A. Leak Check of the NAI Sense Tubes
(a) Remove the bolts (1) and (4) and the seals (2) and (5) from the NAI duct.
(b) Do the servicing of the NAI-duct sense-line tap (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-200-807):
1 Do not install the bolts (1) and (4) back on the NAI duct at this time.
(d) TORQUE the 636-5311 NAI SENSELINE FITTING (3) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
.
1 Make sure that the filter removes oil fumes, water, hydrocarbons and particles as small as 15 microns from the shop air.
(f) Pressurize the NAI system at a rate not more than 10 psi (1 bar) for each minute with the ambient-temperature shop air. Let the NAI system become stable at 30 psi (2 bar) to 40 psi (3 bar).
(h) Examine the upper NAI-valve sense-tube-connections for leaks.
(i) If there are leaks, do the steps that follow:
1 Release the pressure from the NAI system.
2 Tighten the connections where there is leakage (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-12-400-801).
3 Do steps 4.A.(1)(f) thru 4.A.(1)(i).
4 Make sure that there are no leaks.
(k) Disconnect the shop air.
(m) Install the 636-5311 NAI SENSELINE FITTING (3) on the lower-valve sense-line tap.
(n) TORQUE the 636-5311 NAI SENSELINE FITTING (3) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
.
1 Make sure that the filter removes oil fumes, water, hydrocarbons and particles as small as 15 microns from the shop air.
(p) Pressurize the NAI system at a rate not more than 10 psi (1 bar) for each minute with the ambient-temperature shop air. Let the NAI system become stable at 30 psi (2 bar) to 40 psi (3 bar).
(r) Examine the lower NAI-valve sense-tube-connections for leaks.
(s) If there are leaks, do the steps that follow:
1 Release the pressure from the NAI system.
2 Tighten the connections where there is leakage (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-12-400-801).
3 Do steps 4.A.(1)(p) thru 4.A.(1)(s).
4 Make sure that there are no leaks.
(u) Disconnect the shop air.
(v) Remove the 636-5311 NAI SENSELINE FITTING (3) from the lower-valve sense-line tap.
(w) Make sure that there is no blockage in the NAI-duct sense-line taps.
(x) Install the bolts (1) and (4) and the new AIPC 30-21-86-01-615 SEAL (2) and AIPC 30-21-86-01-615 SEAL (5) on the NAI duct (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-200-807).
(y) Remove the Leak Detection Compound (Material No.PU1-0087) from the NAI sense-tube connections with a clean Lint-Free Cotton Cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
5. Close-upCAUTION:
REMOVE AND INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
(1) Do the leak check of the NAI sense tubes as follows:(a) Remove the bolts (1) and (4) and the seals (2) and (5) from the NAI duct.
(b) Do the servicing of the NAI-duct sense-line tap (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-200-807):
1 Do not install the bolts (1) and (4) back on the NAI duct at this time.
CAUTION:
DO NOT:
- APPLY ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND TO THE NAI TEST PLUG
- LET ANTI-SEIZE COMPOUND GET INTO THE SENSE TUBES OR CAUSE A BLOCKAGE OF THEM.
DEBRIS THAT GETS INTO THE SENSE TUBES CAN CAUSE INCORRECT OPERATION OF THE ANTI-ICE SYSTEM.
(c) Install the 636-5311 NAI SENSELINE FITTING (3) on the upper-valve sense-line tap.(d) TORQUE the 636-5311 NAI SENSELINE FITTING (3) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
.CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT:
(e) Connect the shop air with a 15 micron absolute-filter to the 636-5311 NAI SENSELINE FITTING (3):- YOU USE FILTERED SHOP AIR
- THE DEBRIS DOES NOT GO INTO THE SENSE TUBES OR CAUSE A BLOCKAGE.
