YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).D. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) On the pylon, remove the Rear Mount Fairing (RMF) doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-000-810):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-11-00-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. General Visual Inspection of the Turbine Exhaust System
(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(2) Visually examine the exhaust nozzle assembly as follows:
(a) Examine the surfaces of exhaust nozzle assembly. Look for dents, wear, scratches, cracks, gouges, holes (other than the drain holes), damaged or missing hardware and other damage:
1 If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(b) Examine the drain hole on the exhaust nozzle assembly. Make sure that there is no blockage:
1 If you find blockage, remove the blockage.
(c) Examine the attachment bolts, washers and nuts on the exhaust nozzle assembly. Look for corrosion, wear, cracks, gouges, missing heads and missing parts. Also look for missing, stripped or crossed threads:
1 If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-01-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-01-400-801).
(d) Examine the alignment pins, washers and nuts on the exhaust nozzle assembly. Look for corrosion, wear, cracks, gouges, missing heads and missing parts. Also look for missing, stripped or crossed threads:
1 If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-01-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-01-400-803).
(e) Examine the snubber bracket assemblies and their related attaching hardware on the exhaust nozzle assembly. Look for dents, wear, scratches, cracks, gouges and other damage:
1 If you find damage, refer to the SRM for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(f) Examine the cross flow blockers and their related attaching hardware on the exhaust nozzle assembly. Look for dents, wear, scratches, cracks, gouges and other damage:
1 If you find damage, refer to the SRM for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(g) Examine the exhaust fire seal assembly and their related attaching hardware on the exhaust nozzle assembly. Look for missing segments, cracks, gouges, missing hardware, holes and other damage:
1 If you find damage, refer to the SRM for allowable damage limits and repair procedures, replace the damaged part or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-01-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-01-400-802).
(3) Visually examine the forward centerbody assembly as follows:
(a) Examine the surfaces of forward centerbody assembly. Look for dents, wear, scratches, cracks, gouges, holes and other damage:
1 If you find damage, refer to the SRM for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(4) Visually examine the aft centerbody assembly as follows:
(a) Examine the surfaces of aft centerbody assembly. Look for dents, wear, scratches, cracks, gouges, holes and other damage:
1 If you find damage, refer to the SRM for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(b) Examine the attaching bolts on the aft centerbody assembly. Look for corrosion, wear, cracks, gouges, missing heads and missing parts. Also look for missing, stripped or crossed threads:
1 If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-03-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-03-400-801).
5. Close-up(1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact Collins Aerospace for disposition.
(2) Visually examine the exhaust nozzle assembly as follows:
(a) Examine the surfaces of exhaust nozzle assembly. Look for dents, wear, scratches, cracks, gouges, holes (other than the drain holes), damaged or missing hardware and other damage:
