Installation of the Turbine Active Clearance Control (ACC) Air Valve

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 75-24-01-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Turbine Active Clearance Control (ACC) Air Valve
(1) Removal of the protection covers:
(2) Install the ACC valve (1):
(a) ApplyP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine on the threads of the two V-band coupling (2) bolts.
(b) Put the V-band coupling (2) on the inlet duct side of the valve (1).
(c) Put the V-band coupling (2) on the duct side of the valve (1).
(d) Put the valve (1) in position between the ducts.
(e) Move the V-band couplings (2) to engage the ducts and the valve (1).
(f) Tighten the coupling (2) V-band nut until it secures the coupling (2) to the flange between the lower ACC duct and the valve (1).
(g) Tap the coupling (2) retainer ring with the MALLET - SOFT FACE at several places around the perimeter.
(h) TORQUE the coupling (2) nut to between 50 and 40 lbf.in (0.57 and 0.45 m.daN )
.
(i) Tap the coupling (2) retainer ring with the MALLET - SOFT FACE at several places around the perimeter.
(j) TORQUE the coupling (2) nut to between 100 and 85 lbf.in (1.13 and 0.96 m.daN )
.
(k) Tap the coupling (2) retainer ring with the MALLET - SOFT FACE at several places around the perimeter.
(l) Do step 4.A.(2)(j) and step 4.A.(2)(k) again until no loss of torque occurs.
(m) (n) If the clearance is not uniform all around the perimeter of the valve disc, loosen the coupling (2) V-band nut and do step 4.A.(2)(f) thru step 4.A.(2)(m) again.
(o) Tighten the coupling (2) V-band nut until it secures the coupling (2) to the flange between the upper ACC inlet-duct and the valve (1).
(p) Do step 4.A.(2)(g) thru step 4.A.(2)(n) for the upper coupling (2).
PRE SB C73-00-0009A (Config-1 Initial Design Configuration)
(3) Connect the servo fuel tubes (CR11) and (CP11) to the ACC valve (1).
Turbine Active Clearance Control (ACC) Air Valve (Config-1 Initial Design Configuration) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(4) Torque the servo fuel tube (CR11) to the ACC valve (1) as follows:
(a) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )

(b) Remove the wrench.
(c) Do not loosen the B-nut.
(d) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
.
(5) Torque the servo fuel tube (CP11) on the ACC valve (1) as follows:
(a) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 375 and 340 lbf.in (4.24 and 3.84 m.daN )

(b) Remove the wrench.
(c) Do not loosen the B-nut.
(d) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 375 and 340 lbf.in (4.24 and 3.84 m.daN )

(6) Connect the servo fuel tubes (CR26) and (CP26) to the ACC valve (1).
Turbine Active Clearance Control (ACC) Air Valve (Config-2 Case Assembly Durability Improvement Configuration) ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
(7) Torque the servo fuel tube (CR26) to the ACC valve (1) as follows:
(a) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )

(b) Remove the wrench.
(c) Do not loosen the B-nut.
(d) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
.
(8) Torque the servo fuel tube (CP26) to the ACC valve (1) as follows:
(a) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 375 and 340 lbf.in (4.24 and 3.84 m.daN )
(b) Remove the wrench.
(c) Do not loosen the B-nut.
(d) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 375 and 340 lbf.in (4.24 and 3.84 m.daN )

(9) Connect the wiring harness to the ACC valve (1) as follows:
(a) Examine, align and engage the connector.
(b) While you tighten the coupling ring, push lightly inward on the connector.
(c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
(d) Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
(e) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
(f) Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(g) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-up(1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Install the ACC valve (1):
(a) Apply
(b) Put the V-band coupling (2) on the inlet duct side of the valve (1).
(c) Put the V-band coupling (2) on the duct side of the valve (1).
(d) Put the valve (1) in position between the ducts.
(e) Move the V-band couplings (2) to engage the ducts and the valve (1).
(f) Tighten the coupling (2) V-band nut until it secures the coupling (2) to the flange between the lower ACC duct and the valve (1).
(g) Tap the coupling (2) retainer ring with the MALLET - SOFT FACE at several places around the perimeter.
(h) TORQUE the coupling (2) nut to between 50 and 40 lbf.in (0.57 and 0.45 m.daN )
. (i) Tap the coupling (2) retainer ring with the MALLET - SOFT FACE at several places around the perimeter.
(j) TORQUE the coupling (2) nut to between 100 and 85 lbf.in (1.13 and 0.96 m.daN )
. (k) Tap the coupling (2) retainer ring with the MALLET - SOFT FACE at several places around the perimeter.
(l) Do step 4.A.(2)(j) and step 4.A.(2)(k) again until no loss of torque occurs.

(a) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 375 and 340 lbf.in (4.24 and 3.84 m.daN )

(b) Remove the wrench.
(c) Do not loosen the B-nut.
(d) TORQUE the tube B-nut to between 375 and 340 lbf.in (4.24 and 3.84 m.daN )

(1) Do the test No. 6 - Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system idle test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-710-807).
(2) Do the test No. 15 - operation test (dry motor) of the engine actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-710-809).
(3) Do the test No. 3 - idle power test (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-811).
(1) Do the test No. 6 - Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system idle test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-710-807).
(2) Do the test No. 15 - operation test (dry motor) of the engine actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-710-809).
(3) Do the test No. 3 - idle power test (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-811).
