B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-11-03-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Installation of the Aft Centerbody Assembly

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(1) Removal of the protection covers

CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.

(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
(2) Install the aft centerbody assembly (3).

NOTE: You cannot install the forward centerbody assembly with the aft centerbody assembly attached to it (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-02-400-801).

(a) Examine the nutplates on the forward centerbody assembly.
1 Make sure that they are not cracked, loose or damaged.
(b) Remove the aft centerbody assembly (3) from the 636-4000-22GSE EXHAUST DOLLY. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(c) Apply the Never-Seez Pure Nickel Special (Material No.PU5-0003) to the shanks, threads and under the heads of the 12 bolts (1).
(d) Installation of the AFT centerbody (3).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AFT CENTERBODY IS SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED DURING REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION. THE AFT CENTERBODY WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 11.3 LB (5.1 KG). IF IT IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.

1 Lightly push the aft centerbody assembly (3) against the forward centerbody assembly to make sure the mating surfaces equally touch each other at all points.
a Align the bolt holes.
b Loosely install the aft centerbody assembly (3) on the forward centerbody with the 12 bolts (1) and 12 washers (2).
(e) With a small space between the after centerbody assembly (3) and the bolt heads, turn each bolt (1) a small distance with a WRENCH - TORQUE.
1 Measure at the maximum torque to turn each bolt.
a If the torque is less than 3.5 lbf.in (0.040 m.daN), replace the bolt (1). Repeat this step with the new EIPC 78-11-86-10-040 BOLT (1).
(f) TORQUE the twelve bolts (1) in opposite pairs to between 90 and 85 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.96 m.daN )

NOTE: Lightly push the aft centerbody assembly (3) forward while you torque the bolts (1) to make sure the aft centerbody assembly (3) is in the correct position.

(g) Paint torque stripes on the 12 bolts (1) and the adjacent surfaces with the PU3-0025sealant, tamper proof torque seal.

5. Close-up

A. Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-805).

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
437AL, 438AR.
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
