Installation of the Thrust Reverser Blocker Doors
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-32-42-010-084-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position.

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position.
C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
Subtask 78-32-42-010-088-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the translating cowl is deployed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
(2) Make sure that the two adjacent thrust reverser cascades are removed to get access to the blocker door that you will remove (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-000-806).
(3) If you will install the upper blocker door, make sure that the panels that follow are removed :
(b) Make sure that the slat panel is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-15-000-801).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the translating cowl is deployed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
(2) Make sure that the two adjacent thrust reverser cascades are removed to get access to the blocker door that you will remove (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-000-806).
(3) If you will install the upper blocker door, make sure that the panels that follow are removed :
NOTE: Removal of these panels is only necessary for the installation of the upper blocker door.
(a) Make sure that the hinge access panel is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-45-000-801). (b) Make sure that the slat panel is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-15-000-801).

A. Installation of the Blocker Door Link Arm

Subtask 78-32-42-420-063-A CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE HEAD OF THE BOLT ON THE UPPER SIDE OF THE DOOR.
INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE BOLT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(1) Install the link arm (2) with the bushing (26), bushing (29), bolt (24), washer (25), washer (27) and nut (28). NOTE: Do not wet-install.
(2) TORQUE the nut (28) to between 227 and 213 lbf.in (2.57 and 2.41 m.daN )
. B. Installation of the Thrust Reverser Blocker Door
(2) You can apply protective material to the blocker door (9) and link arm (2) to help prevent unwanted movement and damage.
(3) Carefully move the blocker door (9) to the correct position in the thrust reverser:
(a) Align the holes in the hinges (10) and (17) with the mating holes in the blocker door.
(5) Install the spacer (11), spacer (15), washer (14), bolt (16), washer (12) and nut (13) to attach the blocker door (9) to the floating hinge (10).
(6) Examine the report made during the removal procedure to identify the location of the fixed hinge.
(7) Install the spacer (20), washer (19), bolt (18), washer (23), the three washers (22) and nut (21) to attach the blocker door (9) to the fixed hinge (17).
(8) TORQUE the bolts (16) and (18) to between 72 and 68 lbf.in (0.81 and 0.77 m.daN )
.
(9) Remove the protective material from the blocker door (9) and the link arm (2).
(10) Install the spacer (7), washer (1), bolt (8), washer (5), nut (4) and cotter pin (3) to attach the link arm (2) to the fixed structure fitting (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-47-400-802).
5. Close-upCAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FREE END OF THE LINK ARM AND THE BLOCKER DOOR DOES NOT FALL. IF IT FALLS, THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BLOCKER DOOR OR ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
(1) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (8), (16) and (18) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) . (2) You can apply protective material to the blocker door (9) and link arm (2) to help prevent unwanted movement and damage.
(3) Carefully move the blocker door (9) to the correct position in the thrust reverser:
(a) Align the holes in the hinges (10) and (17) with the mating holes in the blocker door.
NOTE: It is recommended that one person hold the blocker door while a second person installs the fasteners.
(4) Examine the report made during the removal procedure to identify the location of the floating hinge. (5) Install the spacer (11), spacer (15), washer (14), bolt (16), washer (12) and nut (13) to attach the blocker door (9) to the floating hinge (10).
(6) Examine the report made during the removal procedure to identify the location of the fixed hinge.
(7) Install the spacer (20), washer (19), bolt (18), washer (23), the three washers (22) and nut (21) to attach the blocker door (9) to the fixed hinge (17).
(8) TORQUE the bolts (16) and (18) to between 72 and 68 lbf.in (0.81 and 0.77 m.daN )
. (9) Remove the protective material from the blocker door (9) and the link arm (2).
(10) Install the spacer (7), washer (1), bolt (8), washer (5), nut (4) and cotter pin (3) to attach the link arm (2) to the fixed structure fitting (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-47-400-802).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the thrust reverser cascades (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-400-806).
(3) If you removed the slat panel, install it (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-15-400-801).
(4) If you removed the hinge access panel, install it (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-45-400-801).
(5) Manually stow the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-410-801).

(2) Install the thrust reverser cascades (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-400-806).

(5) Manually stow the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-410-801).
C. Close Access
(1) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
