Removal of the NLG Lockstay Assy


WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-21-17-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001)
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Green hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
   (3) Lift the aircraft with jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • on the panel 40VU in the cockpit,
  • on the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, access door (197CB).
   (3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (4) Obey the applicable safety precautions before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001)
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001)
   (3) Lift the aircraft with jacks (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).

D. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the panel 40VU in the cockpit,
  • on the ground service panel of the Yellow hydraulic system, access door (196BB).
   (3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (4) Obey the applicable safety precautions before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001).

F. Get Access
   (1) Open the doors of the nose landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position below the lockstay assembly in zone 123.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-17-020-051-B
A. Removal of the Lockstay Assembly
   (1) Remove the lock springs (Ref. AMM TASK 32-21-18-000-001).
   (2) Remove the NLG down-lock proximity-sensors 18GA (system 1) and 19GA (system 2) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-73-000-005).
   (3) Remove the nut (31), washer (30) and screw (26). Release the clamps (27) and (29) from the bracket (28).
   (4) Remove and discard the cotter pin (12).
   (5) Remove the nut (13) and washer (14).
   (6) Pull the bolt (24) and release the actuator (15).
   (7) Remove the washer (16).
   (8) Remove and discard the cotter pin (22).
   (9) Remove the nut (21) and washer (20).
   (10) Remove the bolt (17), washer (18) and disengage the lockstay assembly (23) from the drag strut.
   (11) Make sure that the lockstay assembly does not hit the gear leg.
   (12) Remove and discard the cotter pin (6).
   (13) Remove the nut (7) and washer (5).
   (14) Remove the screw (1), bushing (4) and washer (2).
   (15) Remove the ring (3) and release the actuator (8) from the pin (10).
   (16) Remove the pin (10) with the J47558 EXTRACTOR. Remove the washer (25) and spacer (11).
   (17) Remove the lockstay assembly (23).
   (18) Remove the D23080000 PIN-GROUND LOCK,NLG or MZ23080000 PIN-LOCKING as an alternative.
