Installation of the Fuel Flow Transmitter
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-31-10-010-058-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 73-31-10-010-059-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Get Access

A. Installation of the Fuel Flow Transmitter
(1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
(2) If there is preservation oil in the fuel flow transmitter (3), let it drain into a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
(3) Examine the P22 fuel supply tube (14), P23 fuel supply tube (9) and fuel flow transmitter (3) for unwanted material.
(4) Put the fuel flow transmitter (3), and the two new73310501-050 GASKET, FUEL AND OIL FLANGE SEAL 11 and 73310501-030 GASKET, FUEL AND OIL FLANGE SEAL 12 in position between the P22 fuel supply tube (14) and the P23 fuel supply tube (9).

Apply a layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the fourteen bolts (10), (16), (18), (24) and (25).

Attach the flowmeter support bracket (26) or (27) to the flange of the P22 fuel supply tube (14) with two bolts (24). Tighten the bolts (24) with your hand.
(8) Attach the flange of the P22 fuel supply tube (14) to the fuel flow transmitter (3) with four bolts (25).
(a) TORQUE the four bolts (25) attached to the P22 fuel supply tube (14) and the fuel flow transmitter (3) in a crisscross pattern to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

(b) Visually make sure that all the bolt heads are installed on the fuel flow transmitter (3) flange.
(c) Make sure that the torque value in a crisscross pattern of the bolts (25) installed on the P22 fuel supply tube (14) is correct.
(9) TORQUE the two bolts (24) attached to the P22 fuel supply tube (14) and flowmeter support bracket (26) or (27) to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

Attach the flowmeter support bracket (29) or (30) to the flange of the P22 fuel supply tube (14) and fuel flow transmitter (3) with four bolts (28). Tighten the bolts (28) with your hand.
(a) TORQUE the bolts (28) attached to the P22 fuel supply tube (14) in a crisscross pattern to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

(c) Make sure that the torque value in a crisscross pattern of the bolts (28) installed on the P22 fuel supply tube (14) is correct.

Attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) to the flowmeter support bracket (17) with the two bolts (16). Tighten the two bolts (16) with your hand.
(12) Attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) and electrical harnesses support bracket (20) to the flowmeter support bracket (19) with the two bolts (18). Tighten the two bolts (18) with your hand.
(13) Attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) to the fuel flow transmitter (3) with four bolts (10).
(a) TORQUE the four bolts (10) attached to the P23 fuel supply tube (9) and the fuel flow transmitter (3) in a crisscross pattern to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

(b) Visually make sure that all the bolt heads are installed on the fuel flow transmitter (3) flange.
(c) Make sure that the torque value in a crisscross pattern of the bolts (10) installed on the P23 fuel supply tube (9) is correct.
(14) TORQUE the remaining four bolts (16) and (18) attached to the P23 fuel supply tube (9) and the flowmeter support brackets (17) and (19), and electrical harnesses support bracket (20) to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

Attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) to the flowmeter support bracket (23) with the two bolts (21). Tighten the two bolts (21) with your hand.
(16) Attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) and the fuel valve support bracket (22) with the two bolts (21). Tighten the two bolts (21) with your hand.
(a) TORQUE the bolts (21) attached to the P23 fuel supply tube (9) in a crisscross pattern to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

(b) Visually make sure all bolt heads and brackets are seated on the fuel flow transmitter (3) flange.
(c) Make sure that the torque value in a crisscross pattern of the bolts (21) installed on the P23 fuel supply tube (9) is correct.

(17) Connect the electrical connector (4) to the fuel flow transmitter (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
(18) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolt (5).
(19) Install the bolt (5) that attaches the loop clamp (6) and the HJ5A electrical harness (7) to the support bracket (8).
(20) TORQUE the bolt (5) to between 38 and 32 lbf.in (0.43 and 0.36 m.daN )

(21) Install the Variable Bleed Valve (VBV) duct 4 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-400-801).
(22) Install the segment shroud 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
(23) Install the VBV duct 2 and 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-400-801).
(24) Install the segment shroud 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
5. Close-up(1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
(2) If there is preservation oil in the fuel flow transmitter (3), let it drain into a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
(3) Examine the P22 fuel supply tube (14), P23 fuel supply tube (9) and fuel flow transmitter (3) for unwanted material.

(12) Attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) and electrical harnesses support bracket (20) to the flowmeter support bracket (19) with the two bolts (18). Tighten the two bolts (18) with your hand.
(13) Attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) to the fuel flow transmitter (3) with four bolts (10).
(a) TORQUE the four bolts (10) attached to the P23 fuel supply tube (9) and the fuel flow transmitter (3) in a crisscross pattern to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

(14) TORQUE the remaining four bolts (16) and (18) attached to the P23 fuel supply tube (9) and the flowmeter support brackets (17) and (19), and electrical harnesses support bracket (20) to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

Attach the P23 fuel supply tube (9) to the flowmeter support bracket (23) with the two bolts (21). Tighten the two bolts (21) with your hand.

(a) TORQUE the bolts (21) attached to the P23 fuel supply tube (9) in a crisscross pattern to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN )

(17) Connect the electrical connector (4) to the fuel flow transmitter (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
(18) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolt (5).
(19) Install the bolt (5) that attaches the loop clamp (6) and the HJ5A electrical harness (7) to the support bracket (8).
(20) TORQUE the bolt (5) to between 38 and 32 lbf.in (0.43 and 0.36 m.daN )
. (21) Install the Variable Bleed Valve (VBV) duct 4 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-400-801).
(22) Install the segment shroud 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
