Installation of the Waste Tank Drain Line


WARNING: DO NOT DO WORK ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
WARNING: ALWAYS USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK:
  • ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, OR
  • ON PARTS THAT HAVE CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE SYSTEM.
WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE WORK PROCEDURE, CLEAN YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER. THIS WILL PREVENT INFECTION (TOILET WASTE IS DANGEROUS FOR HEALTH).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the toilet system is drained (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-680-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 38-31-74-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Waste-Tank Drain Line
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
   (4) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
   (5) For aircraft without freezing protection on the waste-tank drain line:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) on the packing (6).
     (b) Install the AIPC 38-31-04-32-070 PACKING (6) or AIPC 38-31-84-40-110 PACKING (6) in the groove of the waste-tank drain line (5).
     (c) Put the waste-tank drain line (5) in its correct installation position.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
     (d) Connect the applicable bonding strap (7) or (11) as follows:
       1 Put the applicable bonding strap (7) or (11) in its correct installation position.
       2 Install the bolts (8), the washers (9) and the nuts (10).
       3 Do not tighten the nuts (10) at this time.
     (e) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (f) Apply a thin layer of Lubricant-Rubber seal Glycerin - (Material No.03PEB1) on the packing (4).
     (g) Install the new AIPC 38-31-04-32-030 PACKING (4) or AIPC 38-31-84-40-040 PACKING (4) on the waste-tank drain lines (3) and (5).
   (6) For aircraft with freezing protection on the waste-tank drain line:
     (a) Apply a thin layer of Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.
03FAB1) on the packing (6).
     (b) Install the AIPC 38-31-04-32-070 PACKING (6) or AIPC 38-31-84-40-110 PACKING (6) in the groove of the waste-tank drain line (5).
     (c) Put the waste-tank drain line (5) in its correct installation position.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
     (d) Connect the applicable bonding strap (7) or (11) as follows:
       1 Put the applicable bonding strap (7) or (11) in its correct installation position.
       2 Install the bolts (8), the washers (9) and the nuts (10).
       3 Do not tighten the nuts (10) at this time.
     (e) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)

Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (f) Apply a thin layer of Lubricant-Rubber seal Glycerin - (Material No.03PEB1) on the packing (4).
     (g) Install the new AIPC 30-71-04-12-050 PACKING (4) or AIPC 30-71-84-12-070 PACKING (4) on the waste-tank drain lines (3) and (5).
   (7) Install the clamp (1) as follows:
     (a) Put the sleeve (2) in its correct installation position.
     (b) Put the clamp (1) in its correct installation position.
     (c) Install the clamp (1) and lock it.
     (d) Make sure that the clamp (1) is locked correctly:
  • The axial adjustment is not more than 6.35 mm (0.25 in.).
  • The angular misalignment is not more than +/- 4 degrees in all directions around the centerline.
   (8) Tighten the nuts (10).

C. Leak Test
   (1) Do the leak test of the vacuum toilet system (
Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-00-790-002).
   (2) Record the result of the test.
   (3) Compare the result of the test before the removal and after the installation.
NOTE: The difference between the tests must not be more than 10% of the result made before the removal.

D. Service the waste holding tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-16-38-613-001).

A. Close Access
   (1) Install the insulation around the waste drain valve.
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Install access panel 162DW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-400-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Close the aft cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).

B. De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
