Installation of the Link Arm Fitting Fairing
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-32-47-010-054-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 78-32-47-010-055-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the translating cowl is deployed to 127 mm (5.00 in.) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
(2) Make sure that the translating cowl is locked.
(3) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the translating cowl is deployed to 127 mm (5.00 in.) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
(2) Make sure that the translating cowl is locked.
(3) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

A. Installation of the Link Arm Fitting-Fairing on the Left Thrust Reverser
(2) Installation of the link arm fitting-fairing (8):
(a) Apply a layer ofCPNCL00653 lubricant (molykote G-rapid plus paste) on the screw (7).
(b) Put the link arm fitting-fairing (8) in position on the structure.
(c) Push the link arm fitting-fairing (8) rearward to engage the aft bridge (9) of the fairing below the inner fixed-structure bracket (10).
(d) Install the screw (7).
(e) TORQUE the screw (7) to between 0.396 and 0.344 m.daN (35.04 and 30.44 lbf.in )

(3) Connection of the link arm (6):
(a) Apply a layer ofCPNCL00653 lubricant (molykote G-rapid plus paste) on the link arm bolt (4).
(b) Put the link arm (6) in position on the link arm fitting.
(c) Put the link arm washer (5) in position.
(d) Install the link arm bolt (4).
(f) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 1.82 and 1.49 m.daN (13.42 and 10.99 lbf.ft )

(g) Installation of the cotter pin:
a You can loosen the nut (2) to 1/6 of a turn to install the cotter pin (1).
Subtask 78-32-47-420-055-A NOTE: This procedure is given for one link arm fitting-fairing and is also applicable for the other link arm fitting-fairings on the left thrust reverser.
(1) Clean the parts to be installed and the contact surfaces with a textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) made moist with the diestone DLS (Material No.CPNCL02589) . (2) Installation of the link arm fitting-fairing (8):
(a) Apply a layer of
(b) Put the link arm fitting-fairing (8) in position on the structure.
(c) Push the link arm fitting-fairing (8) rearward to engage the aft bridge (9) of the fairing below the inner fixed-structure bracket (10).
(d) Install the screw (7).
(e) TORQUE the screw (7) to between 0.396 and 0.344 m.daN (35.04 and 30.44 lbf.in )

(c) Put the link arm washer (5) in position.
(d) Install the link arm bolt (4).
NOTE: The link arm bolt (4) must be installed from the upper to the lower.
(e) Install the washer (3) and the nut (2). (f) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 1.82 and 1.49 m.daN (13.42 and 10.99 lbf.ft )
. (g) Installation of the cotter pin:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
1 Install the new AIPC 78-30-24-10-460 COTTER PIN (1): a You can loosen the nut (2) to 1/6 of a turn to install the cotter pin (1).
B. Installation of the Link Arm Fitting-Fairing on the Right Thrust Reverser
(2) Installation of the link arm fitting-fairing (18):
(a) Apply a layer ofCPNCL00653 lubricant (molykote G-rapid plus paste) on the screw (17).
(b) Put the link arm fitting-fairing (18) in position on the structure.
(c) Push the link arm fitting-fairing (18) rearward to engage the aft bridge (19) of the fairing below the inner fixed-structure bracket (20).
(d) Install the screw (17).
(e) TORQUE the screw (17) to between 0.396 and 0.344 m.daN (35.04 and 30.44 lbf.in )

(3) Connection of the link arm (16):
(a) Apply a layer ofCPNCL00653 lubricant (molykote G-rapid plus paste) on the link arm bolt (14).
(b) Put the link arm (16) in position on the link arm fitting.
(c) Put the link arm washer (15) in position.
(d) Install the link arm bolt (14).
(f) TORQUE the nut (12) to between 1.82 and 1.49 m.daN (13.42 and 10.99 lbf.ft )

(g) Installation of the cotter pin:
a You can loosen the nut (12) to 1/6 of a turn to install the cotter pin (11).
5. Close-upNOTE: This procedure is given for one link arm fitting-fairing and is also applicable for the other link arm fitting-fairings on the right thrust reverser.

(e) Install the washer (13) and the nut (12). (f) TORQUE the nut (12) to between 1.82 and 1.49 m.daN (13.42 and 10.99 lbf.ft )
