A. Make sure that the ground service network is energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

4. Procedure
Subtask 26-12-17-420-065-A
A. Installation of the Core Engine Fire Detection Elements
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE QUARTER-TURN FASTENER ON THE FIRE DETECTOR CLAMP. ONLY USE A MANUAL SCREWDRIVER. ELECTRICAL OR PNEUMATIC TOOLS WILL CAUSE THE FASTENER TO TURN TOO MUCH AND POSSIBLY TO BREAK.
   (1) Removal of protection covers
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (27), the four bolts (33), the two bolts (62) and the two bolts (31) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (3) Install the four bolts (27) to attach the responder (3) on the left side of the engine.
   (4) TORQUE the four bolts (27) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Align the fireloop wire (4) along the route identified by the 25 clips.
   (6) Install the four bolts (33) to attach the responder (63) on the right side of the engine.
   (7) TORQUE the four bolts (33) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
T.
   (8) One clip at a time, align the fireloop wires (4) in the grooves in the clip. Close the clip and turn the bolt one-half turn to lock the clip closed as follows:
     (a) Turn the bolt (35) to lock the clip (34) closed.
     (b) Turn the bolt (37) to lock the clip (36) closed.
     (c) Turn the bolt (39) to lock the clip (38) closed.
     (d) Turn the bolt (41) to lock the clip (40) closed.
     (e) Turn the bolt (43) to lock the clip (42) closed.
     (f) Turn the bolt (45) to lock the clip (44) closed.
     (g) Turn the bolt (60) to lock the clip (61) closed.
     (h) Turn the bolt (58) to lock the clip (59) closed.
     (i) Turn the bolt (56) to lock the clip (57) closed.
     (j) Turn the bolt (55) to lock the clip (54) closed.
     (k) Turn the bolt (53) to lock the clip (52) closed.
     (l) Turn the bolt (51) to lock the clip (50) closed.
     (m) Turn the bolt (49) to lock the clip (48) closed.
     (n) Turn the bolt (47) to lock the clip (46) closed.
     (o) Turn the bolt (9) to lock the clip (10) closed.
     (p) Turn the bolt (8) to lock the clip (7) closed.
     (q) Turn the bolt (11) to lock the clip (12) closed.
     (r) Turn the bolt (6) to lock the clip (5) closed.
     (s) Turn the bolt (13) to lock the clip (14) closed.
     (t) Turn the bolt (15) to lock the clip (16) closed.
     (u) Turn the bolt (17) to lock the clip (18) closed.
     (v) Turn the bolt (19) to lock the clip (20) closed.
     (w) Turn the bolt (21) to lock the clip (22) closed.
     (x) Turn the bolt (23) to lock the clip (24) closed.
     (y) Turn the bolt (25) to lock the clip (26) closed.
   (9) Install the two bolts (62) to attach the harness (30) leads to the responder (63).
   (10) TORQUE the two bolts (62) to between 55 and 50 lbf.in (0.62 and 0.57 m.daN )

   (11) Install the bolt (31) to attach the bracket (32) to the harness (30).
   (12) TORQUE the bolt (31) to between 30 and 25 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.28 m.daN )
T.
   (13) Install the two bolts (2) to attach the harness (1) leads to the responder (3).
   (14) TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 55 and 50 lbf.in (0.62 and 0.57 m.daN )
T.
   (15) Install the bolt (29) to attach the bracket (28) to the harness (1).
   (16) TORQUE the bolt (29) to between 30 and 25 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.28 m.daN )
