Test No. 2 - Engine Motor Leak Test (Dry Method) [PW11]

TASK 71-00-00-720-809-A
Test No. 2 - Engine Motor Leak Test (Dry Method)

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE FAN COWLS ARE SECURELY HELD OPEN DURING MONITORING. MAKE SURE HOLD OPEN RODS ARE SERVICEABLE.
1. Reason for the Job
Use this procedure to check the fuel system (except the fuel manifolds and nozzles) and the oil system for leaks. The engine is operated by the starter only for this test.
The dry-motor leak test uses the engine starter only to operate the engine for a short time to check for leaks in the fuel or oil system. The ignition system is OFF for this test. The fuel goes to the fuel pump (for pump lubrication) but not to the engine fuel manifolds and nozzles. The actuators fuel lines cannot be examined by this method. This procedure is recommended for most motor leak checks unless the wet-motor check is specified.
