3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-22-17-860-050-D
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below the control unit, in zone 123.
   (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position below access door 811.
   (5) Make sure that access door 811 is open.
   (6) In the avionics compartment, make sure that floor panel 127BG is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-13-000-001).
   (7) In the cockpit, on right-center instrument panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear normal control-lever (6GA) is in the DOWN position.
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (8) Make sure that the safety devices are installed:
   (9) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • In the cockpit, on the HYD section of panel 40VU
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, access door 197CB.
   (10) Make sure that the 98A32301013000 RIGGING PIN (1) is installed on the NLG-door ground-opening bypass-valve (2533GM).
   (11) Make sure that the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN (2) is installed on the NLG door uplock-assembly (2534GM) in the related hole.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-22-17-914-050-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interface between the aircraft structure and the ground door-opening handle (39).

B. Installation of the Ground Door-Opening Handle Assembly
NOTE: Two persons are necessary for this procedure.
   (1) Put the ground door-opening handle (39) in position on the aircraft structure.
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to install the ground door-opening handle (39), one in the nose gear well, one in the avionics compartment.
     (a) Install the three bolts (40), the three washers (37) and the three nuts (36).
     (b) Tighten the nuts (36) and safety them with new AIPC 32-31-01-08-010 COTTER PINS (35) or AIPC 32-31-81-08-010 COTTER PINS (35).
   (2) Put the ground door-opening handle (39) in the CLOSED position and put the safety pin (38) in position.

D. Protection of the Fasteners
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.
12ADB1) on the head of the bolts (10), (12), (40) and (52).
   (2) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) on the nuts (36) and (49).
   (3) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) on the locking nuts (7), (13) and (51).

E. Connection of the Rods to the NLG-Door Ground-Opening Control-Unit
   (1) Put the rod (31) in position in the forks of the ground door-opening handle (39) and make sure that the holes are aligned.
   (2) Install the bush (42), the bolt (41), the washer (32) and the nut (34).
   (3) Tighten the nut (34) and safety it with a new AIPC 32-31-01-08-100 COTTER PIN (33) or AIPC 32-31-81-08-100 COTTER PIN (33).
   (4) Put the rod (31) in position in the forks of the bellcrank (26) and make sure that the holes are aligned.
   (5) Install the bush (25) the bolt (24), the washer (27) and the nut (29).
   (6) Tighten the nut (29) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-01-09-010 COTTER PIN (28) or AIPC 32-31-81-09-010 COTTER PIN (28).
   (7) Put the rod (20) in position in the forks of the bellcrank (43) and make sure that the holes are aligned.
   (8) Adjustment of the Rod
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Adjust the rod (20), if necessary:
       1 Cut and discard the lockwire from the nut (46).
       2 Loosen the nut (46) and release the lockwasher (47).
       3 Turn the rod (20) until the holes are aligned.
       4 Tighten the nut (46) and safety it with lockwire 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (9) Install the bush (44), the bolt (45), the washer (21) and the nut (23).
   (10) Tighten the nut (23) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-01-09-010 COTTER PIN (22) or AIPC 32-31-81-09-010 COTTER PIN (22).
   (11) Put the rod (5) in position in the forks of the bellcrank (17) and make sure that the holes are aligned.
   (12) Adjustment of the Rod
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Adjust the rod (5), if necessary:
       1 Cut and discard the lockwire from the nut (3).
       2 Loosen the nut (3) and release the lockwasher (4).
       3 Turn the rod (5) until the holes are aligned.
       4 Tighten the nut (3) and safety it with lockwire 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (13) Install the bush (18), the bolt (19), the washer (16) and the nut (15).
   (14) Tighten the nut (15) and safety it with a new
AIPC 32-31-01-09-010 COTTER PIN (14) or AIPC 32-31-81-09-010 COTTER PIN (14).

F. Removal of the Rigging Pins
   (1) Remove the
98A32301013000 RIGGING PIN (1) from the NLG-door ground-opening bypass-valve (2533GM).
   (2) Remove the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN (2) from the NLG door uplock-assembly (2534GM).

G. Check of the NLG-Door Ground-Opening Control-Unit
   (1) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the NLG doors.
   (2) Pressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-863-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-863-001).
   (3) Remove the safety pin (38) and operate the ground door-opening handle (39) to do five NLG DOOR CLOSE/DOOR OPEN cycles at a very low speed (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001) to bleed the hydraulic system.
   (4) During these operations, make sure that all the control components move freely and do not touch or rub against the structure.
   (5) Put the ground door-opening handle (39) in the OPEN position.
   (6) Install the safety pin (38) on the ground door-opening handle (39).
   (7) Make sure that the uplock hook of the NLG door uplock-assembly (2534GM) is in the open position.
   (8) Depressurize the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001).

H. Connection of the Control Rod
   (1) Connect the lower attachment of the control rod (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-41-400-001).

I. Protection of the Fasteners
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) on the head of the bolts (19), (44), (24) and (41).
   (2) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) on the nuts (15), (23), (29) and (34).

J. Preparation for Test
   (1) Make sure that the travel range of the NLG doors is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).

K. Test of the Door Ground-Opening Control-Unit
   (1) Do a full NLG DOOR CLOSE/DOOR OPEN cycle on the ground (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001) .
   (2) During this test, make sure that the components operate correctly.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) In the avionics compartment, install the floor panel 127BG (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-13-400-001).
   (3) Close the access door 811.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (6) De-energize the ground service network
   (7) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
