) At position D, install the 98D32104083000 SPACER, RIGGING on the bolt (27). This will make sure that dimensions Z and Y are correct and between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 2.7 mm (0.1063 in.).
F Fixed Fairing - Adjustment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (7) Install the bushes (32), the bolts (9), the washers (8) and the nuts (7).
   (8) Tighten the lock nuts (12) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG retraction.
   (9) Slowly retract the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-001).
     (a) During the retraction of the MLG, make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) does not:
  • Make an overlap with the lower wing surface
  • Hit the hinge door
  • Hit the fixed underwing panel.
   (10) Remove the lock nuts (12), the locking devices (13) and (14) and the serrated plates (16).
   (11) Turn the studs (20) until they are fully on the rod-ends (28).
   (12) Turn the spools (2) to get the dimensions that follow:

     (a) Make sure that dimension V is between 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.).
     (b) At position H, make sure that dimension T is between -1.5 mm (-0.0591 in.) and -4.5 mm (-0.1772 in.).
     (c) At position J, make sure that dimension T is between -0.5 mm (-0.0197 in.) and -4.5 mm (-0.1772 in.).
     (d) Make sure that dimension S is between 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.).
     (e) Make sure that dimension R is between 14.0 mm (0.5512 in.) and 31.0 mm (1.2205 in.).
     (f) Make sure that dimension P is between -2.5 mm (-0.0984 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).
     (g) Make sure that dimension Q is between:
  • 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.) at the inboard end of the shroud box
  • 3.2 mm (0.1260 in.) and 10.2 mm (0.4016 in.) at the outboard end of the shroud box.
     (h) Make sure that dimension G is between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 10.7 mm (0.4213 in.).
     (i) Make sure that dimension H is between -3.5 mm (-0.1378 in.) and 3.5 mm (0.1378 in.).
   (13) Turn the studs (20) on the rod-ends (28) until the shoulders of the studs (20) touch the support plates (19).
   (14) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to:
  • The serrated plates (16)
  • The lock nuts (12), the locking devices (13) and (14) and the studs (20).
   (15) Install the serrated plates (16), the locking devices (14) and (13) and the lock nuts (12).
     (a) Make sure that the arrows on the serrated plates (16) are aligned with the serrations on the mating part.
   (16) Tighten the lock nuts (12) sufficiently to make sure that the serrated plates (16) do not disengage. Make sure that you can turn the studs (20).
   (17) Make sure that the dimensions are in the limits, refer to step (12).
     (a) If necessary, use the spools (2) to adjust the MLG fixed fairing (1) to the correct position.
   (18) If necessary, adjust the studs (20) until the stud shoulder touches the support plate (19).
   (19) Tighten the lock nuts (12) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG extension.
   (20) Extend the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-002).
   (21) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (22) Turn the spools (2), to the minimum, to align a slot with the thread holes in the MLG fixed fairing (1).
   (23) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (5).
   (24) At position D:
     (a) Remove the 98D32104083000 SPACER, RIGGING from the bolt (27).
     (b) Make sure that dimensions Z and Y are between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 2.7 mm (0.1063 in.).
F Fixed Fairing - Adjustment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (25) Make sure that you can see the threads of the rod-ends (28) through the inspection holes in the studs (20).
   (26) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in ) T.
   (27) TORQUE the lock nuts (12) to between 4.3 and 4.0 m.daN (31.71 and 29.50 lbf.ft )
T.
     (a) When you tighten the lock nuts (12), apply opposite force with the help of the flats on the studs (20).
   (28) Safety the lock nuts (12) to the locking devices (14) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (29) Hold the rod-ends (28) in position and TORQUE the lock nuts (29) to between 0.5 and 0.4 m.daN (44.25 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
   (30) Make sure that the rod-ends (28) are aligned with the MLG bracket lugs.
     (a) When you tighten the lock nuts (29), apply opposite force with the help of the flats on the studs (20).
   (31) Measure dimension X and make sure that it is not more than 44.7 mm (1.7598 in.).
F Fixed Fairing - Adjustment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (32) Safety the lock nuts (29) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (33) Install the cover plates (11) and the screws (30).
   (34) TORQUE the screws (30) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in ) T.
   (35) Hold the eye-ends (3) in position and TORQUE the lock nuts (10) to between 0.5 and 0.4 m.daN (44.25 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
   (36) Make sure that the eye-ends (3) are aligned with the MLG bracket lugs.
   (37) Measure dimension W and make sure that it is not more than 40.0 mm (1.5748 in.).

   (38) Safety the bolts (5) and the lock nuts (10) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (39) At position C:
     (a) TORQUE the nut (23) to between 1.35 and 1.15 m.daN (119.47 and 101.77 lbf.in ) T.
     (b) Safety the nut (23) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-80-010 COTTER PIN (21).
   (40) At the position D:
     (a) TORQUE the nut (23) to between 2.00 and 1.80 m.daN (14.75 and 13.27 lbf.ft )
T.
     (b) Safety the nut (23) with the new
AIPC 32-11-11-80-045 COTTER PIN (22).
   (41) TORQUE the nuts (7) to between 1.35 and 1.15 m.daN (119.47 and 101.77 lbf.in )
T.
   (42) Safety the nuts (7) with the new
AIPC 52-81-13-01-010 COTTER PINS (6).
   (43) Install the bonding straps (17) on the screws (15) and install the nuts (18).
   (44) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).

C. Installation of a Replacement MLG Fixed-Fairing-Assembly

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (1) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the parts that follow:
     (a) Make sure that the sealant does not go into the spherical bearings of the eye-ends (4) and the rod-ends (29).
  • The bolts (6) and the washers (5)
  • The bolts (10), the washers (9) and the nuts (8)
  • The eye-ends (4) and the rod-ends (29)
  • The bolts (28), the washers (25) and the nuts (24)
  • The studs (21) and the lock nuts (30)
  • The bushes (26), (27) and (32)
  • The cover plates (12) and the screws (31).
   (2) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
WARNING: THE WEIGHT OF THE FIXED FAIRING IS 34kg (75lb).
   (3) Hold the MLG fixed fairing (1) in position on the MLG.
   (4) At position D, install the bush (26), the bolt (28), the washer (25) and the nut (24).
   (5) At position C, install the bush (27), the bolt (28), the washer (25) and the nut (24).
NOTE: For the right MLG, the bush (27) and the bolt (28) are installed from the same direction.
   (6) At position D, install the 98D32104083000 SPACER, RIGGING on the bolt (28). This will make sure that dimensions Z and Y are correct and between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 2.7 mm (0.1063 in.).
F Fixed Fairing - Adjustment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (7) Install the bushes (32), the bolts (10), the washers (9) and the nuts (8).
   (8) Tighten the lock nuts (13) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG retraction.
   (9) Slowly retract the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-001).
     (a) During the retraction of the MLG, make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) does not:
  • Make an overlap with the lower wing surface
  • Hit the hinge door
  • Hit the fixed underwing panel.
   (10) Remove the lock nuts (13), the locking devices (14) and (15) and the serrated plates (17).
   (11) Turn the studs (21) until they are fully on the rod-ends (29).

     (b) At position H, make sure that dimension T is between -1.5 mm (-0.0591 in.) and -4.5 mm (-0.1772 in.).
     (c) At position J, make sure that dimension T is between -0.5 mm (-0.0197 in.) and -4.5 mm (-0.1772 in.).
     (d) Make sure that dimension S is between 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.).
     (e) Make sure that dimension R is between 14.0 mm (0.5512 in.) and 31.0 mm (1.2205 in.).
     (f) Make sure that dimension P is between -2.5 mm (-0.0984 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).
     (g) Make sure that dimension Q is between:
  • 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.) at the inboard end of the shroud box
  • 3.2 mm (0.1260 in.) and 10.2 mm (0.4016 in.) at the outboard end of the shroud box.
     (h) Make sure that dimension G is between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 10.7 mm (0.4213 in.).
     (i) Make sure that dimension H is between -3.5 mm (-0.1378 in.) and 3.5 mm (0.1378 in.).
   (13) Turn the studs (21) on the rod-ends (29) until the shoulders of the studs (21) touch the support plates (20).
   (14) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to:
  • The serrated plates (17)
  • The lock nuts (13), the locking devices (14) and (15) and the studs (21).
   (15) Install the serrated plates (17), the locking devices (15) and (14) and the lock nuts (13).
     (a) Make sure that the arrows on the serrated plates (17) are aligned with the serrations on the mating part.
   (16) Tighten the lock nuts (13) sufficiently to make sure that the serrated plates (17) do not disengage. Make sure that you can turn the studs (21).
   (17) Make sure that the dimensions are in the limits, refer to step (12).
     (a) If necessary, use the spools (3) to adjust the MLG fixed fairing (1) to the correct position.
   (18) If necessary, adjust each stud (21) until the stud shoulder touches the support plate (20).
   (19) Adjust the position of the hinge 1A extension-fairing (46):
     (a) Measure dimension A and make sure that dimension A is a maximum of 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.).
     (b) If necessary, adjust the position of the hinge 1A extension-fairing (46) as follows:
       1 Loosen the bolts (44) and (48), and the nuts (45).
       2 Adjust the position of the hinge 1A extension-fairing (46) until dimension A is correct.
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (44) and (48) and the nuts (45) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the bolts (44) and (48) and the nuts (45).
     (e) Paint three black lines, as shown, with Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative External Structure (Material No.04JMD3) on the MLG fixed fairing (1).
   (20) Tighten the lock nuts (13) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG extension.
   (21) Extend the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-002).
   (22) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (23) Turn the spools (3), to the minimum, to align a slot with the thread hole in the MLG fixed fairing (1).
   (24) Install the washers (5) and the bolts (6).
   (25) At position D:
     (a) Remove the 98D32104083000 SPACER, RIGGING from the bolt (28).
     (b) Make sure that dimensions Z and Y are between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 2.7 mm (0.1063 in.).
F Fixed Fairing - Adjustment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (26) Make sure that you can see the threads of the rod-ends (29) through the inspection holes in the studs (21).
   (27) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 0.23 and 0.17 m.daN (20.35 and 15.04 lbf.in ) T.
   (28) TORQUE the lock nuts (13) to between 4.3 and 4.0 m.daN (31.71 and 29.50 lbf.ft )

     (a) When you tighten the lock nuts (13), apply opposite force with the help of the flats on the studs (21).

   (3) Hold the MLG fixed fairing (1) in position on the MLG.
   (4) At position D, install the bush (25), the bolt (27), the washer (24) and the nut (23).
   (5) At position C, install the bush (26), the bolt (27), the washer (24) and the nut (23).
NOTE: For the right MLG, the bush (26) and the bolt (27) are installed from the same direction.
   (6) At position D, install the 98D32104083000 SPACER, RIGGING on the bolt (27). This will make sure that dimensions Z and Y are correct. They must be between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 2.7 mm (0.1063 in.).
F Fixed Fairing - Adjustment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (7) Install the bushes (32), the bolts (9), the washers (8) and the nuts (7).
   (8) Tighten the lock nuts (12) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG retraction.
   (9) Slowly retract the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-001).
     (a) During the retraction of the MLG, make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) does not:
  • Make an overlap with the lower wing surface
  • Hit the hinge door
  • Hit the fixed underwing panel.
   (10) Remove the lock nuts (12), the locking devices (13) and (14) and the serrated plates (16).
   (11) Turn the studs (20) until they are fully on the rod-ends (28).
   (12) Turn the spools (2) to get the dimensions that follow:

   (15) Install the serrated plates (16), the locking devices (14) and (13) and the lock nuts (12).
     (a) Make sure that the arrows on the serrated plates (16) are aligned with the serrations on the mating part.
   (16) Tighten the lock nuts (12) sufficiently to make sure that the serrated plates (16) do not disengage. Make sure that you can turn the studs (20).
   (17) Make sure that the dimensions are in the limits, refer to step (12).
     (a) If necessary, use the spools (2) to adjust the MLG fixed fairing (1) to the correct position.
   (18) If necessary, adjust the studs (20) until the stud shoulder touches the support plates (19).
   (19) Tighten the lock nuts (12) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG extension.
   (20) Extend the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-002).

     (e) Make sure that dimension R is between 14.0 mm (0.5512 in.) and 31.0 mm (1.2205 in.).
     (f) Make sure that dimension P is between -2.5 mm (-0.0984 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).
     (g) Make sure that dimension Q is between:
  • 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.) at the inboard end of the shroud box
  • 3.2 mm (0.1260 in.) and 10.2 mm (0.4016 in.) at the outboard end of the shroud box.
     (h) Make sure that dimension G is between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 10.7 mm (0.4213 in.).
     (i) Make sure that dimension H is between -3.5 mm (-0.1378 in.) and 3.5 mm (0.1378 in.).
   (13) Turn the studs (20) on the rod-ends (28) until the shoulders of the studs (20) touch the support plates (19).
   (14) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to:
  • The serrated plates (16)
  • The lock nuts (12), the locking devices (13) and (14) and the studs (20).
   (15) Install the serrated plates (16), the locking devices (14) and (13) and the lock nuts (12).
     (a) Make sure that the arrows on the serrated plates (16) are aligned with the serrations on the mating part.
   (16) Tighten the lock nuts (12) sufficiently to make sure that the serrated plates (16) do not disengage. Make sure that you can turn the studs (20).
   (17) Make sure that the dimensions are in the limits, refer to step (12).
     (a) If necessary, use the spools (2) to adjust the MLG fixed fairing (1) to the correct position.
   (18) If necessary, adjust each stud (20) until the stud shoulder touches the support plates (19).
   (19) Tighten the lock nuts (12) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG extension.
   (20) Extend the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-002).
   (21) Make sure that the safety devices are installed the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (22) Turn the spools (2), to the minimum, to align a slot with the thread holes in the MLG fixed fairing (1).
   (23) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (5).
   (24) At position D:
     (a) Remove the 98D32104083000 SPACER, RIGGING from the bolt (27).
     (b) Make sure that dimensions Z and Y are between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 2.7 mm (0.1063 in.).

   (1) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the parts that follow:
     (a) Make sure that the sealant does not go into the spherical bearings of the eye-ends (4) and the rod-ends (29).
  • The bolts (6) and the washers (5)
  • The bolts (10), the washers (9) and the nuts (8)
  • The eye-ends (4) and the rod-ends (29)
  • The support plates (20)
  • The bolts (28), the washers (25) and the nuts (24)
  • The bushes (26), (27) and (32)
  • The cover plates (12) and the screws (31).
   (2) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
WARNING: THE WEIGHT OF THE FIXED FAIRING IS 34kg (75lb).
   (3) Hold the MLG fixed fairing (1) in position on the MLG.
   (4) At position D, install the bush (26), the bolt (28), the washer (25) and the nut (24).
   (5) At position C, install the bush (27), the bolt (28), the washer (25) and the nut (24).
NOTE: For the right MLG, the bush (27) and the bolt (28) are installed from the same direction.
   (6) At position D, install the 98D32104083000 SPACER, RIGGING on the bolt (28). This will make sure that dimensions Z and Y are correct and between 1.3 mm (0.0512 in.) and 2.7 mm (0.1063 in.).
F Fixed Fairing - Adjustment ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (7) Install the bushes (32), install the bolts (10), the washers (9) and the nuts (8).
   (8) Tighten the lock nuts (13) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG retraction.
   (9) Slowly retract the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-001).
     (a) During the retraction of the MLG, make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) does not:
  • Make an overlap with the lower wing surface
  • Hit the hinge door
  • Hit the fixed underwing panel.
   (10) Remove the lock nuts (13), the locking devices (14) and (15) and the serrated plates (17).
   (11) Turn the studs (21) until they are fully on the rod-ends (29).
   (12) Turn the spools (3) to get the dimensions that follow:

     (e) Make sure that dimension R is between 14.0 mm (0.5512 in.) and 31.0 mm (1.2205 in.).
     (f) Make sure that dimension P is between -2.5 mm (-0.0984 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).
     (g) Make sure that dimension Q is between:
  • 2.5 mm (0.0984 in.) and 9.5 mm (0.3740 in.) at the inboard end of the shroud box

   (13) Turn the studs (21) on the rod-ends (29) until the shoulders of the studs (21) touch the support plates (20).

  • The serrated plates (17)
  • The lock nuts (13), the locking devices (14) and (15) and the studs (21).
   (15) Install the serrated plates (17), the locking devices (15) and (14) and the lock nuts (13).
     (a) Make sure that the arrows on the serrated plates (17) are aligned with the serrations on the mating part.
   (16) Tighten the lock nuts (13) sufficiently to make sure that the serrated plates (17) do not disengage. Make sure that you can turn the studs (21).
   (17) Make sure that the dimensions are in the limits, refer to step (12).
     (a) If necessary, use the spools (3) to adjust the MLG fixed fairing (1) to the correct position.
   (18) If necessary, adjust the studs (21) until the stud shoulder touches the support plates (20).
   (19) Adjust the position of the hinge 1A extension-fairing (46):
     (a) Measure dimension A and make sure that dimension A is a maximum of 3.0 mm (0.1181 in.).
     (b) If necessary, adjust the position of the hinge 1A extension-fairing (46) as follows:
       1 Loosen the bolts (44) and (48), and the nuts (45).
       2 Adjust the position of the hinge 1A extension-fairing (46) until dimension A is correct.
     (c) TORQUE the bolts (44) and (48) and the nuts (45) to between 0.8 and 0.7 m.daN (70.80 and 61.95 lbf.in ) T.
     (d) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.
06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the bolts (44) and (48) and the nuts (45).
     (e) Paint three black lines, as shown, with Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative External Structure (Material No.04JMD3) on the MLG fixed fairing (1).
   (20) Tighten the lock nuts (13) sufficiently to make sure that the MLG fixed fairing (1) is stable during the MLG extension.
   (21) Extend the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-30-00-867-002).
   (22) Make sure that the safety devices are on the applicable MLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (23) Turn the spools (3), to the minimum, to align a slot with the thread hole in the MLG fixed fairing (1).
   (24) Install the washers (5) and the bolts (6).
   (25) At position D:
     (a) Remove the 98D32104083000 SPACER, RIGGING from the bolt (28).
