WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

(1) Open the left thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

Subtask 78-32-42-210-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. General Visual Inspection of the Left Thrust Reverser Inner Fixed Structure (IFS)
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
(2) Visually examine the left thrust reverser inner fixed structure.
(a) Examine Bifurcation Latch System (BLS) on the left thrust reverser.
1 Look for cracks, fractures, gouges, corrosion and other damage.
2 If you find damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-000-805) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-43-400-805) or contact UTAS for disposition.
(b) Examine the seals on the inner fixed structure (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-210-809).
(c) Examine the thermal insulation blankets (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-210-820).
