Flushing of the Oil System
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
4. Procedure(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
- The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
- The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

A. Flush the oil system as follows:
(2) Completely drain the oil from the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-802).
(3) Completely drain the oil from the lubrication unit (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-803).
(4) Completely drain the oil from the engine Surface Air Cooling Oil Cooler (SACOC) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-804).
(5) Fill the oil tank with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-806).
(7) Drain again the oil completely as follows:
(a) Completely drain the oil from the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-808).
(b) Completely drain the oil from the AGB (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-802).
(c) Completely drain the oil from the lubrication unit (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-803).
(d) Completely drain the oil from the engine Surface Air Cooling Oil Cooler (SACOC) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-804).
(8) Examine the scavenge screens and the oil filter as follows:
(a) Remove the scavenge screen plugs (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-000-801).
(b) Remove the oil filter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-000-803).
(c) Inspect the scavenge screens (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-200-806) and the oil filter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-210-801).
1 If there is no contamination (non - metal chips):
a Install the oil filter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-400-803).
b Install the scavenge screen plugs (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-400-801).
2 If there is contamination, do the visual inspection of the Oil Debris Monitoring System (ODMS) sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-36-00-220-801).
(9) Fill the oil tank with the new engine oil (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-806).
(10) Operate the engine at ground idle for ten minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-803).
(11) Do a check of the oil quantity with the sight gage, thirty minutes or less after the engine shutdown.
(12) Fill the oil tank to the maximum level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-806).
5. Close-upWARNING:
DO NOT REMOVE THE FILLER CAP OF THE OIL TANK IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENGINE OPERATION. LET THE OIL PRESSURE DECREASE FOR A MINIMUM OF 5 MINUTES AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. IF YOU OPEN THE FILLER CAP WHEN THERE IS PRESSURE IN THE TANK, THE OIL CAN BURN YOU DANGEROUSLY.
WARNING:
USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
(1) Completely drain the oil from the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-808). (2) Completely drain the oil from the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-802).
(3) Completely drain the oil from the lubrication unit (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-803).
(4) Completely drain the oil from the engine Surface Air Cooling Oil Cooler (SACOC) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-804).
(5) Fill the oil tank with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-806).
NOTE: An oil tank which is half filled is sufficient to flush the oil system.
(6) Operate the engine at ground idle for ten minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-803). (7) Drain again the oil completely as follows:
(a) Completely drain the oil from the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-808).
(b) Completely drain the oil from the AGB (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-802).
(c) Completely drain the oil from the lubrication unit (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-803).
(d) Completely drain the oil from the engine Surface Air Cooling Oil Cooler (SACOC) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-804).
(8) Examine the scavenge screens and the oil filter as follows:
(a) Remove the scavenge screen plugs (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-000-801).
(b) Remove the oil filter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-000-803).
(c) Inspect the scavenge screens (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-200-806) and the oil filter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-210-801).
1 If there is no contamination (non - metal chips):
a Install the oil filter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-400-803).
b Install the scavenge screen plugs (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-400-801).
