C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 78-11-02-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) If necessary, install the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE.

A. Installation of the Forward Centerbody Assembly
(2) Remove the forward centerbody assembly (2) from the 636-4000-22GSE EXHAUST DOLLY. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(3) Apply a anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0003) to the shanks and threads of the bolts (1).
(a) Make sure that the alignment pins on the turbine exhaust case insert into the holes on the forward centerbody assembly (2).
(5) Loosely install the forward centerbody assembly (2) on the turbine exhaust case with the 20 bolts (1), the 20 washers (3) and the 20 nuts (4).
(a) Do not torque the nuts (4) at this time.
(6) Installation of the 20 bolts (1) and the 20 nuts (4):
(a) Hold the bolts (1) with a WRENCH - STANDARD.
(b) Engage each nut (4) until one bolt thread protrudes from the top of the nut (4).
(c) Turn each nut (4) a small distance with a WRENCH - TORQUE.
(d) Measure the maximum torque to turn each nut. If the torque is less than 3.5 lbf.in (0.04 m.daN), replace the nut (4) and the related bolt (1).
(e) Repeat steps 4.A.(6)(a) thru 4.A.(6)(d) with the new AIPC 78-11-86-10-070 NUT (4) and AIPC 78-11-86-10-030 BOLT (1).
(7) TORQUE the 20 nuts (4) in opposite pairs to between 130 and 125 lbf.in (1.47 and 1.41 m.daN )

(a) As an alternative, you can hold the nut (4) with the WRENCH - STANDARD and TORQUE the bolt (1) to between 130 and 125 lbf.in (1.47 and 1.41 m.daN )
.
(8) Paint torque stripes on the 20 nuts (4) and the adjacent surfaces with aPU3-0025 sealant, tamper proof .
5. Close-upCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Removal of the protection covers:CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Remove the forward centerbody assembly (2) from the 636-4000-22GSE EXHAUST DOLLY. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(3) Apply a anti-seize compound (Material No.PU5-0003) to the shanks and threads of the bolts (1).
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FORWARD CENTERBODY IS SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED DURING REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION. THE FORWARD CENTERBODY WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 12.0 LB (5.44 KG). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
(4) Put the forward centerbody assembly (2) on the turbine exhaust case.(a) Make sure that the alignment pins on the turbine exhaust case insert into the holes on the forward centerbody assembly (2).
(5) Loosely install the forward centerbody assembly (2) on the turbine exhaust case with the 20 bolts (1), the 20 washers (3) and the 20 nuts (4).
(a) Do not torque the nuts (4) at this time.
(6) Installation of the 20 bolts (1) and the 20 nuts (4):
(a) Hold the bolts (1) with a WRENCH - STANDARD.
(b) Engage each nut (4) until one bolt thread protrudes from the top of the nut (4).
(c) Turn each nut (4) a small distance with a WRENCH - TORQUE.
(d) Measure the maximum torque to turn each nut. If the torque is less than 3.5 lbf.in (0.04 m.daN), replace the nut (4) and the related bolt (1).
(e) Repeat steps 4.A.(6)(a) thru 4.A.(6)(d) with the new AIPC 78-11-86-10-070 NUT (4) and AIPC 78-11-86-10-030 BOLT (1).
(7) TORQUE the 20 nuts (4) in opposite pairs to between 130 and 125 lbf.in (1.47 and 1.41 m.daN )

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
