B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
4. ProcedureWARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). NOTE: To get access to the drag links, you can also go into the inner thrust reverser or manually move the translating sleeve (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-802) or (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-32-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Thrust Reverser Blocker Door Drag Links
(1) Removal of the protection covers:

(b) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the shank surface of the bolt (9). Do not apply the anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the threaded area of the bolt (9).
(c) Hold the blocker door tightly. With the SCREWDRIVER or an equivalent tool, open the spring leaf on the blocker door until you have access to the holes in the housing.
(d) Attach the drag link (1), (2) or (3) to the housing in the blocker door with the bolt (9), the washers (7) and (8), and the new AIPC 78-32-05-40-210 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-05-45-210 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-06-40-185 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-06-45-185 NUT (6).
(e) Make sure that there is no anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the threaded area of the nut (6).
(f) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )
.
(g) Clean the bushings on the drag link fitting with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) .
(h) Clean the threads on the new AIPC 78-32-05-40-095 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-05-45-095 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-06-40-085 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-06-45-085 T-BOLT (5) and the cap (4) with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) .
(i) Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(j) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the bushings on the drag link fitting. Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the T-bolt (5) and the cap (4). Do not apply anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) under the head of the T-bolt (5).
(k) Manually move the left thrust-reverser translating-sleeve until you can easily attach the drag link (1), (2) or (3) to the related drag link fitting on the inner fixed structure (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
(l) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) under the head of the T-bolt (5).
(m) Attach the drag link (1), (2) or (3) to the drag link fitting on the inner fixed structure. Use the T-bolt (5) and the cap (4).
(n) TORQUE the cap (4) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(o) If necessary, clean the unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) with the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made wet withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(p) Manually retract the left thrust-reverser translating-sleeve to its fully closed position (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).

(b) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the shank surface of the bolt (9). Do not apply the anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the threaded area of the bolt (9).

(d) Attach the drag link (10) or (11) to the housing in the blocker door with the bolt (9), the washers (7) and (8), and the new AIPC 78-32-05-40-210 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-05-45-210 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-06-40-185 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-06-45-185 NUT (6).
(e) Make sure that there is no anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the threaded area of the nut (6).
(f) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )

(g) Clean the bushings on the drag link fitting with the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or an equivalent.
(h) Clean the threads on the new AIPC 78-32-05-40-095 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-05-45-095 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-06-40-085 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-06-45-085 T-BOLT (5) and the cap (4) with the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or an equivalent.
(i) Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) or an equivalent with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(j) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the bushings on the drag link fitting. Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the T-bolt (5) and the cap (4). Do not apply the anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) under the head of the T- bolt (5).
(k) Manually move the right thrust-reverser translating-sleeve until you can easily attach the drag link (10) or (11) to the related drag link fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
(l) Apply a layer of the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) under the head of the T-bolt (5).
(m) Attach the drag link (10) or (11) to the drag link fitting on the inner fixed structure. Use the T-bolt (5) and the cap (4).
(n) TORQUE the cap (4) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(o) If necessary, remove the unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made wet withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl .
(p) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(q) Manually retract the right thrust-reverser translating-sleeve to its fully closed position (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
(4) Installation of the protection covers:
5. Close-up(1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.(2)
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE YOU ATTACH THE BLOCKER DOOR DRAG LINK TO ITS RELATED BLOCKER DOOR ON THE THRUST REVERSER. IF YOU ATTACH THE BLOCKER DOOR DRAG LINK TO THE INCORRECT BLOCKER DOOR, DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
PUT A PROTECTION BLANKET ON THE THRUST REVERSER C-DUCT WHEN YOU GET ACCESS TO THE REAR SIDE OF THE BLOCKER DOORS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSER C-DUCT CAN OCCUR.
(a) Put the drag link (1), (2) or (3) into the rear of the appropriate blocker door. (b) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the shank surface of the bolt (9). Do not apply the anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the threaded area of the bolt (9).
(c) Hold the blocker door tightly. With the SCREWDRIVER or an equivalent tool, open the spring leaf on the blocker door until you have access to the holes in the housing.
(d) Attach the drag link (1), (2) or (3) to the housing in the blocker door with the bolt (9), the washers (7) and (8), and the new AIPC 78-32-05-40-210 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-05-45-210 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-06-40-185 NUT (6) or AIPC 78-32-06-45-185 NUT (6).
(e) Make sure that there is no anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the threaded area of the nut (6).
(f) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )
. (g) Clean the bushings on the drag link fitting with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) .
(h) Clean the threads on the new AIPC 78-32-05-40-095 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-05-45-095 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-06-40-085 T-BOLT (5) or AIPC 78-32-06-45-085 T-BOLT (5) and the cap (4) with acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) .
(i) Remove the acetone (Material No.PU2-0002) with the clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(j) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the bushings on the drag link fitting. Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the T-bolt (5) and the cap (4). Do not apply anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) under the head of the T-bolt (5).
(k) Manually move the left thrust-reverser translating-sleeve until you can easily attach the drag link (1), (2) or (3) to the related drag link fitting on the inner fixed structure (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
(l) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) under the head of the T-bolt (5).
(m) Attach the drag link (1), (2) or (3) to the drag link fitting on the inner fixed structure. Use the T-bolt (5) and the cap (4).
(n) TORQUE the cap (4) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
. (o) If necessary, clean the unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) with the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made wet with

(j) Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the bushings on the drag link fitting. Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) on the T-bolt (5) and the cap (4). Do not apply the anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0005) under the head of the T- bolt (5).
(k) Manually move the right thrust-reverser translating-sleeve until you can easily attach the drag link (10) or (11) to the related drag link fitting (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-860-803).
(l) Apply a layer of the sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) under the head of the T-bolt (5).
(m) Attach the drag link (10) or (11) to the drag link fitting on the inner fixed structure. Use the T-bolt (5) and the cap (4).
(n) TORQUE the cap (4) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
