A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 75-23-05-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Left Modulated Turbine Cooling (MTC) Actuator
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the threads of the four bolts (34).
   (3) Put the left MTC actuator (24) in position on the MTC bracket (32).
   (4) Install the four bolts (34) and the four spacers (33) that attach the left MTC actuator (24) to the MTC bracket (32).
   (5) TORQUE the four bolts (34) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Apply engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) on the threads of the bolt (25).
   (7) Install the bolt (25) and the nut (27) that attach the left MTC actuator (24) rod to the MTC valve link (26).
   (8) TORQUE the nut (27) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN ) T.
   (9) Apply engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) on the threads of the four bolts (35).
   (10) Install a new EIPC 73-00-00-20-040 SEAL FLANGE GASKET (36) on the left MTC actuator (24).
   (11) Install the four bolts (35) that attach the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) to the left MTC actuator (24).
   (12) Connect the MTC drain tube (29) B-nut hand-tight to the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) and to the drain tube (37).
   (13) Connect the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) B-nuts hand-tight to the fuel hydraulic manifold (28) (two locations).
   (14) TORQUE the four bolts (35) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )
T.
   (15) TORQUE the MTC drain tube (29) and the drain tube (37) B-nuts to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
   (16) TORQUE the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) B-nuts (two locations) to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
   (17) Install lockwire on the two B-nuts on the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30).
   (18) Install the drain tube (19) as follows:
     (a) Connect the drain tube (19) B-nut hand-tight to the hydraulic VSV fuel tube-hose (18).
     (b) Connect the drain tube (19) B-nut hand-tight to the drain tube (20).
     (c) TORQUE the drain tube (19) at the hydraulic VSV fuel tube-hose (18) to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
     (d) TORQUE the drain tube (19) at the drain tube (20) to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
   (19) Install the support bracket (12) as follows:
     (a) Apply engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) on the threads of the two bolts (8), bolt (14) and bolt (16).
     (b) Put the support bracket (12) in position on the support bracket (11) and install the two bolts (8).
     (c) TORQUE the two bolts (8) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Put HJ8B electrical harness (2) and HJ5B electrical harness (3) in the support bracket (12) clips.
     (e) Install the bolt (16) that attaches the loop clamp (17) and HJ5A electrical harness (1) to the support bracket (12) hand-tight.
     (f) Install the bolt (14) that attaches the loop clamp (15) and HJ8A electrical harness (7) to the support bracket (12) hand-tight.
     (g) TORQUE the bolt (14) and the bolt (16) to between 38 and 32 lbf.in (0.43 and 0.36 m.daN )
T.
   (20) Connect the electrical connector (31) to the left MTC actuator (24) receptacle (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (21) Install VBV duct 6 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-400-801).
   (22) Install the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) as follows:
     (a) Put the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) in position on the support bracket (12).
     (b) Connect the left-side-core compartment cooling-manifold (9) to the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13).
     (c) Install the hose clamp (10) that attaches the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) to the left-side-core compartment cooling-manifold (9).
     (d) TORQUE the hose clamp (10) to between 38 and 32 lbf.in (0.43 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
   (23) Install segment shroud 5 (
Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust-reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
