BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-32-43-010-076-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Nacelle Maintenance
Subtask 78-32-43-010-078-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). D. Get Access
(1) Manually deploy the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
(2) If you will remove an upper cascade (cascades No. 1 thru No. 5), put a ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position under the fan cowl. For the cascade numbers, refer to
(3) If you will remove the No. 1 or No. 2 cascade, remove the panels that follow from the applicable side of the engine:
(b) Remove the slat clearance panel (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-15-000-801)
4. Procedure(1) Manually deploy the translating cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-50-010-801).
(2) If you will remove an upper cascade (cascades No. 1 thru No. 5), put a ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position under the fan cowl. For the cascade numbers, refer to
(3) If you will remove the No. 1 or No. 2 cascade, remove the panels that follow from the applicable side of the engine:
NOTE: It is only necessary to remove these panels if you will remove the No. 1 or No. 2 cascades.
(a) Remove the hinge access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-45-000-801). (b) Remove the slat clearance panel (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-15-000-801)

A. Removal of the Thrust Reverser Cascades
(a) It is necessary to install the 98N7830H004-000 AFT FRAME RETAINER KIT if you remove all the cascades. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(b) Remove the bolts (2) and the washers (1) that attach the aft edge of the cascade (3) to the aft frame (7). Start with bolt hole Number (No.) 1 and continue in sequence to bolt hole No. 4.
(d) Remove the cascade (3) from the thrust reverser as follows:
1 Move the cascade (3) forward a small distance until the aft edge of the cascade becomes free of the aft frame (7).
2 Move the cascade (3) outboard and away from the thrust reverser.
CAUTION:
IF YOU REMOVE ALL CASCADES, INSTALL THE TR AFT FRAME RETAINER (98N7830H004-000). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OCCUR.
(1) Remove the cascade (3) as follows: (a) It is necessary to install the 98N7830H004-000 AFT FRAME RETAINER KIT if you remove all the cascades. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(b) Remove the bolts (2) and the washers (1) that attach the aft edge of the cascade (3) to the aft frame (7). Start with bolt hole Number (No.) 1 and continue in sequence to bolt hole No. 4.
NOTE: It is important to remove the aft bolts before the forward bolts.
(c) Remove the bolts (4) and the washers (5) that attach the forward edge of the cascade (3) to the forward frame (6). Start with bolt hole No. 5 and continue in sequence to bolt hole No. 8. (d) Remove the cascade (3) from the thrust reverser as follows:
1 Move the cascade (3) forward a small distance until the aft edge of the cascade becomes free of the aft frame (7).
2 Move the cascade (3) outboard and away from the thrust reverser.
