C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Manually extend the thrust-reverser translating sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-802).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Detailed Visual Inspection of the Thrust Reverser Blocker Door Hinges and Drag Link Bearings
   (1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
   (2) Examine the thrust reverser blocker door hinges.
     (a) Clean the surfaces of the blocker door hinges and attaching hardware with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
     (b) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine hinge bearings of the blocker doors. Look for dents, wear, corrosion, scratches, cracks, gouges, liner migration or other damage. If you find damage, replace the blocker door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-33-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-33-400-801) or contact UTAS for disposition.
     (c) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the bolts, washers and nuts on the blocker door hinge bearings. Look for cracks, gouges, wear, corrosion, missing parts or other damage. If you find damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-33-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-33-400-801).
     (d) Make sure that the hinge pins, washers and nuts are correctly attached. Tighten or replace the parts as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-33-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-33-400-801).
   (3) Examine the thrust reverser drag link bearings.
     (a) Clean the surfaces of the drag link ends and attaching hardware with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl becomes dry.
     (b) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the drag link bearings. Look for dents, wear, corrosion, scratches, cracks, gouges, liner migration or other damage. If you find damage, replace the drag link bearings (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-32-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-32-400-801) or contact UTAS for disposition.
     (c) Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the T-bolt and cap on the drag link fitting on the inner fixed structure. Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the bolt, washers and nut on the blocker door end of the drag link. Look for cracks, gouges, wear, corrosion, missing parts or other damage. If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-32-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-32-400-801).
     (d) Make sure that the T-bolt, cap, bolt, washers and nut are correctly attached. Tighten or replace the parts as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-32-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-32-400-801).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Manually retract the thrust-reverser translating sleeves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
