Installation of the Cabin Window of the Overwing Emergency-Exit Door

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 56-31-65-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Put on a safety harness:
WARNING: YOU MUST PUT ON AND ATTACH A SAFETY HARNESS BEFORE YOU START WORK:
  • ON THE THS OR IN THE REAR FUSELAGE
  • ON TOP OF THE WINGS OR PYLONS.
WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
     (a) If you do the work on the wings, make sure that the individual pad system is installed (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).
     (b) Put on and attach a safety harness before you start the work in the work area.
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is in position below applicable overwing emergency-exit door 833 (843) or 834 (844).
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
   (4) In the cockpit, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
   (5) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (6) Make sure that applicable overwing emergency-exit door 833 ( 843) or 834 ( 844) is closed, latched and locked (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (7) Make sure that the overwing emergency-exit door is disarmed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-710-802).
   (8) Make sure that you obeyed the special precautions before you do the work on the offwing escape-slide systems (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
   (9) Make sure that you removed the adjacent door linings (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-803).

4. Procedure
Subtask 56-31-65-160-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for the Installation
CAUTION: WEAR LINT FREE COTTON GLOVES WHEN YOU TOUCH THE CLEAN OR TREATED SURFACES. BARE HANDS CAN CAUSE CONTAMINATION.
   (1) Examine the window panes to make sure that they are not damaged.
   (2) Clean the inner pane (7), the rubber seal (8) and the outer pane (9) with clean and warm water.
   (3) Do a check and make sure that all abrasive particles are removed from the components.
   (4) Use a clean SPONGE or CHAMOIS LEATHER with a weak solution of soap and water to do the cleaning procedure again.
   (5) Dry the components with the CHAMOIS LEATHER.
   (6) Use Cleaner-Plastic - - (Material No.08CSA9) and a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to remove the remaining stains and/or dirty marks.
   (7) Remove the plastic cleaner with clean water.
   (8) Apply anti-static treatment on the window panes:
     (a) Mix 7 units of Cleaner-Plastic - - (Material No.08CSA9) with 60 units of water.
     (b) Apply the plastic cleaner solution on the window panes.
     (c) Let the window panes dry.
     (d) Polish the window panes with the clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (9) Install the inner pane (7) and the outer pane (9) in the rubber seal (8).
   (10) Make sure that the inner pane (7) and the outer pane (9) align with the alignment marks.
   (11) Make sure that the window frame (1) is clean and with no dents, damaged paint or corrosion.
   (12) Make sure that the retainer (3), the nuts (4) and the eye bolts (5) are in the correct condition.

B. Installation of the Cabin Window
NOTE: It is important to put on GLOVES - COTTON, LINT-FREE, CLEAN when you touch the window panes, components and assemblies.
   (1) Clean the mating surfaces of the window frame (1), the retainer (3) and the cabin window (2) with Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (2) Install the cabin window (2) in the correct position on the window frame (1).
   (3) Make sure that the vent hole (6), through the inner pane (7), is at the bottom of the cabin window (2).
   (4) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) between the holes of the retainer (3) and the eye bolts (5) of the window frame (1).
   (5) Install the retainer (3) in the correct position on the cabin window (2).
   (6) Install the nuts (4).
   (7) TORQUE the nuts (4) to between 0.65 and 0.55 m.daN (57.52 and 48.67 lbf.in ) T.
   (8) Make sure that you tighten the forward and the aft nuts (4) crosswise first and then the top and the bottom nuts (4).
   (9) Apply a torque match mark to the nuts (4) with Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.
04SAB2) .
   (10) Make sure that you can see the seal of the cabin window (2) along the full surface of the window frame (1) (as seen from the outer side of the aircraft).
   (11) Make sure that distance A between the outer surface of the cabin window (2) and the outer surface of the window frame (1) is 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

A. Close Access
   (1) Install the removed door linings (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-803).
   (2) Make sure that the overwing emergency-exit door is armed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-710-802).
   (3) Remove the individual pad system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 56-31-65-860-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Obey the special precautions after you completed the work on the offwing escape-slide systems (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-081-001).
   (3) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002).
   (4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
