AVOID PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO ENGINE OIL ON YOUR SKIN FLUSH OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, GOGGLES AND FACE MASK. OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN PENETRATE YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
(2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw OFF.
(3) Make sure that there is a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 49-91-44-865-083-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized

C. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the access platform is in position below the APU compartment.
(2) Make sure that the APU access doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3) Make sure that the LIGHT control SW 11LJ is set to the ON position.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the access platform is in position below the APU compartment.

Subtask 49-91-44-420-057-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Oil-Cooler Transfer Tubes
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do a visual inspection of the tubes (2) and (5) for evidence of aluminum deposits, rough surfaces or deformation. Replace the tube(s) if you find defects.
(4) Do a visual inspection of the threads on the tube mount boss studs for, chipping, galling or deformation. Replace the oil cooler (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-44-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-44-400-003) if you find defects.
(5) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(6) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) to the new AIPC 49-21-04-50-170 PACKING (10) or AIPC 49-21-84-20-170 PACKING (10).
(7) Install the new packing (10) on the union (9).
(8) Install the union (9) in the tube nut (8).
(9) TORQUE the union (9) to between 200 and 150 lbf.in (2.26 and 1.70 m.daN )
.
(10) Connect the tube (2).
(11) Hold the union (9) with a wrench while you torque the tube nut (8) to prevent torque transfer.
(12) TORQUE the tube nut (8) to between 950 and 850 lbf.in (10.74 and 9.61 m.daN )
.
(13) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) to the new AIPC 49-21-04-50-140 PACKING (3) or AIPC 49-21-84-20-140 PACKING (3).
(14) Put the new packing (3) on the tube (2).
(15) Insert the tube (2) into the oil cooler (4) and attach the packing (3) to the tube mount boss studs with the two nuts (1).
(16) TORQUE the two nuts (1) to between 53 and 48 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.54 m.daN )
.
(17) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) to the new AIPC 49-21-04-51-210 PACKING (7) or AIPC 49-21-84-20-140 PACKING (7).
(18) Put the new packing (7) on the tube (5).
(19) Insert the tube (5) into the oil cooler (4) and attach the packing (7) to the tube mount boss studs with the two nuts (6).
(20) TORQUE the two nuts (6) to between 53 and 48 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.54 m.daN )

(21) Connect the tube nut (11) to the union.
(22) Hold the union with a wrench while you torque the tube nut (11) to prevent torque transfer.
(23) TORQUE the tube nut (11) to between 950 and 850 lbf.in (10.74 and 9.61 m.daN )
.
(24) Install the clamp (14) with the bolt (12) and the nut (13).
(25) TORQUE the bolt (12) to between 56 and 51 lbf.in (0.63 and 0.58 m.daN )
.
(26) Clean the surfaces with a dry and clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to remove the dirt found.
Subtask 49-91-44-865-084-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
WHEN YOU INSTALL THE OIL COOLER OR THE TUBES, MAKE SURE THAT THE TUBES ARE FULLY AND TIGHTLY INSTALLED IN THE OIL COOLER OR GEARBOX MATING HOUSINGS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THERE IS A RISK THAT OIL LEAKAGE CAUSES A SMELL IN THE CABIN.
(1) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Do a visual inspection of the tubes (2) and (5) for evidence of aluminum deposits, rough surfaces or deformation. Replace the tube(s) if you find defects.
(4) Do a visual inspection of the threads on the tube mount boss studs for, chipping, galling or deformation. Replace the oil cooler (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-44-000-003) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-91-44-400-003) if you find defects.
(5) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(6) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) to the new AIPC 49-21-04-50-170 PACKING (10) or AIPC 49-21-84-20-170 PACKING (10).
(7) Install the new packing (10) on the union (9).
(8) Install the union (9) in the tube nut (8).
(9) TORQUE the union (9) to between 200 and 150 lbf.in (2.26 and 1.70 m.daN )

(14) Put the new packing (3) on the tube (2).
(15) Insert the tube (2) into the oil cooler (4) and attach the packing (3) to the tube mount boss studs with the two nuts (1).
(16) TORQUE the two nuts (1) to between 53 and 48 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.54 m.daN )
. (17) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) to the new AIPC 49-21-04-51-210 PACKING (7) or AIPC 49-21-84-20-140 PACKING (7).
(18) Put the new packing (7) on the tube (5).
(19) Insert the tube (5) into the oil cooler (4) and attach the packing (7) to the tube mount boss studs with the two nuts (6).
(20) TORQUE the two nuts (6) to between 53 and 48 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.54 m.daN )
. (21) Connect the tube nut (11) to the union.
(22) Hold the union with a wrench while you torque the tube nut (11) to prevent torque transfer.
(23) TORQUE the tube nut (11) to between 950 and 850 lbf.in (10.74 and 9.61 m.daN )
. (24) Install the clamp (14) with the bolt (12) and the nut (13).
(25) TORQUE the bolt (12) to between 56 and 51 lbf.in (0.63 and 0.58 m.daN )

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Test for Leaks
(1) Start the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005).
(2) Let the APU operate for five minutes.
(3) Stop the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006).
(4) Make sure that the oil level of the APU is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 49-90-00-600-004).
(5) Open APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(6) Oil Cooler with nut connection:
(a) Examine the tubes (2) and (5) for oil leaks.
5. Close-up(1) Start the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-005).
(2) Let the APU operate for five minutes.
(3) Stop the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-006).
(4) Make sure that the oil level of the APU is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 49-90-00-600-004).
(5) Open APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(6) Oil Cooler with nut connection:
(a) Examine the tubes (2) and (5) for oil leaks.
NOTE: No leaks are permitted.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Set the LIGHT control SW 11LJ to the OFF position.
(3) Close the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
Subtask 49-91-44-860-075-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Set the LIGHT control SW 11LJ to the OFF position.

(2) De-energize the ground service network

(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
