   (1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the right thrust-reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
462AR.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 80-11-02-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Starter Magnetic-Chip-Collector Assembly
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) POST SB C-80-00-0006A (with chip collector probe):
     (a) Prepare the chip collector (1) and the valve (2) as follows:
       1 Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine, (synthetic base) to:
       2 Installation of the packings:
CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE CHIP DETECTORS, MAKE SURE THAT THE CORRECT PACKINGS ARE IN POSITION. IF THEY ARE NOT, THERE IS A RISK OF OIL LEAKAGE AND ENGINE DAMAGE.
         a Install the packing (3) on the chip collector (1).
         b Install the packing (4) on the interior of the valve (2).
         c Install the packing (5) on the valve (2).
   (3) Install the valve (2) and the chip collector (1) on the starter as follows:
CAUTION: INSTALL THE VALVE APART FROM THE CHIP COLLECTOR. ALSO DO NOT TORQUE THE VALVE TOO MUCH. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CHIP COLLECTOR ASSEMBLY.
     (a) Install the valve (2) on the starter.
     (b) TORQUE the valve (2) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )

     (c) Installation of the lockwire:
WARNING: USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
       1 Safety the valve (2) with P05-289safety wire (lockwire) - steel, corrosion resistant or P05-291cable, safety and P05-292ferrule, safety cable (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-811) and (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-813).
     (d) Install the chip collector (1) on the valve (2).
     (e) Push in and turn the chip collector (1) fully clockwise.
     (f) Make sure that the chip collector (1) is fully installed and cannot disengage.
   (4) Filling of the starter:
CAUTION: DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT TYPES OF OIL WHEN YOU ADD OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THE CHEMICAL STRUCTURE OF DIFFERENT BRANDS OF OIL CAN BE SUFFICIENTLY DIFFERENT TO MAKE THEM NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.
     (a) Fill the starter with oil (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-00-600-801).
   (5) Do a check of the valve (2) as follows:
     (a) Push the chip collector (1) in, turn it counterclockwise and remove it from the valve (2).
     (b) Monitor any oil leakage.
NOTE: A drop or two can come out and then must stop. This is acceptable.
     (c) If the valve (2) continues to leak, replace the packing (4) as follows:
       1 Remove the valve (2) and the packings (4) and (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-02-000-801).
       2 Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine, (synthetic base) on the new packings (4) and (5).
       3 Do step 4.A.(2)(a)2_b_ thru step 4.A.(2)(a)2_c_.
       4 Do step 4.A.(3)(a) thru step 4.A.(3)(c).
     (d) Do step 4.A.(3)(d) thru step 4.A.(3)(f).
   (6) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the right thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
