Check of the Oil Level and Replenishing (Pressure Filling)
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
ZONE: 400

USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
Subtask 12-13-79-210-069-A A. Check of the Oil Level
(1) Check the oil level on the sight gage (4).
Subtask 12-13-79-612-075-A (1) Check the oil level on the sight gage (4).
NOTE: - Oil level must be checked not less than 5 minutes and not more than 60 minutes after engine shutdown while the oil in the oil tank (1) is still warm. This will prevent the over-servicing of the engine.
- Oil should be added not less than five minutes after engine shutdown.
- If the oil in the oil tank (1) is cool or cold, the oil density will increase (volume decreases) and the oil tank (1) can be over-serviced.
- If the oil tank (1) is over-serviced, this will not damage the engine. The extra oil may be blown overboard through the engine vent system.
- The quantity of oil can cause incorrect calculations for the consumption rate.
- It is highly recommended to do oil servicing always in the same thermal condition (within one hour after shutdown) to ensure a smooth oil consumption calculation.
(2) If the oil level is above the MAX level on the sight gage (4), read the Class 3 report and check for concurrent fault message ENGXD-0284 ENG OIL LEVEL - HIGH and do the following troubleshooting: TSM 79-31-00-810-825.
NOTE: The MAX mark on the oil tank (1) is corresponding to 21.2 quarts of oil in the tank and a cockpit indication of 17 or 17.5 quarts.
B. Pressure Filling of the Oil Tank (1)
(3) Attach the overflow HOSE - BLEED, TRANSPARENT to the oil overflow port (3).
(5) Add engine oil.
(6) If you can see oil through the transparent overflow transparent hose, wait until the oil flow stops.
(7) When the oil flow from the transparent overflow hose stops, disconnect the pressure lube system from the oil tank (1):
(a) Do a check for oil leakage from the remote oil filling port (2) and oil overflow port (3):
1 No leaks are permitted.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
REMOVAL OF DRAIN LINE BEFORE FLOW OF OIL FROM OVERFLOW HOSE STOPS MAY RESULT IN AN OVER-SERVICED TANK.
CAUTION:
DURING FILLING, THE MAXIMUM OIL PUMP FLOW RATE MUST NOT EXCEED 66 US GAL/HR (250L/HR), OR OVER-SERVICING OF OIL SYSTEM MAY RESULT.
CAUTION:
DO NOT MIX TYPE 1 AND TYPE 2 OILS. DO NOT DO OIL SERVICING WITH BRANDS THAT ARE NOT APPROVED. FLUSH AND REPLENISH THE OIL SYSTEM IMMEDIATELY WITH THE CORRECT ENGINE OIL IF ONE OF THE ERRORS THAT FOLLOW OCCURS: 1) IF 10 PERCENT OR MORE OF A DIFFERENT OIL TYPE WAS USED, OR 2) IF 10 PERCENT OR MORE OF A NON-APPROVED OIL WAS USED. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR IF YOU OPERATE THE ENGINE IN ONE OF THESE CONDITIONS.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PRESSURE LUBE SYSTEM HAS A HAND PUMP. IF YOU USE OTHER TYPES OF PRESSURE LUBE SYSTEMS, AN OVERFILL CONDITION CAN OCCUR.
(1) Remove the blanking caps from the remote oil filling port (2) and oil overflow port (3). NOTE: It is recommended to use a pressure lube system equipped with a hand pump. The use of a hand pump will permit you to easily follow the increase in the oil level and to prevent the over-servicing of the engine oil system.
(2) Attach the coupling adapter from the pressure lube system to the remote oil filling port (2). (3) Attach the overflow HOSE - BLEED, TRANSPARENT to the oil overflow port (3).
NOTE: Use a transparent plastic hose to find the oil at the oil overflow port (3) location (the oil tank is full). This will give a visual indication that the oil tank (1) is full.
(4) Install a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the overflow transparent hose to collect the remaining fluid. (5) Add engine oil.
WARNING:
USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
(a) Add the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) in the tank (1) from the pressure lube system up to the full mark.
NOTE: A wet surface which is not sufficient to make one drop, is permitted.
(8) Install the applicable blanking caps on the remote oil filling port (2) and the oil overflow port (3). Subtask 12-13-79-410-075-A
