4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-55-710-053-A
A. Downloading of Data from the EEC
NOTE: The following procedure is based on PMAT2000 DATA KIT SECURE P/N P2KABF02. For EEC data download with other PDL P/N, follow instructions given by the PDL manufacturer's notice.
NOTE: Use the ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER to download all the EEC data.
NOTE: The data can be retrieved directly from the EEC with the PMAT 2000 KIT P2K-615A-06 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) and the ETHERNET CABLE KIT 80080-1 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER).
NOTE: To download the data using an older PMAT, the ETHERNET CABLE KIT 80080-1 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) will have to be procured separately.
NOTE: The ETHERNET CABLE KIT 80080-1 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) contains the RJ45 ADAPTER CABLE 80079-1 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) and the ethernet cables ("Straight" and "Crossover"):
  • Only the RJ45 ADAPTER CABLE 80079-1 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) needs to be used in this procedure.
  • The ethernet cables ("Straight" and "Crossover") are not required to be used in this procedure.
NOTE: Ensure that the PMAT 2000 KIT P2K-615A-06 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) has the 615A S/W IMAGE UPDATE 80719-3-UPG (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) (P/N: 80719-3-UPG or newer). If not, update the PMAT 2000 KIT P2K-615A-06 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) with the 615A S/W IMAGE UPDATE 80719-3-UPG (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) (P/N: 80719-3-UPG or newer). Refer to the software upgrade procedure from the PMAT user's guide.
NOTE: The PMAT 2000 KIT P2K-615A-06 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) contains the PMAT 2000, PMAT cable, ethernet cables (labelled "Straight" and "Crossover"), floppy disk drive, power cable and RJ45 ADAPTER CABLE 80079-1 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER). The plug is a 'United States -110 Volt' type plug, therefore, a local type plug/adapter may be required:
  • Only the PMAT 2000 and the RJ45 ADAPTER CABLE 80079-1 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) are to be used in this procedure.
  • Ensure that the PMAT cable, ethernet cables (labelled "Straight" and "Crossover") and floppy disk drive are not used during this procedure.
NOTE: The 9471M34 PMAT CABLE ASSEMBLY contains reprogramming box cable connected to a reprogramming box and an ethernet cable. The reprogramming box contains two Ethernet ports, tester receptacle and two indicator lights:
  • The 'GSE Vibration DSP Ethernet' port on the Left Hand (LH) side of the reprogramming box is used for downloading continuous engine operational data, EEC generated snapshot data, event history and bearing detailed report.
  • The 'GSE Ethernet' port on the Right Hand (RH) side of the reprogramming box is used for downloading fault history.
NOTE: The RJ45 ADAPTER CABLE 80079-1 (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) is connected to the PMAT 2000 and interfaces with the 9471M34 PMAT CABLE ASSEMBLY using the ethernet cable.
NOTE: The ethernet cables (labelled "Straight") from the PMAT 2000 Kit or the ethernet adapter kit (teledyne controls cable kit) can be used as an alternative, if the recommended ethernet cable (part of the reprogramming kit) used in this procedure is in the non-serviceable condition.
NOTE: Ensure that the engines are shutdown and that the most recent shutdown occurred at least five minutes before the beginning of the procedure.
NOTE: The EEC, when powered 'ON', must be in the 'Programming Enabled' state, in order to enable the retrieval of the data. Once the EEC is powered 'ON' and connected to PMAT 2000, the 615A S/W IMAGE UPDATE 80719-3-UPG (part of ALT45200001 PORTABLE DATA LOADER) of the PMAT 2000 can be used to retrieve the data from the EEC.
   (1) Do the following steps:
     (a) Reprogramming kit - battery charge and cable continuity self-test:
1 Remove the 'Dust Cap' from the 'GSE Vibration DSP Ethernet' on the LH side of the reprogramming box.
2 Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the 'GSE Vibration DSP Ethernet' on the LH side of the reprogramming box.
3 Remove the 'Dust Cap' from the 'GSE Ethernet' on the RH side of the reprogramming box.
4 Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to the 'GSE Ethernet' on the RH side of the reprogramming box.
5 The 'BATTERY FULLY CHARGED' light comes on and shows that the battery is charged.
NOTE: If the 'BATTERY FULLY CHARGED' light does not come on, replace the standard 9V battery on the reprogramming box.
6 Remove the 'Dust Cap' from the 'Tester Receptacle' on the reprogramming box.
7 Connect the end of the reprogramming box cable (used for connecting to the EEC J9 connector) to the 'Tester Receptacle' on the reprogramming box.
8 The 'CABLE OK' light comes on and shows that the cable is serviceable.
NOTE: If the 'CABLE OK' light does not come on, re-test by replacing the batteries on the kit before replacing the reprogramming box.
9 Replace the 'Dust Cap' on the 'Tester Receptacle'.
10 Disconnect the two ends of the ethernet cables.
11 Install the 'Dust Caps' on 'GSE Vibration DSP Ethernet' on the LH side and the 'GSE Ethernet' on the RH side of the reprogramming box.
     (b) Data downloading from one EEC channel:
1 Ensure that the engine is shutdown (engine OFF-condition).
2 Ensure that the EEC(s) are powered down.

PRE CFM SB 73-0016

3 Remove the 'Dust Cap' from the 'J9' connector on the EEC.
4 Connect the 'Reprogramming Box Cable' to the 'J9' connector on the EEC as follows:
a Touch the connector-coupling nut of the cable to the 'J9' connector body on the EEC. Hold for at least one second to dissipate any potential electrical charges on the EEC.
b Connect the 'Reprogramming Box Cable' to the 'J9' connector on the EEC.

END OF PRE CFM SB 73-0016

POST CFM SB 73-0016
