A. Installation of the Starter Air Control Valve
(1) Removal of the protection covers:
(2) Install the starter air control valve (1) as follows:
(a) Attach the new AIPC 36-11-86-20-270 SEAL (3) to the upper starter air duct withP05-395 beeswax (was: P06-015) .
(b) ApplyP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine, (synthetic base) to the threads of the two V-band coupling (2).
(c) Put the V-band coupling (2) on the upper side of the starter air control valve (1).
(d) Put the starter air control valve (1) on the upper air duct and align the notches.
(e) Move the V-band coupling (2) to engage the duct and the starter air control valve (1).
1 Turn the coupling with the threads on the V-band coupling (2) pointed out.
(f) Tighten the V-band coupling (2) to hold the starter air control valve (1) in position.
(g) Torque the V-band clamp (2) as follows:
1 TORQUE the V-band clamp (2) to between 125 and 115 lbf.in (1.41 and 1.30 m.daN )
.
2 Tap the clamp retainer ring at several places around the perimeter lightly with a MALLET - SOFT FACE.
3 Torque the V-band clamp (2) again until the same indication holds.
(3) Install the lower starter air duct (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-400-802).
(4) Connect the wiring harness to the starter air control valve (1) as follows:
(a) Examine, align and engage the connector.
(b) Push lightly inward on the connector while tightening the coupling ring.
(c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
(d) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
(e) Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
(f) Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
