3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-00-00-941-251-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

4. Procedure
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
Subtask 72-00-00-630-052-A
A. Depreservation for an Engine Preserved for a Period up to Ten Days
   (1) Remove covers, as applicable, from the engine.
   (2) Make sure that there is no unwanted material

B. Depreservation for an Engine Preserved for a Period up to 30 Days
   (1) Remove all moisture barrier material, seals, caps, covers, dessicant bags as applicable, from the engine.
   (2) Make sure that there is no unwanted material

C. Depreservation for an Engine Preserved for a Period up to 90 Days
   (1) Remove all moisture barrier material, seals, caps, covers, dessicant bags as applicable, from the engine.
   (2) Drain the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-808).
   (3) Drain the accessory drive assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-802).
   (4) Fill the oil tank with approved engine oil (Material No.CP2442) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-805) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-806).
   (5) Do a wet motoring check of the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-700-804).
NOTE: Do a wet motoring of the engine until fuel sprays out of the back of the engine.
   (6) Do one or several dry motoring to remove the remaining fuel (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-700-805).
   (7) Check oil level and replenish as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-805).
Subtask 72-00-00-630-055-A
D. Depreservation of an Engine after Preservation between 30 and 365 Days
   (1) Remove all the moisture barrier material, seals, caps, covers, desiccant bags, as applicable, from the engine.
   (2) Drain the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-808).
   (3) Drain the accessory drive assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-802).
   (4) Fill the oil tank with approved engine oil (Material No.CP2442) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-805) or (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-806).
   (5) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) drain to collect the fuel.
     (a) Do a wet-motoring check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-700-804).
NOTE: Do the wet-motoring with the fuel sprays in view at the exhaust during 30 seconds.
NOTE: A failed light-off with flames or no-light can occur. If this occurs, do the alternative wet-motoring procedure with the menu mode.
NOTE: During the depreservation of the engine, it is possible that you will see the fuel leaks that follow:
  • Large fuel discharge at the LPT drain.
  • Small fuel leak at the interface between the "B" sump drain line and the engine casing.
     (b) Wet-motoring test (alternative procedure):
       1 Do the wet motoring of the engine with the wet-motor test menu-mode (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-822). When you use the wet-motor test menu-mode, make sure that you keep the fuel ON during 30 seconds to make sure that you get a satisfactory purge of the fuel manifolds.
NOTE: During the depreservation of the engine, it is possible that you will see the fuel leaks that follow:
  • Large fuel discharge at the LPT drain.
  • Small fuel leak at the interface between the "B" sump drain line and the engine casing.
   (6) Do one or more dry-motoring procedures to remove the remaining fuel (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-700-805).
   (7) Do a check of the oil level and add oil as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-805).
   (8) If performing engine depreservation for returning an aircraft to operation after a parking or storage period, then run FADEC test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-710-802) and idle test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-803) on both channels. Correct any faults identified during tests.
