Correct Faults of the Engine Scheduled Maintenance Report (SMR) [CFML]

TASK 73-29-00-740-813-A
Correct Faults of the Engine Scheduled Maintenance Report (SMR)

ZONE: 400
1. Reason for the Job
Refer to the MPD TASK: 730000-L1
CORRECT FAULTS OF THE ENGINE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE REPORT (SMR).
The Scheduled Maintenance Report, accessible in Menu Mode, provides a list of fault information for faults detected by the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) that are not annunciated to the flight crew or maintenance teams during normal operation or via the Post Flight Report (PFR). The scheduled maintenance report is used to review the faults detected in order to take corrective action during a scheduled maintenance check.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Push the FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch.
  • The ON legend of this pushbutton switch comes on.
   (2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
     (a) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
     (b) Install a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to use it.
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the HP ground connector to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
   (4) On the overhead panel, on the ADIRS CDU, set the three OFF/NAV/ATT selector switches to NAV (Ref. AMM TASK 34-10-00-860-002).
   (5) On the left or right Multipurpose Control and Display Unit (MCDU), get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST/ENG page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-012).
4. Procedure
Subtask 73-29-00-710-080-A
A. General
   (1) The scheduled maintenance report contains the scheduled maintenance faults for the last 64 flight legs in which a SMR fault occurs. A maximum of 12 total faults will be displayed for each flight leg. When reading the SMR, pay attention to the dates of the faults as it can display faults that have occurred months or years before. Only view and correct recent faults. The faults captured in the scheduled maintenance report are not displayed to the flight crew or maintenance teams during normal operation or via the PFR.
   (2) The scheduled maintenance report contains all scheduled maintenance faults, which include single channel scheduled maintenance report, Alpha 2, Gamma 2, Beta and Delta faults as well as dual channel scheduled maintenance report faults. Fault description and troubleshooting guidance is provided in the Trouble Shooting Manual (TSM).
NOTE: The fault will be erased automatically once 64 legs containing a fault have been accumulated.
Subtask 73-29-00-740-055-A
B. Review the Scheduled Maintenance Report in Menu Mode
NOTE: The EEC will not enter the menu mode (interactive mode) after an enquire command from the CFDS when any of the following conditions are set:
  • N2 more than ten percent or invalid
  • Rotary selector on CRANK or IGN/START or invalid
  • Manual start button on ON or invalid
  • Throttle Lever Angle (TLA) not at idle or invalid
  • Aircraft in the air
  • MASTER lever ON or invalid
  • BITE command code input label invalid.
NOTE: EEC Menu Mode will be terminated without displaying a termination screen if any of the following conditions occur:
  • The RETURN key is selected on the main menu screen
  • Engine start is detected
  • Mach is greater than 0.12 or invalid
  • Aircraft indicates it is in air.
ACTION
RESULT
1.Initialize the Menu Mode on the applicable engine and EEC channel by selecting FADEC XY (X = engine position, Y = channel designation).

2.From the Menu Mode main menu, select the key adjacent to SCHED MAINT REPORT (5R).

The Menu Mode main menu is displayed for the applicable engine and EEC channel.

The scheduled maintenance report screen is displayed, providing fault information.
It is possible that these conditions can occur in the SMR fault listing:
NOTE: Fault information may be displayed on multiple screens depending on the number of faults detected.
A. If no scheduled maintenance report faults have been detected, the scheduled maintenance report No Faults Recorded screen is displayed.
B.If "NO RESPONSE. PRESS RETURN" is displayed when you view the SMR, that indicates fault code 0382 (TCMA cutback TM fault) occurred, which cannot be displayed on the MCDU because of an EEC software error. On the page in which the fault would display, instead it will display "NO RESPONSE. PRESS RETURN". If there are faults listed in SMR before "NO RESPONSE. PRESS RETURN" is displayed which cover the last 10 flight legs based on the date of the listed faults, no additional faults need to be troubleshot, other than those listed in the SMR.
NOTE: As an example, the SMR lists a fault with a date 3 days before the date of checking the SMR. The next page in the SMR displays "NO RESPONSE. PRESS RETURN". If the aircraft has flown 10 flights in the last 3 days, then no other action is necessary other than troubleshooting the recent faults listed in the SMR.
(1)Run the FADEC Test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-710-802).
(2)Run the Idle Test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-803).
For any faults reported during tests, address in the permitted dispatch interval since the last scheduled maintenance report check.
(3)Do an EEC download of EECDSP_DIR2_X.RTV and EECCPU_NVM_X.RTV (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-55-860-801) from the EEC channel which the SMR displayed "NO RESPONSE. PRESS RETURN".
(4)Return aircraft to service if the last check is in the permitted dispatch interval since the last scheduled maintenance report check (500 hours).
(5)Contact CFM and provide the EEC download. CFM will provide the list of faults which have recently occurred and not displayed on the SMR.
C.If the EEC Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) is corrupted and the EEC is unable to retrieve the relevant faults and/or information, the scheduled maintenance report NVM Fault screen is displayed.
Make sure that there are no EEC NVM, CCDL or Central Processing Unit (CPU) faults. If you see faults, do the corrective action with the applicable TSM. After TSM procedures to correct EEC NVM, CCDL or CPU faults have been completed, do the menu mode tests that follow to get any faults again:
FADEC Test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-710-802).
Actuators Test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-802).
Idle Test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-803).
Correct any faults in the fault dispatch interval since the last engine scheduled maintenance report.
3.Review the scheduled maintenance report fault maintenance information displayed on the screen. Address the active faults as necessary per TSM.

4.When complete, select the key adjacent to RETURN to return to the menu mode main menu.
The Menu Mode main menu is displayed for the applicable engine and EEC channel.
5.Do the same procedure for the other EEC channel. In fact, each channel provides its own failures. To have a complete view of all EEC failures, both channels should be selected, one by one.

6.Repeat the steps above for the other EEC channel. Each EEC channel will only display faults for that channel. For all engine scheduled maintenance faults, the report should be run on both channels.

5. Close-up
Subtask 73-29-00-860-109-A
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) On the ENG section of the maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Release the FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch.

   (2) Do the ADIRS Stop Procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 34-10-00-860-005).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
