NOTE: The maximum leakage rates for components are given only to assist in trouble shooting. The total leakage of components in a section (left wing, right wing, etc) of the system must be less than the permitted maximum for that section. Also the total leakages of the sections must not together be more than the leakage permitted for the complete system.
(b) If the internal leakage rate is too high you can find the defective component if you: 1 Listen to the pipes and components which may be the cause.
2 Feel the pipes and components, a high leakage rate will cause an increase in their temperature.
CAUTION:
DO NOT DISCONNECT AND CAP THE RETURN LINE FROM A SERVOCONTROL TO DO A LEAKAGE CHECK. IF A SUPPLY OF SYSTEM PRESSURE GETS TO THE SERVOCONTROL IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE IF THERE IS NO RETURN FLOW.
(c) If you think that a servocontrol is the cause, disconnect and cap the supply to the servocontrol. Do the test again and if the leakage rate is now in limits, the servocontrol is confirmed as defective. A. Check of the Internal Leakage of the Yellow Hydraulic System
(a) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the HYD/LEAK MEASURMENT VALVES/Y P/BSW is set to on (OFF light not on).

(c) Monitor the flow shown on the ground supply flowmeter. It must not be more than 10.0 l.min (2.6417 USgal.mn).
(d) If the internal leakage is too much:
1 Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
2 Disconnect the ground hydraulic supply from the aircraft ground test connections.
3 Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
with the electric pump (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
4 Do the leakage check of all sections of the Yellow hydraulic system to find the cause of high leakage.

(a) On the ECAM control panel on the center pedestal, push the HYD P/B. Make sure that the lower DU shows the HYD page.
(b) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, lift the guard and set the HYD/LEAK MEASUREMENT VALVES/G P/BSW to OFF (the OFF light is on).
(c) Refer to the lower DU of the ECAM (HYD page) to make sure that the solenoid valve operation is correct (the color of the flow arrow and system name of the Yellow system is amber).
(d) On the overhead panel 40VU, make sure that the PTU P/BSW is set to OFF (the OFF light is on).
(e) Refer to the ground instruction manual of the ultrasonic flow meter to make sure that the correct software is installed.
(f) Clean the tube (1) between the identification tapes (2) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(g) Remove the remaining acoustic coupling compound from the leakage transducer (5) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) . Do not use detergent to clean the leakage transducer (5).
(h) Apply a thin layer of the acoustic coupling compound (part of USF FLUXUS GST 6108, 610007AB TOOL-MEASURE,HYDRAULIC FLOW) to the contact surfaces of the leakage transducer (5).
(i) Install the leakage transducer (5) between the identification tapes (2) on the pipe (1):
1 Hold the leakage transducer (5) and turn the knurled screw (6) counterclockwise to the stop.
2 Put the leakage transducer (5) in position on the pipe (1) between the identification tapes (2) and push it tightly on the pipe (1).
3 Push the knurled screw (6) in and attach the fastening strap (4) around the pipe (1) with the thread element (3).
4 Put the fastening strap (4) through the upper slot of the strap clamp (7) and then through the lower one.
5 Make sure that the fastening strap (4) has the correct tension. And make sure that the knurled screw (6) is pushed in up to the stop.
6 Tighten the knurled screw (6) to attach the leakage transducer (5) to the pipe (1).
(j) Connect the leakage transducer cable (8) to the transmitter (9).
(k) Refer to the ground instruction manual of the ultrasonic flow meter to set:

Rudder servocontrol: 2.1 l.min (0.55 USgal.mn)
Yaw damper actuator: 1.3 l.min (0.34 USgal.mn)
Flap PCU valve block: 0.2 l.min (0.05 USgal.mn)
NOTE: The maximum leakage rates for components are given only to assist in trouble shooting. The total leakage of components in a section (left wing, right wing etc) of the system must be less than the leakage permitted for that section. Also, the sum of all leakages of all the sections must not be more than the leakage permitted for the full system.
(b) If the internal leakage rate is too high you can find the defective component if you: 1 Listen to the pipes and components which can be the cause.
2 Touch the pipes and components, a high leakage rate will cause an increase in their temperature.
Do the test again and if the leakage rate is in limits, the servocontrol is the defective component. A. Check of the Internal Leakage of the Yellow Hydraulic System

(l) Monitor the flow on the ultrasonic flow meter display. It must not be more than 1.6 l.min (0.42 USgal.mn).
(m) If the internal leakage is more than 1.6 l.min (0.42 USgal.mn) do the steps in Para A.(7) to find the cause (s) of the high internal leakage.
(n) Remove the leakage transducer (5):
1 Hold the leakage transducer (5) and turn the knurled screw (6) counterclockwise to disconnect the leakage transducer (5) from the pipe (1).
2 Push the knurled screw (6) in and disconnect the fastening strap (4) from the strap clamp (7).
3 Remove the leakage transducer (5) from the pipe (1).
(o) Disconnect the leakage transducer cable (8) from the transmitter (9).
(7) Permitted leakage rates of the components and how to find the defective component
(a) The maximum permitted internal leakage for components related to the Yellow hydraulic system is:
Spoiler 4: 1.5 l.min (0.40 USgal.mn)
Spoiler 2: 0.8 l.min (0.21 USgal.mn)
THS actuator servovalve: 0.75 l.min (0.20 USgal.mn)
Elevator servocontrol: 1.5 l.min (0.40 USgal.mn)
Do the test again and if the leakage rate is in limits, the servocontrol is the defective component. Subtask 29-00-00-860-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
