TASK 75-31-00-200-802-A
Mechanical Check of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) Stator Vane Control System

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
ZONE: 400
1. Reason for the Job
Use this procedure to do a mechanical check of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) stator vane systems.
NOTE: Any Electronic Engine Control (EEC) monitored faults are transmitted to the aircraft Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS).
The CFDS allows interactive dialog with the EEC.
Use the CFDS to review any EEC related faults.
If there are any EEC sensor related faults reported, troubleshoot them first.

Subtask 75-31-00-200-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Mechanical Check of the HPC Stator Vane Control System
   (1) Remove the fan exit liner segment forward of the Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) Stator Vane Actuator (SVA) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-000-801).
   (2) Do a visual inspection of the stator vane control systems (Ref. AMM TASK 75-00-00-210-802).
   (3) Do a check of the HPC stator vane control system:
     (a) If necessary, loosen or disconnect the hydraulic fuel pressure tube (CP03) and hydraulic fuel return tube (CR03) to remove hydraulic pressure from the HPC SVAs (Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-02-000-801).
     (b) Moving of the primary HPC SVA:
CAUTION: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE HPC VANES, USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED WRENCHING PAD. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO ENGINE COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
1 Apply a TORQUE to between 420 and 180 lbf.in (4.75 and 2.03 m.daN ) T on the wrenching feature to move the primary HPC SVA from the fully closed (actuator rod retracted) to the fully open (actuator rod extended) position with a WRENCH - TORQUE, STANDARD of 12 in. (304.80 mm).
a Use the MIRROR - INSPECTION, MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 03X - MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and FLASHLIGHT, if necessary to do a check to see if the actuator is fully extended and retracted.
     (c) Operation must be smooth with no binding.
     (d) Apply a TORQUE to between 420 and 180 lbf.in (4.75 and 2.03 m.daN )
T to return the HPC SVA to the fully closed (actuator rod retracted) position with a WRENCH - TORQUE, STANDARD of 12 in. (304.80 mm).
     (e) If necessary, connect the hydraulic fuel pressure tube (CP03) and the hydraulic fuel return tube (CR03) to the actuator (
Ref. AMM TASK 75-31-02-400-801).
   (4) Install the fan exit liner segment forward of the LPC SVA (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-400-801).
   (5) If necessary, do the operation test (dry motor) of the Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system engine actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-710-809).
