Installation of the NLG Lower Electrical Harness


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

3. Job Set-up

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are de-energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (2) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position:
  • on the panel 400VU, to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever,
  • on the NWS handwheels and the rudder pedals to tell persons not to operate them.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-43-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: FOR SAFETY STAND AFT OF THE GEAR LEG WHEN YOU OPERATE THE GROUND OPENING CONTROL OF THE DOOR. CAREFULLY READ THE PLACARD ON THE LEG DOOR BEFORE YOU OPEN THE NOSE GEAR DOORS.
A. Installation of the Lower Harness:
F NLG - Lower Electrical Harness ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
NOTE: Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the electrical connectors immediately before you connect them.
NOTE: Apply a layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of all the nuts and bolts before you install them.
   (1) Hold the lower harness (23) in position and:
     (a) Install the electrical connectors (18) in the axle.
     (b) Install the casing (19). Install the screw (9) and the washer (8). Install the washer (20) and the nut (21).
     (c) Safety the nut (21) with the new AIPC 32-21-11-35-080 COTTER PIN (22).
     (d) Connect the electrical connector (7) with the counterplate (6) and the screws (1).
     (e) Install the clamp (4) and the screw (5).
     (f) Install the washer (3) and the nut (2).
     (g) Connect the electrical connectors (18) to the electrical plugs on the support (13).
     (h) Install the support (13).
     (i) Install the bolts (17), the washers (16) and the nuts (15).
     (j) Safety the nuts (15) with the new
AIPC 32-21-13-12-060 COTTER PINS (14).
     (k) Install the cover (10).
     (l) Install the screws (11) and the washers (12).
     (m) Tighten the screws (11) and safety them with the lockwire corrosion resistant steel dia. 0.8 mm (0.032 in).
Subtask 32-21-43-420-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Lower Harness (with TPIS)
   (1) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
   (2) Apply a layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of the nuts (14) and (2) and the screws (9), (1) and (5).
   (3) Hold the lower harness (16) in position and:
     (a) Install the electrical connectors (11) in the axle.
     (b) Install the casing (12), the washer (8), the screw (9), the washer (13) and the nut (14).
     (c) Safety the nut (14) with the new AIPC 32-21-11-35-075 COTTER PIN (15).
     (d) Connect the electrical connector (7) with the counterplate (6) and the screw (1).
     (e) Install the clamp (4) and the screw (5).
     (f) Install the washer (3) and the nut (2).
     (g) Install the rotating mechanism (10) (
Ref. AMM D/O 32-49-17-40).

B. Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the nose wheel steering (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-00-710-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 32-21-43-942-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (3) Remove the safety devices from the landing gears (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-081-001).
   (4) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
