A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine shutdown occurred five minutes or more before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is OFF.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

Subtask 72-32-00-020-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Disconnect the bellcrank tie-rods from the actuation ring clevises:
(1) On each VSV stage, remove the D-head bolts (70) and self-locking nuts (80) that attach the tie-rods to the actuation rings on the left and right sides.

B. Perform a VSV resistance (force) check for Inlet Guide-Vane (IGV) stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3 that follows:
(1) For each VSV stage, attach the DYNAMOMETER 200 DAN (449 LBF)-PULL to the clevis of each actuation ring and pull the actuation ring to rotate the stage from full open to full closed and then back to full open.
(2) Record the value for each direction (open and closed) for each VSV stage.
Subtask 72-32-00-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) For each VSV stage, attach the DYNAMOMETER 200 DAN (449 LBF)-PULL to the clevis of each actuation ring and pull the actuation ring to rotate the stage from full open to full closed and then back to full open.
(2) Record the value for each direction (open and closed) for each VSV stage.
C. Connect the bellcrank tie-rods to the actuation ring clevises.
(2) Connect the tie-rods to the clevises on the actuation rings with the D-head bolts (70) and the self-locking nuts (80).

5. Close-upWARNING:
REFER TO THE PRODUCT LABEL AND THE MANUFACTURER'S (MATERIAL) SAFETY DATA SHEET (SDS) FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON THE HAZARDS, STORAGE, SAFE HANDLING AND CORRECT USE OF CONSUMABLE PRODUCTS.
(1) Lubricate the threads of the D-head bolts (70) with a graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) . (2) Connect the tie-rods to the clevises on the actuation rings with the D-head bolts (70) and the self-locking nuts (80).
NOTE: The D-head bolts (70) point aft for the IGV and forward for stages 1, 2 and 3.
(3) TORQUE the self-locking nuts (80) to between 115 and 105 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.19 m.daN )

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040).
