3. Job Set-up
Subtask 36-11-49-941-087-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002) or (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that engine 1(2) is shutdown for a minimum of 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) In the cockpit, on AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton-switch is released (the OFF legend is on)
  • Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton-switch is released (the ON legend is off)
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
   (4) In the cockpit, on ENG panel 115VU:
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
   (5) On the HP ground connector:
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
   (6) In the cockpit, on the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
  • Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton-switch is off
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (7) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the engine.

4. Procedure
Subtask 36-11-49-420-077-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Regulator Valve to Interface Hose Assembly
   (1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
   (2) In the cockpit, on the SD bleed page:
     (a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in ambient conditions.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
   (3) Remove the protective covers from the hose assembly (55), the engine tube and the fitting on the regulator valve.
CAUTION: APPLY ONLY A THIN LAYER OF GREASE TO THE THREADS OF THE COUPLING NUTS AND THE FITTINGS ON THE VALVE, AND REMOVE UNWANTED GREASE. KEEP GREASE FROM GOING INTO THE VALVE. IF TOO MUCH GREASE IS USED, THEN GREASE MAY ENTER THE VALVE AND DAMAGE THAT COMPONENT.
   (4) Lubricate the threads on the coupling nuts and the fittings on the valve (20) with Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide & Silicone - (Material No.03QBC1) or Lubricant-Anti Seize High Temp. - (Material No.03PBB1) .
   (5) Connect the hose assembly (55) to the fitting on the regulator valve (20).
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE FITTINGS WHEN YOU LOOSEN/TIGHTEN THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE TUBES.
   (6) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose assembly (55) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN ) T.
   (7) Connect the hose assembly (55) to the engine tube.
   (8) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose assembly (55) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )

B. Installation of the Flexible Metal Pneumatic Hose Assembly
   (1) Remove the protective covers from the hose assembly (65), the engine tube and the tube assembly (10).
CAUTION: APPLY ONLY A THIN LAYER OF GREASE TO THE THREADS OF THE COUPLING NUTS, AND REMOVE UNWANTED GREASE. KEEP GREASE FROM GOING INTO THE HOSE ASSEMBLY. IF TOO MUCH GREASE IS USED, THEN GREASE MAY CLOG THE HOSE ASSEMBLY AND DAMAGE ANY RELATED COMPONENT.
   (2) Lubricate the threads of the coupling nuts and fittings with Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide & Silicone - (Material No.
03QBC1) or Lubricant-Anti Seize High Temp. - (Material No.03PBB1) .
   (3) Connect the hose assembly (65) to the tube assembly (10).
   (4) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose assembly (65) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the fitting on the tube assembly when you torque the coupling nut.
   (5) Connect the hose assembly (65) to the engine tube.
   (6) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose assembly (65) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
T.
   (7) Remove the protective covers from the hose assembly (50), the engine tube and the tube assembly (5).
CAUTION: APPLY ONLY A THIN LAYER OF GREASE TO THE THREADS OF THE COUPLING NUTS, AND REMOVE UNWANTED GREASE. KEEP GREASE FROM GOING INTO THE HOSE ASSEMBLY. IF TOO MUCH GREASE IS USED, THEN GREASE MAY CLOG THE HOSE ASSEMBLY AND DAMAGE ANY RELATED COMPONENT.
   (8) Lubricate the threads of the coupling nuts and fittings with Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide & Silicone - (Material No.
03QBC1) or Lubricant-Anti Seize High Temp. - (Material No.03PBB1) .
   (9) Connect the hose assembly (50) to the tube assembly (5).
   (10) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose assembly (50) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the fitting on the tube assembly when you torque the coupling nut.
   (11) Connect the hose assembly (50) to the engine tube.
   (12) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose assembly (50) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )

CAUTION: DO NOT BEND THE TUBE WHEN YOU INSTALL IT. IF THE TUBE IS BENT IT CAN BE DAMAGED.
C. Installation of the Tee Assembly to Hose Tube Assembly
NOTE: It is easier to install the tube if the upper link is disconnected from the bracket on the engine flange.
   (1) Remove the bolt (70), the washer (75), the bushing (80) and the nut (85) that attach the link (90) to the bracket on the engine flange at STA215 (N).
   (2) Disconnect the link (90) from the bracket on the engine flange at STA215 (N).
   (3) Remove the protective covers from the tube (5), the hose (50) and the union (60).
CAUTION: APPLY ONLY A THIN LAYER OF GREASE TO THE THREADS OF THE COUPLING NUTS AND THE FITTINGS, AND REMOVE UNWANTED GREASE. KEEP GREASE FROM GOING INTO THE TEE ASSEMBLY AND THE HOSE ASSEMBLY. IF TOO MUCH GREASE IS USED, THEN GREASE MAY CLOG THE TEE ASSEMBLY OR HOSE ASSEMBLY AND DAMAGE ANY RELATED COMPONENT.
   (4) Lubricate the threads of the coupling nuts and the fittings with Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide & Silicone - (Material No.
03QBC1) or Lubricant-Anti Seize High Temp. - (Material No.03PBB1) .
   (5) If necessary, install the union (60) on the mid stage tee duct. The tapered side of the union should face the mid stage tee duct. TORQUE the union to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Put the clamp (30) on the tube (5). Attach the clamp (30) to the bracket on the bleed air flange with the bolt (25), the washer (40) and the nut (35). Do not torque the nut at this time. (Detail G)
   (7) Put the clamp (30) on the tube (5). Attach the clamp (30) on the tube (10) to the bracket at flange STA221 (P) with the bolt (45), the washer (40) and the nut (35). Do not torque the nut at this time. (Detail D)
   (8) Put the clamp (30) on the tube (5). Attach the clamp (30) to the bracket at flange STA221 (P) with the bolt (25), washer (40) and nut (35). Do not torque the nut at this time. (Detail B)
   (9) Loosely connect the hose assembly (50) to the tube assembly (5). Do not torque the coupling nut at this time.
   (10) If necessary, adjust the tee duct links so that there is no load on the duct or the tube.
   (11) Loosely connect the tube assembly (5) to the union (60). The tube coupling nut should be easy to turn.
   (12) TORQUE the bolt (25) and nuts (35) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
T.
   (13) At the mid stage tee duct, TORQUE the coupling nut on the tube assembly (5) to between 160 and 150 lbf.in (1.81 and 1.70 m.daN )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the union when you torque the coupling nut.
   (14) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose assembly (50) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the tube (5) when you torque the hose coupling nut.
   (15) Attach the link (90) to the bracket on the engine flange at STA215 (N).
   (16) Install the bolt (70), the washer (75), the bushing (80) and the nut (85) that attach the link (90).
NOTE: Make sure the countersunk side of the washer (75) is against the head of the bolt (70).
   (17) TORQUE the nut (85) to between 70 and 50 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.57 m.daN )
T.

CAUTION: DO NOT BEND THE TUBE WHEN YOU INSTALL IT. IF THE TUBE IS BENT IT CAN BE DAMAGED.
D. Installation of the IP/HP Override Tube Assembly
NOTE: To use the CFM56-5A engine on an A320 aircraft you must do Service Bulletin RA32036-4 which replaces this tube with the HP bleed valve to pressure regulator valve tube assembly.
NOTE: It is easier to install the tube if the upper link is disconnected from the bracket on the engine flange.
   (1) Remove the bolt (70), the washer (75), the bushing (80) and the nut (85) that attach the link (90) to the bracket on the engine flange at STA215 (N).
   (2) Disconnect the link (90) from the bracket on the engine flange at STA215 (N).
   (3) Remove the protective covers from the tube assembly (10), hose assembly (65) and the fittings on valves (15) and (20).
   (4) Put the clamp (30) on the tube assembly (10). Attach the clamp (30) to the bracket at flange STA221 (P) with the bolt (25) and the washer (40). (Detail C)
   (5) Put the clamp (30) on the tube assembly (10). Attach the clamp (30) on the tube (5) to the bracket at flange STA221 (P) with the bolt (45), the washer (40) and the nut (35). (Detail D)
   (6) Put the clamp (30) on the tube assembly (10). Attach the clamp (30) to the bracket at flange STA216 (N) with the bolt (25), the washer (40) and the nut (35). (Detail E)
   (7) If necessary, loosen the couplings on the HP bleed valve (15) and the bleed pressure regulator valve (20). Adjust the position of the valves so that there is no load on the tube (10).
   (8) Loosely connect the tube assembly (10) to the valve (20). The tube coupling nut should be easy to turn.
   (9) Loosely connect the tube assembly (10) to the valve (15). The tube coupling nuts should be easy to turn.
   (10) TORQUE the bolt (25) and nuts (35) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
T.
   (11) TORQUE the nuts on the valve couplings as follows:
     (a) TORQUE the coupling nut to the value shown on the coupling.
     (b) Lightly hit the perimeter of the coupling with a HAMMER - FIBER, then torque the coupling nut again.
     (c) Do the torque procedure two times, then torque the coupling nut again.
   (12) Make sure that the tube assembly (10) is in the correct position and that there is no load on the tube.
   (13) TORQUE the coupling nuts on the two ends of the tube assembly (10) to between 160 and 150 lbf.in (1.81 and 1.70 m.daN )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the fittings on the valves when you torque the hose coupling nuts.
   (14) Connect the hose assembly (65) to the tube (10).
   (15) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose assembly (65) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the fittings on the tube (10) when you torque the coupling nut.
   (16) Attach the link (90) to the bracket on the engine flange at STA215 (N).
   (17) Install the bolt (70), the washer (75), the bushing (80) and the nut (85) that attach the link (90).
NOTE: Make sure the countersunk side of the washer (75) is against the head of the bolt (70).
   (18) TORQUE the nut (85) to between 70 and 50 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.57 m.daN )
T.
Subtask 36-11-49-720-069-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
E. Do this test:
   (1) Pressurize the bleed system through the HP ground connector (
Ref. AMM TASK 36-12-00-860-002) or with the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 36-12-00-860-001).
   (2) 0n the panel 30VU, put the X-BLEED selector switch in the OPEN position.
   (3) If you pressurize the bleed system through the HP ground connector, the supplied pressure 30 psi (2.07 bar) must be stable.
   (4) Make sure that there are no leaks at the junctions of the installed duct.
