TASK 73-21-00-710-806-A
Test No.7 - EEC Operation Test (Self Test)

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
1. Reason for the Job
Use this procedure to check for satisfactory operation of the Full Authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC) system before you start the engine.
Use this procedure to verify the presence of existing faults and to confirm that a corrective action has eliminated the fault.
The Engine Electronic Control (EEC) system interactive test electrically verifies EEC and Prognostics and Health Management Unit (PHMU) input and output circuits.

C. Preparation for the Test
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do the test.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Release the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch (the ON legend comes on).
NOTE: After the FADEC is energized, wait ten seconds before you start the test. If you do not wait ten seconds, the interactive mode stops the EEC self-test and this can cause spurious faults.
   (3) On AIR COND panel 30VU:
     (a) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (ON legend off).
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell the persons not to use it.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position on the High Pressure (HP) ground connector to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
   (5) On the left or right MCDU, get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST/ENG page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-012).

8.Push the Return key.

   (5) Make a record of the fault messages that you see on the MCDU screen.
NOTE: The table below shows maintenance and ECAM messages which may be occasionally set for reasons which are not necessary for the normal corrective action. The recommended actions for these messages must be done to prevent delays because of corrective actions that are incorrect or not necessary.

If ENGXD-0627-AOP SNSR ELEC FAIL is set, the EEC System test can fail in Channel A with no displayed maintenance message when it should not.
Do the EEC System Test in Channel B to confirm ENGXD-0627-AOP SNSR ELEC FAIL comes on.
If YES troubleshoot this message.
If NOT, no action is required.
All software versions:
ENGXD-0695-EEC INTERNAL FAIL SHORT TIME DISPATCH
-
Reports for this fault message may incorrectly correlate to class 1 instead of class 2.
This fault message should always display class 2.
Consider this message class 2, not class 1.
Fault class 2 can be confirmed using an EEC power on and Ground Scanning Report check.
Dispatch engine as class 2 fault.
   (6) Use the record of fault messages to do the maintenance that is necessary.
   (7) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage, and correct assembly.
   (8) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
