A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
Subtask 32-31-73-010-052-A (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
- make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear or the landing gear doors.
B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable zone 123 (124).
(2) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(3) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door.
Subtask 32-31-73-869-054-A (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable zone 123 (124).
(2) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(3) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door.
C. Flight Configuration Precautions
(1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to open the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.
Subtask 32-31-73-865-054-A (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to open the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

A. Removal of the NLG Proximity-Sensors
(1) For NLG door-closed proximity-sensors 30GA and 31GA, do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the position of the applicable proximity sensor (128) before you remove it.
(e) Remove the nuts (125) and the bolts (127).
(f) Remove the applicable proximity sensor (128) from the NLG door uplock.
(2) For NLG uplock proximity-sensor 13GA (12GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the position of the proximity sensor (128) before you remove it.
(e) Remove the nuts (125) and the bolts (127).
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (128) from the NLG uplock.
(3) For NLG downlock proximity-sensors 19GA (18GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the positions of the proximity sensor (145) and the target (149) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the nuts (144), the washers (143) and the bolts (146). If the shim is installed, remove it.
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (145) from the sensor mounting bracket.
(g) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the sensor mounting bracket.
(h) If it is necessary to remove the target (149), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the bolts (148).
3 Remove the bolts (148), the washers (147) and the target (149). If the shim is installed, remove it.
(i) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the target mounting bracket.
(4) For NLG extension proximity-sensor 24GA (25GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the position of the proximity sensor (153) and the target (154) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the bolts (152), the nuts (150) and the washers (151).
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (153) from the sensor mounting bracket.
(g) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the sensor mounting bracket.
(h) If it is necessary to remove the target (154), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(i) Remove the target (154) from the target mounting bracket.
(5) For NLG door-open proximity-sensors 37GA (38GA) and 39GA (36GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the positions of the applicable proximity sensor (135) and the related target (140) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the nuts (134), the washers (133) and the bolts (136).
(f) Remove the applicable proximity sensor (135) from the related sensor mounting sensor.
(g) If it is necessary to remove the target (140), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(h) Remove the target (140) from the target mounting bracket.
Subtask 32-31-73-020-058-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) For NLG door-closed proximity-sensors 30GA and 31GA, do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (127)
- The nuts (125).
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the position of the applicable proximity sensor (128) before you remove it.
(e) Remove the nuts (125) and the bolts (127).
(f) Remove the applicable proximity sensor (128) from the NLG door uplock.
(2) For NLG uplock proximity-sensor 13GA (12GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (127)
- The nuts (125).
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the position of the proximity sensor (128) before you remove it.
(e) Remove the nuts (125) and the bolts (127).
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (128) from the NLG uplock.
(3) For NLG downlock proximity-sensors 19GA (18GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (146)
- The nuts (144).
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the positions of the proximity sensor (145) and the target (149) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the nuts (144), the washers (143) and the bolts (146). If the shim is installed, remove it.
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (145) from the sensor mounting bracket.
(g) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the sensor mounting bracket.
(h) If it is necessary to remove the target (149), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the bolts (148).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
2 Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (148).3 Remove the bolts (148), the washers (147) and the target (149). If the shim is installed, remove it.
(i) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the target mounting bracket.
(4) For NLG extension proximity-sensor 24GA (25GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (152)
- The nuts (150).
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the position of the proximity sensor (153) and the target (154) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the bolts (152), the nuts (150) and the washers (151).
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (153) from the sensor mounting bracket.
(g) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the sensor mounting bracket.
(h) If it is necessary to remove the target (154), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (155)
- The nuts (157).
(i) Remove the target (154) from the target mounting bracket.
(5) For NLG door-open proximity-sensors 37GA (38GA) and 39GA (36GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (136)
- The nuts (134).
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the positions of the applicable proximity sensor (135) and the related target (140) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the nuts (134), the washers (133) and the bolts (136).
(f) Remove the applicable proximity sensor (135) from the related sensor mounting sensor.
(g) If it is necessary to remove the target (140), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (141)
- The nuts (138).
(h) Remove the target (140) from the target mounting bracket.
A. Removal of the NLG Proximity-Sensors
(1) For NLG door-closed proximity-sensors 30GA and 31GA, do the steps that follow:
(a) Disconnect the electrical connector (126) from the applicable proximity sensor (128).
(b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(c) Identify the position of the applicable proximity sensor (128) before you remove it.
(d) Remove the nuts (125) and the bolts (127).
(e) Remove the applicable proximity sensor (128) from the NLG door uplock.
(2) For NLG uplock proximity-sensor 13GA (12GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Disconnect the electrical connector (126) from the proximity sensor (128).
(b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(c) Identify the position of the proximity sensor (128) before you remove it.
(d) Remove the nuts (125) and the bolts (127).
(e) Remove the proximity sensor (128) from the NLG uplock.
(3) For NLG downlock proximity-sensors 19GA (18GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the positions of the proximity sensor (145) and the target (149) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the nuts (144), the washers (143) and the bolts (146). If the shim is installed, remove it.
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (145) from the sensor mounting bracket.
(g) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the sensor mounting bracket.
(h) If it is necessary to remove the target (149), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the bolts (148).
3 Remove the bolts (148), the washers (147) and the target (149). If the shim is installed, remove it.
(i) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the target mounting bracket.
(4) For NLG extension proximity-sensor 24GA (25GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the position of the proximity sensor (153) and the target (154) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the bolts (152), the nuts (150) and the washers (151).
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (153) from the sensor mounting bracket.
(g) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the sensor mounting bracket.
(h) If it is necessary to remove the target (154), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(i) Remove the target (154) from the target mounting bracket.
(5) For NLG door-open proximity-sensors 37GA (38GA) and 39GA (36GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the positions of the applicable proximity sensor (135) and the related target (140) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the nuts (134), the washers (133) and the bolts (136).
(f) Remove the applicable proximity sensor (135) from the related sensor mounting sensor.
(g) If it is necessary to remove the target (140), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
(h) Remove the target (140) from the target mounting bracket.
(1) For NLG door-closed proximity-sensors 30GA and 31GA, do the steps that follow:
(a) Disconnect the electrical connector (126) from the applicable proximity sensor (128).
(b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(c) Identify the position of the applicable proximity sensor (128) before you remove it.
(d) Remove the nuts (125) and the bolts (127).
(e) Remove the applicable proximity sensor (128) from the NLG door uplock.
(2) For NLG uplock proximity-sensor 13GA (12GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Disconnect the electrical connector (126) from the proximity sensor (128).
(b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(c) Identify the position of the proximity sensor (128) before you remove it.
(d) Remove the nuts (125) and the bolts (127).
(e) Remove the proximity sensor (128) from the NLG uplock.
(3) For NLG downlock proximity-sensors 19GA (18GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (146)
- The nuts (144).
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the positions of the proximity sensor (145) and the target (149) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the nuts (144), the washers (143) and the bolts (146). If the shim is installed, remove it.
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (145) from the sensor mounting bracket.
(g) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the sensor mounting bracket.
(h) If it is necessary to remove the target (149), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the bolts (148).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
2 Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (148).3 Remove the bolts (148), the washers (147) and the target (149). If the shim is installed, remove it.
(i) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the target mounting bracket.
(4) For NLG extension proximity-sensor 24GA (25GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (152)
- The nuts (150).
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the position of the proximity sensor (153) and the target (154) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the bolts (152), the nuts (150) and the washers (151).
(f) Remove the proximity sensor (153) from the sensor mounting bracket.
(g) If the shim is installed, identify the position of the shim and keep it with the sensor mounting bracket.
(h) If it is necessary to remove the target (154), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (155)
- The nuts (157).
(i) Remove the target (154) from the target mounting bracket.
(5) For NLG door-open proximity-sensors 37GA (38GA) and 39GA (36GA), do the steps that follow:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (136)
- The nuts (134).
(c) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(d) Identify the positions of the applicable proximity sensor (135) and the related target (140) before you remove them.
(e) Remove the nuts (134), the washers (133) and the bolts (136).
(f) Remove the applicable proximity sensor (135) from the related sensor mounting sensor.
(g) If it is necessary to remove the target (140), do the steps that follow:
1 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from:
- The bolts (141)
- The nuts (138).
(h) Remove the target (140) from the target mounting bracket.
