Installation of the Fuel Flow Transmitter

   (1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring and to stop the electrical supply to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC)

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the right thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 73-31-21-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Fuel Flow Transmitter
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you remove the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Install the fuel flow transmitter (1) on the engine as follows: see the sheet 1 of the figure.
     (a) Apply P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine or Sealing Ring Lubricant (Material No.P06-053) to the two new EIPC 73-31-21-01-090 PACKING-PREFORMED (2).
     (b) Install a packing (2) on each adapter bracket (4) and (6).
     (c) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.
P06-054) to the threads of the eight bolts (3) and the four bolts (5).
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
     (d) Attach the adapter brackets (4) and (6) to the fuel flow transmitter (1) with the eight bolts (3).
     (e) TORQUE the eight bolts (3) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN ) T in small increments and until the same torque indication holds.
     (f) Install the fuel flow transmitter (1) and the adapter brackets (4) and (6) to the brackets with the four bolts (5).
     (g) TORQUE the four bolts (5) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
T.
   (3) Attach the tube (FM01) coupling nut to the adapter bracket (4) finger-tight.
   (4) Install the fuel tube (FM02) (18) on the engine (1) as follows: see the sheet 2 of the figure.
     (a) Attach the tube (FM02) (18) coupling nuts to the adapter bracket (6) finger-tight and to the fuel oil manifold finger-tight.
     (b) Torque the tube (FM01) and the two (FM02) (18) coupling nuts as follows:
       1 TORQUE the three B-nuts to between 750 and 675 lbf.in (8.48 and 7.63 m.daN )
T.
     (c) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.
P06-054) to the threads of the bolt (20).
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
     (d) Attach the clamp (19) to the tube (FM02) (18) with the bolt (20), if necessary.
     (e) TORQUE the bolt (20) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN ) T.
     (f) Attach the clamp (16) and the heat shields (17) to the tube (FM02) (18).
     (g) TORQUE the clamp (16) to between 18 and 15 lbf.in (0.20 and 0.17 m.daN )
T.
   (5) Connect the wiring harness (WC08) connector (P27) to the transmitter receptacle (J27) as follows:
     (a) Examine, align and engage the connector.
     (b) Push lightly inward on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
     (c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
     (d) Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
     (e) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
     (f) Tighten the connector until the pliers slip on the connector ring.
   (6) Install the lower starter air duct (
Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-49-400-802).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the right thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

B. Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-805).

C. Close Access
   (1) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence

D. Test
   (1) Do the test 3A - Power Plant - Operation Test (Idle Power Test - Cowls closed) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-811).
