A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is/are in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine shutdown occurred five minutes or more before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is OFF.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is/are in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

Subtask 72-32-00-210-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Check of the VSV System Resistance (force) for Inlet Guide Vane (IGV)
(1) Check the VSV System Resistance (force) for IGV, Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-32-00-210-803).
(2) Remove the engine, if any stage requires more than 100 lb (445 N) force to move the actuation ring.
Subtask 72-32-00-420-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Check the VSV System Resistance (force) for IGV, Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-32-00-210-803).
(2) Remove the engine, if any stage requires more than 100 lb (445 N) force to move the actuation ring.
B. Installation of the VSV Bellcrank Assembly
(2) Do a visual inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3) Install the VSV bellcrank assembly as follows:
(a) Apply graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the bolts (20), (21), (23) and (25).
(b) Install the mounting sleeve (50) on the head-end side of the assembly. Put the sleeve (50) on the inboard side of the bellcrank mounting boss on the connecting link side. Position the actuation assembly on the mounting boss and align the bolt holes.
(c) Attach the both mounting bosses, on the head-end side of the assembly, with the two washers (30) and the bolts (20) and (21).
(d) Install the mounting sleeve (50) on the rod-end side of the actuator. Put the sleeve (50) on the inboard side of the bellcrank mounting boss on the connecting link side. Position the actuation assembly on the mounting boss and align the bolt holes.
(e) Attach the mounting boss, on the rod-end and connecting link side of the assembly, with the washer (40) and the bolt (23).
(f) Attach the mounting boss, on the rod-end and connecting link side of the assembly, with the mounting spacer (60), washer (40) and bolt (25).
(g) TORQUE the two head-end bolts (20) and (21) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )

(h) TORQUE the two rod-end bolts (23) and (25) to between 225 and 215 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.43 m.daN )

(i) Lubricate the threads of the D-head bolts (70) and the nuts (80) with the graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
(j) Install the rod-ends of the connecting links to the actuation ring clevises and secure with the D-head bolts (70) and the nuts (80).

Subtask 72-32-00-420-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL 5. Close-upNOTE: Unless otherwise specified, the following steps can be used to install both VSV Actuator and bellcrank assemblies.
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.(2) Do a visual inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3) Install the VSV bellcrank assembly as follows:
(a) Apply graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) to the bolts (20), (21), (23) and (25).
(b) Install the mounting sleeve (50) on the head-end side of the assembly. Put the sleeve (50) on the inboard side of the bellcrank mounting boss on the connecting link side. Position the actuation assembly on the mounting boss and align the bolt holes.
(c) Attach the both mounting bosses, on the head-end side of the assembly, with the two washers (30) and the bolts (20) and (21).
(d) Install the mounting sleeve (50) on the rod-end side of the actuator. Put the sleeve (50) on the inboard side of the bellcrank mounting boss on the connecting link side. Position the actuation assembly on the mounting boss and align the bolt holes.
(e) Attach the mounting boss, on the rod-end and connecting link side of the assembly, with the washer (40) and the bolt (23).
(f) Attach the mounting boss, on the rod-end and connecting link side of the assembly, with the mounting spacer (60), washer (40) and bolt (25).
(g) TORQUE the two head-end bolts (20) and (21) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )
. (h) TORQUE the two rod-end bolts (23) and (25) to between 225 and 215 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.43 m.daN )
. (i) Lubricate the threads of the D-head bolts (70) and the nuts (80) with the graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
(j) Install the rod-ends of the connecting links to the actuation ring clevises and secure with the D-head bolts (70) and the nuts (80).
NOTE: The bolt head goes aft for IGV and forward for Stages 1, 2 and 3.
(k) TORQUE the nuts (80) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )

F. Test Requirements
(1) Perform manual operation of the VSV actuation (Ref. AMM TASK 72-31-00-290-002).
(2) Perform the VSV Actuator leak test (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-10-400-002).
(3) Perform the FADEC ground rest (engine motoring) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-710-040).
(4) Perform minimum idle leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-006) to ensure that on the CFDS no fault is shown related to the VSV system.
(5) Perform the Power Assurance test (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-008).
(1) Perform manual operation of the VSV actuation (Ref. AMM TASK 72-31-00-290-002).
(2) Perform the VSV Actuator leak test (Ref. AMM TASK 75-32-10-400-002).
