E. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

F. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 71-51-40-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the IDG-EDP-MON Harness
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Examine the tape (Material No.PU1-0052) around the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) branches to the connectors (401VC-A), (404VC-A) and (405VC-A). If the tape is damaged, remove it.
NOTE: Step 4.A.(2) is not necessary if there is no damage to the tape or if there is no tape on the harness.
   (3) If necessary, wind the tape (Material No.PU1-0052) around each of the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) branches to the connectors (401VC-A), (404VC-A) and (405VC-A) to prevent chaffing.
     (a) Make sure that each layer of the tape (Material No.PU1-0052) overlaps a part of a layer you applied before so that you cannot see the bare harness.
     (b) Do not attach the branches together with the tape. See view W of the figure:

NOTE: You can use the tape (Material No.PU1-0052A) as an alternative to the tape (Material No.PU1-0052) .
   (4) Install the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Put the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) in the spring clip on the PW bracket.
     (b) Put the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) in the spring clip on the engine duct bracket.
     (c) Put the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) in the spring clip on the LP-ECS duct assembly.
     (d) Put the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) in the two spring clips on the engine duct clamp brackets.
     (e) Put the clamp (3) and the two clamps (7) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (f) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (3) to the electrical heatshield bracket with the bolt (1) and the washer (2).
       1 Put the INSTL REF band on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) in the center of the clamp (3).
         a Do not torque the bolt (1) at this time.
     (g) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the two clamps (7) to the electrical heatshield bracket with the two bolts (5) and the two washers (6).
       1 Do not torque the bolts (5) at this time.
     (h) Put the clamp (10) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (i) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (10) to the middle support return fuel bracket with the bolt (8) and the washer (9).
       1 Do not torque the bolts (8) at this time.
     (j) Put the clamp (29) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (k) Remove the bolt (26), the two washers (27) and the nut (28) from the Loop-B fire harness and clamp.
     (l) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (29) to the Loop-B fire harness and clamp.
       1 Put the two clamps where there is the least clearance for the harnesses.
       2 Use the bolt (26), the two washers (27) and the nut (28).
         a Do not torque the nut (28) at this time.
     (m) Put the clamp (13) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (n) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (13) to the lower support upper return fuel bracket with the bolt (11) and the washer (12).
       1 Put the INSTL REF band on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) in the center of the clamp (13).
         a Do not torque the bolt (11) at this time.
     (o) Put the clamp (16) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (p) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (16) to the lower support middle return fuel bracket with the bolt (14) and the washer (15).
       1 Put the INSTL REF band on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) in the center of the clamp (16).
         a Do not torque the bolt (14) at this time.
     (q) Put the clamp (19) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (r) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (19) to the PW bracket with the bolt (17) and the washer (18).
       1 Do not torque the bolt (17) at this time.
     (s) Put the clamp (33) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (t) Remove the bolt (30), the two washers (31) and the nut (32) from the Loop-A fire harness and clamp.
     (u) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (33) to the Loop-A fire harness and clamp.
       1 Put the two clamps where there is the least clearance for the harnesses.
       2 Use the bolt (30), the two washers (31) and the nut (32).
         a Do not torque the nut (32) at this time.
     (v) Put the clamp (37) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (w) Remove the bolt (34), the two washers (35) and the nut (36) from the ECS and PW harnesses and the two clamps.
     (x) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (37) to the ECS and PW harnesses and the two clamps.
       1 Put the three clamps where there is the least clearance for the harnesses.
       2 Use the bolt (34), the two washers (35) and the nut (36).
         a Do not torque the nut (36) at this time.
     (y) Put the clamp (22) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (z) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (22) to the AOC support return fuel bracket with the bolt (20) and the washer (21).
       1 Do not torque the bolt (20) at this time.
     (aa) Put the clamp (38) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (ab) Hold the bottom of the bolt under the electrical heatshield bracket so that it will not fall through the hole.
       1 Remove the nut and the washer that attach the bolt and other hardware to the electrical heatshield bracket.
     (ac) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (38) to the electrical heatshield bracket with the existing bolt, washer and nut.
       1 Do not torque the existing nut at this time
     (ad) Put the clamp (25) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (ae) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (25) to the engine duct bracket.
       1 Use the bolt (23) and the washer (24).
       2 Put the INSTL REF band on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) in the center of the clamp (25).
         a Do not torque the bolt (23) at this time.
     (af) Put the clamp (41) on the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (ag) Attach the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) and the clamp (41) to the engine duct bracket with the bolt (39) and the washer (40).
       1 Do not torque the bolt (39) at this time.
     (ah) Connect the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) connectors (401VC-A), (405VC-A) and (404VC-A) to the pylon interface.
       1 Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with the PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (ai) Connect the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) connector (3030GD-A) to the engine driven pump.
       1 Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with the PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (aj) Connect the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) connector (4080KS-A) to the low oil pump switch.
       1 Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with the PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (ak) Connect the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) connectors (4000XU-C), (4000XU-A) and (4000XU-B) to the Integrated Drive Generator (IDG).
       1 Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with the PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
     (al) Adjust the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) to keep the preload to a minimum. Make sure that there are no kinks in the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4).
     (am) CONFIGURATION 1
       1 Put the clamp (44) on the branch of the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) to connector (4000XU-B).
       2 Put the clamp (45) on the branch of the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) to connector (4000XU-A).
       3 Put the two clamps (44) and (45) where they will maximize the clearance between the harnesses and other parts.
     (an) CONFIGURATION 1
       1 Attach the clamp (44) to the clamp (45) with the bolt (46), the two washers (43) and the nut (42).
       2 Put one washer (43) adjacent to the head of the bolt (46).
       3 Put the other washer (43) adjacent to the nut (42).
     (ao) CONFIGURATION 1
TORQUE the nut (42) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN ) T.
     (ap) Tighten the bolts and the nuts:
       1 TORQUE the bolts (1), (5), (8), (11), (14), (17), (20), (23) and (39) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )
T.
       2 TORQUE the nuts (28), (32) and (36) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
T.
       3 TORQUE the existing nut on the electrical heatshield bracket to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN )
T.
   (5) Attach together the three branches of the IDG-EDP-MON harness (4) with the connectors (401VC-A), (404VC-A) and (405VC-A) to prevent chaffing.
     (a) Use the PU1-0028tape, tying.
     (b) Attach the harness branches together near the point where the branches divide from each other.
     (c) Also attach the harness branches together near the pylon connections. See view W of the figure:

NOTE: You can use the tape (Material No.PU1-0049) or the lacing tape (Material No.PU1-0092) as alternatives to the PU1-0028tape, tying.

F. Tests
   (1) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
(Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-400-802)
   (2) Do the operational test of the IDG disconnect system (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-00-710-803).
   (3) Do the operational test of the Engine Interface Unit (EIU) with the CFDS (Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-710-802).
   (4) Do the operational test of the EDP depressurization (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-710-004).
