Installation of the Door Actuator

Subtask 52-36-18-860-057-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
(2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(5) Make sure that the warning notices are in position.
(6) Make sure that the CONTAINER - HYDRAULIC FLUID RESISTANT is below the flexible hoses.
Subtask 52-36-18-865-051-A (1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002).
(2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(3) Make sure that the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(4) Make sure that the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is disconnected (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
(5) Make sure that the warning notices are in position.
(6) Make sure that the CONTAINER - HYDRAULIC FLUID RESISTANT is below the flexible hoses.
B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

Subtask 52-36-18-820-050-A
A. Pre-Adjustment of the Replacement Door Actuator
(1) If attached, remove the instruction/caution label from the replacement door actuator (16). Do this before you install the actuator on the aircraft.
(2) Fully extend the piston of the door actuator (16) until the internal mechanical locking mechanism engages.
(3) Measure the distance between the eye-end of the fully extended door actuator (16). Make sure that the distance is the same as the removed door actuator.
(4) If the distance is not the same, adjust the length of the replacement door actuator (16) as follows:
(a) Loosen the jam nut (8) and disengage the two parts of the lock washer (7).
(b) Turn the eye-end (10) as necessary until the replacement door actuator (16) has the same length as the removed door actuator.
(c) Put the two parts of the lock washer (7) in position.
(d) TORQUE the jam nut (8) to between 14.5 and 12.5 m.daN (106.93 and 92.18 lbf.ft )
.
(e) Make sure that you cannot see the hole from the thread of the eye-end (10).
Subtask 52-36-18-910-051-A (1) If attached, remove the instruction/caution label from the replacement door actuator (16). Do this before you install the actuator on the aircraft.
(2) Fully extend the piston of the door actuator (16) until the internal mechanical locking mechanism engages.
(3) Measure the distance between the eye-end of the fully extended door actuator (16). Make sure that the distance is the same as the removed door actuator.
(4) If the distance is not the same, adjust the length of the replacement door actuator (16) as follows:
(a) Loosen the jam nut (8) and disengage the two parts of the lock washer (7).
(b) Turn the eye-end (10) as necessary until the replacement door actuator (16) has the same length as the removed door actuator.
(c) Put the two parts of the lock washer (7) in position.
(d) TORQUE the jam nut (8) to between 14.5 and 12.5 m.daN (106.93 and 92.18 lbf.ft )
. (e) Make sure that you cannot see the hole from the thread of the eye-end (10).
B. Preparation of the Replacement Components
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
(4) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) or sealant as given on the instruction plate (if installed) on the area where the washers touch the bushes.
(6) Apply Silicone base Grease-Mechanisms and Seals - - (Material No.03JCA9) on the actuator bolts.
(7) Make sure that all the bushes are in the correct condition.
(8) Use the PUMP - HAND, HYDRAULIC to fill the door actuator (16) with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
(9) Make sure that the door actuator (16) is fully extended and the mechanical locking mechanism engages.
(10) Before you fill and extend the door actuator (16), make sure that it is fully retracted. This will prevent a large quantity of air bubbles.
(11) Make sure that the replacement door actuator (16) is filled with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
Subtask 52-36-18-420-050-B (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
(4) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) or sealant as given on the instruction plate (if installed) on the area where the washers touch the bushes.
(6) Apply Silicone base Grease-Mechanisms and Seals - - (Material No.03JCA9) on the actuator bolts.
(7) Make sure that all the bushes are in the correct condition.
(8) Use the PUMP - HAND, HYDRAULIC to fill the door actuator (16) with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
(9) Make sure that the door actuator (16) is fully extended and the mechanical locking mechanism engages.
(10) Before you fill and extend the door actuator (16), make sure that it is fully retracted. This will prevent a large quantity of air bubbles.
(11) Make sure that the replacement door actuator (16) is filled with Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) .
C. Installation of the Door Actuator
(2) Attach the door actuator (16) to the actuator beam (24) as follows:
(a) If removed, install the bushes (20) and (21) in the fork end of the actuator beam (24).
(b) Put the door actuator (16) in position.
(c) Install the bolt (22), the washers (23) and the nut (25).
(d) Tighten the nut (25) with your hand but do not safety it at this time.
(3) Attach the door actuator (16) to the cargo door structure as follows:
(a) If removed, install the bushes (9) and (11) in the fork end of the actuator attachment fitting (4).
(b) Put the eye end (10) in position in the fork end of the actuator attachment fitting (4).
(c) Make sure that the holes of the eye end (10) align with the holes of the fork end of the actuator attachment fitting (4).
(d) If the holes do not align, adjust the length of the door actuator (16) until the bolt (5) goes in freely (refer to Para. A).
(e) Make sure that the bonding angle of the eye end (10) points down.
(f) If you cannot install the bolt (5), carefully turn the piston rod (6) until the bolt (5) goes in freely.
(g) Install the bolt (5), the washers (3) and the nut (2).
(h) Make sure that you cannot see the hole from the thread of the eye-end (10).
(i) Make sure that the bolt (5) goes in freely.
(j) Tighten the nut (2) with your hand but do not safety it at this time.
(4) Install the hydraulic connections on the door actuator as follows:
(a) Remove the blanking plugs from the ports and the blanking caps from the flexible hoses (28) and (29).
(b) Make sure that the union nuts of the flexible hoses (28) and (29) are serviceable.
(c) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) on the threads of the unions.
(d) Install the flexible hose (29) in port A and tighten the union nut with your hand.
(e) Install the flexible hose (28) in port B and tighten the union nut with your hand.
(f) TORQUE the union nuts of the flexible hoses (28) and (29) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
.
(5) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connector (27) and the receptacle.
(6) Connect the electrical connector (27) to the receptacle of the proximity switch.
(7) If you replaced the two door actuators of the cargo door, adjust the door opening angle (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-004).
Subtask 52-36-18-865-052-A CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO APPLY COUNTERTORQUE TO THE UNION WHEN YOU DISCONNECT/CONNECT HYDRAULIC LINES ON UNIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE SECOND WRENCH, THERE IS A RISK THAT YOU WILL LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE UNION TOO MUCH.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
(1) Make sure that the door actuator (16) is locked in the fully extended position and internally locked. (2) Attach the door actuator (16) to the actuator beam (24) as follows:
(a) If removed, install the bushes (20) and (21) in the fork end of the actuator beam (24).
(b) Put the door actuator (16) in position.
(c) Install the bolt (22), the washers (23) and the nut (25).
(d) Tighten the nut (25) with your hand but do not safety it at this time.
(3) Attach the door actuator (16) to the cargo door structure as follows:
(a) If removed, install the bushes (9) and (11) in the fork end of the actuator attachment fitting (4).
(b) Put the eye end (10) in position in the fork end of the actuator attachment fitting (4).
(c) Make sure that the holes of the eye end (10) align with the holes of the fork end of the actuator attachment fitting (4).
(d) If the holes do not align, adjust the length of the door actuator (16) until the bolt (5) goes in freely (refer to Para. A).
(e) Make sure that the bonding angle of the eye end (10) points down.
(f) If you cannot install the bolt (5), carefully turn the piston rod (6) until the bolt (5) goes in freely.
(g) Install the bolt (5), the washers (3) and the nut (2).
(h) Make sure that you cannot see the hole from the thread of the eye-end (10).
(i) Make sure that the bolt (5) goes in freely.
(j) Tighten the nut (2) with your hand but do not safety it at this time.
(4) Install the hydraulic connections on the door actuator as follows:
(a) Remove the blanking plugs from the ports and the blanking caps from the flexible hoses (28) and (29).
(b) Make sure that the union nuts of the flexible hoses (28) and (29) are serviceable.
(c) Apply the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - - (Material No.02ABA1) on the threads of the unions.
(d) Install the flexible hose (29) in port A and tighten the union nut with your hand.
(e) Install the flexible hose (28) in port B and tighten the union nut with your hand.
(f) TORQUE the union nuts of the flexible hoses (28) and (29) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
. (5) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connector (27) and the receptacle.
(6) Connect the electrical connector (27) to the receptacle of the proximity switch.
(7) If you replaced the two door actuators of the cargo door, adjust the door opening angle (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-004).
D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Preparation for the Test
(1) Remove the warning notices from the ground service panel and the overhead panel of the cockpit.
(2) Connect the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
(3) Pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(4) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
(5) Remove the support struts from the cargo door and the fuselage frames (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-080-001).
(6) Bleed the door hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 52-36-00-600-001).
Subtask 52-36-18-710-051-A (1) Remove the warning notices from the ground service panel and the overhead panel of the cockpit.
(2) Connect the isolation coupling of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-002).
(3) Pressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
(4) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-863-001).
(5) Remove the support struts from the cargo door and the fuselage frames (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-080-001).
(6) Bleed the door hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 52-36-00-600-001).
F. Operational Test
(1) Open the cargo door and measure the door opening angle which must be between between 134 deg and 136 deg.
(2) If necessary, adjust the door opening angle (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-004).
(3) Make sure that the piston rod (6) of the door actuator stays clear of the ceiling line during the door movement.
(4) Make sure that you cannot see the hole from the thread of the eye-end (10).
(5) Examine the hydraulic connection of the door actuator (16) and make sure that there are no leaks.
Subtask 52-36-18-420-052-B (1) Open the cargo door and measure the door opening angle which must be between between 134 deg and 136 deg.
(2) If necessary, adjust the door opening angle (Ref. AMM TASK 52-31-11-820-004).
(3) Make sure that the piston rod (6) of the door actuator stays clear of the ceiling line during the door movement.
(4) Make sure that you cannot see the hole from the thread of the eye-end (10).
(5) Examine the hydraulic connection of the door actuator (16) and make sure that there are no leaks.
G. Final Installation of the Door Actuator
(1) Attach the bonding jumpers as follows:
(a) Install the bonding jumper (14) with the screw (12), the washer (13) and the nut (15) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(b) Install the bonding jumper (19) with the screw (17) and the washer (18) on the door actuator (16) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(2) TORQUE the nut (25) to between 1.35 and 1.0 m.daN (119.47 and 88.50 lbf.in )
.
(3) For the FWD cargo-compartment door, install the new AIPC 52-36-02-03-080 COTTER PIN (26) or the new AIPC 52-36-82-03-080 COTTER PIN (26). For the aft cargo-compartment door, install the new AIPC 52-36-04-08-080 COTTER PIN (26) or the new AIPC 52-36-84-40-080 COTTER PIN (26).
(4) TORQUE the jam nut (8) to between 14.5 and 12.5 m.daN (106.93 and 92.18 lbf.ft )

14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - to the lock washer (7).
(6) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 1.35 and 1.0 m.daN (119.47 and 88.50 lbf.in )
.
(7) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the jam nut (8) and the lock washer (7). Make sure that the sealant does not touch the piston seal or the piston of the door actuator (16).
(8) For the FWD cargo-compartment door, install the new AIPC 52-36-02-03-080 COTTER PIN (1) or the new AIPC 52-36-82-03-080 COTTER PIN (1). For the aft cargo-compartment door, install the new AIPC 52-36-04-08-080 COTTER PIN (1) or the new AIPC 52-36-84-40-080 COTTER PIN (1).
5. Close-up(1) Attach the bonding jumpers as follows:
(a) Install the bonding jumper (14) with the screw (12), the washer (13) and the nut (15) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(b) Install the bonding jumper (19) with the screw (17) and the washer (18) on the door actuator (16) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(2) TORQUE the nut (25) to between 1.35 and 1.0 m.daN (119.47 and 88.50 lbf.in )
. (3) For the FWD cargo-compartment door, install the new AIPC 52-36-02-03-080 COTTER PIN (26) or the new AIPC 52-36-82-03-080 COTTER PIN (26). For the aft cargo-compartment door, install the new AIPC 52-36-04-08-080 COTTER PIN (26) or the new AIPC 52-36-84-40-080 COTTER PIN (26).
(4) TORQUE the jam nut (8) to between 14.5 and 12.5 m.daN (106.93 and 92.18 lbf.ft )
. WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(5) Safety the jam nut (8) with (6) TORQUE the nut (2) to between 1.35 and 1.0 m.daN (119.47 and 88.50 lbf.in )
. (7) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the jam nut (8) and the lock washer (7). Make sure that the sealant does not touch the piston seal or the piston of the door actuator (16).
(8) For the FWD cargo-compartment door, install the new AIPC 52-36-02-03-080 COTTER PIN (1) or the new AIPC 52-36-82-03-080 COTTER PIN (1). For the aft cargo-compartment door, install the new AIPC 52-36-04-08-080 COTTER PIN (1) or the new AIPC 52-36-84-40-080 COTTER PIN (1).

A. Close Access
(1) Remove the container.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Close the FWD and/or aft cargo-compartment door(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(5) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(6) Remove the warning notices.
(1) Remove the container.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Close the FWD and/or aft cargo-compartment door(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(5) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(6) Remove the warning notices.
