3. Job Set-up
Subtask 49-51-53-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) On overhead panel 25VU, on the APU section, make sure that the APU MASTER SW switch is in the off position (the ON legend is off).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell the persons not to start the APU.
   (4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (5) Make sure that the access platform is in position below the APU compartment.
   (6) Make sure that APU access doors 315AL and 316AR are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (7) Make sure that the LIGHT control switch 11LJ is set to the ON position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 49-51-53-420-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Bleed Control Valve
CAUTION: YOU MUST USE TWO WRENCHES AND HOLD THE COMPONENT WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE PIPE COUPLINGS AND/OR UNIONS. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENT.
CAUTION: -YOU MUST NOT INCREASE THE TIGHTENING TORQUE MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM VALUE.
  • APPLY ALL TIGHTENING TORQUES WITH A TORQUE WRENCH OR A CALIBRATED SCREWDRIVER.
CAUTION: DO NOT TORQUE THE V-CLAMP(S) TO MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED VALUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLANGE SURFACES.
   (1) Make sure that the bleed control valve (1) and the pneumatic duct flanges are clean and in the correct condition.
   (2) Install the filler plug (6) on the bleed control valve (1):
     (a) Install the new AIPC 49-23-04-50-020 PACKING (5) on the bleed control valve (1).
     (b) Put the filler plug (6) in position on the bleed control valve (1).
     (c) Install the bolts (8).
     (d) TORQUE the bolts (8) to between 6.28 and 6.00 m.N (55.58 and 53.10 lbf.in )
T.
   (3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (4) Put the V-band clamps (2), (17) and (20) in position on the ducts (3), (19) and (16).
   (5) Install the new
AIPC 49-51-04-50-030 PACKING (18) or AIPC 49-51-84-20-020 PACKING (18) on the bleed control valve (1).
   (6) Align the bleed control valve (1) with the outlet duct (16) and install the V-band clamp (17).
   (7) Align the bleed control valve (1) with the exhaust duct (3) and install the V-band clamp (2).
   (8) Align the bleed control valve (1) with the ECS duct (19) and install the V-band clamp (20).
   (9) Connect the tubes to the bleed control valve (1) as follows:
     (a) Connect the tube (24) to the valve union.
     (b) Connect the tube (23) to the valve elbow.
     (c) Connect the tubes (4) and (9) to the valve T-piece.
     (d) Connect the tube (25) to the valve union.
     (e) Connect the tube (26) to the valve union.
     (f) Connect the tube (22) to the valve union.
     (g) Connect the tube (21) to the valve union.
   (10) TORQUE the V-band clamp (17) to between 0.71 and 0.65 m.daN (62.83 and 57.52 lbf.in )
T.
   (11) TORQUE the V-band clamp (2) to between 0.33 and 0.29 m.daN (29.20 and 25.66 lbf.in )
T.
   (12) TORQUE the V-band clamp (20) to between 0.5 and 0.4 m.daN (44.25 and 35.40 lbf.in )
T.
   (13) TORQUE the tube nut (23) to between 1.13 and 1.02 m.daN (100.00 and 90.27 lbf.in )
T.
   (14) TORQUE the tube nut (24) to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
   (15) TORQUE the tube nut (4) on the T-piece to between 1.7 and 1.5 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
   (16) TORQUE the tube nut (9) on the T-piece to between 1.13 and 1.0 m.daN (100.00 and 88.50 lbf.in )
T.
   (17) TORQUE the tube nuts (25), (26), (21) and (22) to between 2.25 and 2.0 m.daN (16.59 and 14.75 lbf.ft )
T.
   (18) Install the clamp (11) that attaches the cable harness to the clamp-bracket support assembly (10) with the bolt (12).
   (19) Install the clamp (27) that attaches the cable harness to the bleed control valve (1) with the bolt (28).
   (20) Install the clamp (14) that attaches the cable harness to the clamp-bracket support assembly (13) with the bolts (15).
   (21) TORQUE the bolts (12) and (15) to between 4.74 and 4.52 m.N (41.95 and 40.00 lbf.in )
T.
   (22) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (23) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (24) Connect electrical connector P33 (7) to the bleed control valve (1).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Energize the CFDS to get the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page for the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-001).
   (1) Set the APU MASTER SW 14KD to ON.
   (2) Do this Test.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the MCDU:
  • push the pushbutton adjacent to the APU indication.
On the MCDU:
  • the APU menu page comes on.
  • push the pushbutton adjacent to the SYSTEM SELF-TEST indication.
  • the APU SYSTEM SELF-TEST page comes on and shows the message
    IN PROGRESS.
  • if the test is satisfactory, the message TEST OK comes on.
2.On the MCDU:
  • push the pushbutton adjacent to the RETURN display.
On the MCDU:
  • the APU menu page comes on.
  • push the pushbutton adjacent to the RETURN display.
  • the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST page comes on.
  • push the pushbutton adjacent to the RETURN display.
  • the CFDS page comes on.

D. Do the operational test of the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-710-008).
   (1) Examine the joints of the bleed control valve for leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-790-005).

5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Set the light switch 11LJ to the OFF position.
   (3) Close APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
