Installation of the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) Wiring Harness (W04)

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). E. Get Access

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 73-21-64-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) Wiring Harness (W04)
(2) Put the harness (W04) (1) on the engine.
(3) Connect the harness (W04) (1) connectors to the engine as follows:
(a) Connect the connector (P102) to the harness (W02) receptacle (J102) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(b) Connect the connectors (P3), (P5) and (P13) to the EEC receptacles (J3), (J5) and (J13) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(c) Connect the connector (P17) to the nacelle anti-ice P2 sensor receptacle (J17) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(d) Connect the connector (P67) to the exciter box receptacle (J67) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(e) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the two brackets as follows:
1 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the four bolts (2).
a For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
2 Install the harness (W04) (1) to the two brackets with the four bolts (2).
3 TORQUE the four bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )

(f) Connect the nacelle anti-ice temperature sensor harness connector (P55) to the harness (W04) (1) receptacle (J55) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(g) Connect the harness (W03) connectors (P106) and (P107) to the harness (W04) (1) receptacles (J106) and (J107) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(h) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the lower bifi (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-11-400-801).
(i) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the two brackets (13) and (15) as follows:
1 Engage the harness (W04) (1) to the block clamp (14) at two locations.
2 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (12).
a For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
3 Install a bolt (12) to the brackets (13) and (15) at two locations.
4 TORQUE the two bolts (12) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )

(j) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the brackets (16) and (18) as follows:
1 Engage the harness (W04) (1) to the block clamp (17).
2 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the bolt (12).
a For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
3 Install a bolt (12) to the brackets (16) and (18).
4 TORQUE the bolt (12) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )

(k) Connect the connector (P63) to the N2 probe receptacle (J63) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(l) Connect the connector (P47) to the N1 speed probe receptacle (J47) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(m) Connect the connector (P69) to the buffer air valve pressure sensor receptacle (J56) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(n) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the bracket as follows:
1 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (2).
a For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
2 Install the harness (W04) (1) to the bracket with the two bolts (2).
3 TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )

(o) Connect the connector (P44) to the fan speed probe receptacle (J44) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(p) Connect the connector (P45) to the P2.5/T2.5 probe receptacle (J45) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(q) Connect the connector (P58) to the nacelle anti-ice valve solenoid (upper) receptacle (J58) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(r) Connect the harness (WC08) connectors (P108) and (P109) to the harness (W04) (1) receptacles (J108) and (J109) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(s) Connect the connector (P11) to the Permanent Magnet Alternator (PMA) receptacle (J11) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(t) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the bracket as follows:
1 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the bolts (2) and (28).
a For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
2 Install the harness (W04) (1) to the bracket and the upper bracket with the bolts (2) and (28).
3 TORQUE the bolt (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )

4 TORQUE the bolt (28) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
.
(u) Connect the harness (WC11) connector (P105) to the harness (W04) (1) receptacle (J105) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(v) Connect the connector (P19) to the Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) Stator Vane Actuator (SVA) receptacle (J19) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(w) Connect the connector (P28) to the LPC (2.5) bleed valve actuator receptacle (J28) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
POST SB C-72-00-0105A: Harness Protection Method
(4) Wind the EIPC 73-21-64-01-380 TAPE - PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE (3) around the harness (W04) (1) at the spring clips.
(a) The tape - pressure sensitive adhesive (3) must be in the center of the spring clip.

(5) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the spring clips marked "J" as follows:
(a) Start at the middle of the harness (W04) (1).
(b) Position and push the harness (W04) (1) into all the spring clips.
(c) Make sure that all the spring clips are engaged with the harness (W04) (1).
(d) Make sure that the tension in the harness (W04) (1) is sufficient to prevent loose or tight conditions.
1 Attach the tie wrap (4) around the one harness (W04) (1) lead and the harness (W03) lead at location 1.
2 Attach the tie wrap (4) around the two harness (W04) (1) leads and the one harness (W03) lead at location 2.
(7) Examine the harness (W04) (1) for contact with the engine hardware which can cause chafing.
(8) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Put the harness (W04) (1) on the engine.
(3) Connect the harness (W04) (1) connectors to the engine as follows:
(a) Connect the connector (P102) to the harness (W02) receptacle (J102) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(b) Connect the connectors (P3), (P5) and (P13) to the EEC receptacles (J3), (J5) and (J13) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(c) Connect the connector (P17) to the nacelle anti-ice P2 sensor receptacle (J17) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(d) Connect the connector (P67) to the exciter box receptacle (J67) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(e) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the two brackets as follows:
1 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the four bolts (2).
a For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
2 Install the harness (W04) (1) to the two brackets with the four bolts (2).
3 TORQUE the four bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
. (f) Connect the nacelle anti-ice temperature sensor harness connector (P55) to the harness (W04) (1) receptacle (J55) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(g) Connect the harness (W03) connectors (P106) and (P107) to the harness (W04) (1) receptacles (J106) and (J107) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(h) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the lower bifi (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-11-400-801).
(i) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the two brackets (13) and (15) as follows:
1 Engage the harness (W04) (1) to the block clamp (14) at two locations.
2 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (12).
a For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
3 Install a bolt (12) to the brackets (13) and (15) at two locations.
4 TORQUE the two bolts (12) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
. (j) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the brackets (16) and (18) as follows:
1 Engage the harness (W04) (1) to the block clamp (17).
2 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the bolt (12).

3 Install a bolt (12) to the brackets (16) and (18).

. (k) Connect the connector (P63) to the N2 probe receptacle (J63) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(l) Connect the connector (P47) to the N1 speed probe receptacle (J47) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(m) Connect the connector (P69) to the buffer air valve pressure sensor receptacle (J56) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(n) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the bracket as follows:
1 Apply the antigalling compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the two bolts (2).
a For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
2 Install the harness (W04) (1) to the bracket with the two bolts (2).
3 TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
. (o) Connect the connector (P44) to the fan speed probe receptacle (J44) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(p) Connect the connector (P45) to the P2.5/T2.5 probe receptacle (J45) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(q) Connect the connector (P58) to the nacelle anti-ice valve solenoid (upper) receptacle (J58) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(r) Connect the harness (WC08) connectors (P108) and (P109) to the harness (W04) (1) receptacles (J108) and (J109) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(s) Connect the connector (P11) to the Permanent Magnet Alternator (PMA) receptacle (J11) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(t) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the bracket as follows:

. (u) Connect the harness (WC11) connector (P105) to the harness (W04) (1) receptacle (J105) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(v) Connect the connector (P19) to the Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) Stator Vane Actuator (SVA) receptacle (J19) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(w) Connect the connector (P28) to the LPC (2.5) bleed valve actuator receptacle (J28) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
5 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.

(4) Wind the EIPC 73-21-64-01-380 TAPE - PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE (3) around the harness (W04) (1) at the spring clips.
(a) The tape - pressure sensitive adhesive (3) must be in the center of the spring clip.

(5) Install the harness (W04) (1) to the spring clips marked "J" as follows:
(a) Start at the middle of the harness (W04) (1).
(b) Position and push the harness (W04) (1) into all the spring clips.
(c) Make sure that all the spring clips are engaged with the harness (W04) (1).
(d) Make sure that the tension in the harness (W04) (1) is sufficient to prevent loose or tight conditions.
NOTE: It is permitted to use the tape - pressure sensitive adhesive (3) on the harness if it is loose in the spring clips.
(6) Install the two new EIPC 73-21-63-01-500 TIE WRAPS (4) to the harness (W04) (1) and the harness (W03):CAUTION:
INSTALL TIE WRAPS ON THE HARNESS TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE FROM THE NACELLE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE HARNESS CAN OCCUR.
(a) 1 Attach the tie wrap (4) around the one harness (W04) (1) lead and the harness (W03) lead at location 1.
2 Attach the tie wrap (4) around the two harness (W04) (1) leads and the one harness (W03) lead at location 2.
(7) Examine the harness (W04) (1) for contact with the engine hardware which can cause chafing.
(8) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
