Servicing of the Rain Repellent System

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS RELATED TO THE WEATHER RADAR ARE OPENED, SAFETIED AND TAGGED.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLUID DOES NOT STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE, WASH IT OFF IMMEDIATELY WITH SOAP AND WATER.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY THE RAIN REPELLENT FLUID ON A DRY SURFACE.

To purge the rain repellent system for a long period aircraft storage, you can do this procedure as an alternative to the task 30-45-00-600-802-A.

A. Cleaning Instructions
   (1) Make sure that the fluid does not stay on the aircraft furnishing.
   (2) If the fluid gets on the aircraft furnishings, clean it with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .

D. On [21VU] and [22VU] put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the rain repellent pushbutton-switches.
4. Procedure

A. Preparation
   (1) Connect a HOSE - DRAIN to the drain valve (5) of the rain-repellent fluid-gage assembly (4).
   (2) Put the hose outlet in a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL).

B. Removal of the Rain Repellent Fluid Can
   (1) Remove the clamp (2).
   (2) Loosen and remove the can (1).
   (3) Remove and discard the seal (3).
   (4) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.

C. Depressurization of the System
   (1) Push the pushbutton switch (6) to depressurize the system.
   (2) Make sure that no more rain repellent fluid comes out from the hose end.

D. Removal of the Rain-Repellent Solenoid Valve and Check Valve
   (1) Remove the rain-repellent solenoid valve (Ref. AMM TASK 30-45-41-000-001) and send it to the shop for cleaning.
   (2) Remove the rain-repellent check valve (Ref. AMM TASK 30-45-46-000-001)
   (3) Immerse the rain-repellent check valve in Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (4) Use a BRUSH - BRISTLED to remove all contamination from the rain-repellent check valve.
   (5) Clean the rain-repellent check valve with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (6) Dry each part with a AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY.

E. Removal of the Rain Repellent Fluid
   (1) Connect a hose of the 98F30403000000 RAIN REPELLENT SYSTEM to the disconnected line ends of the solenoid valves in place of the PLUG - BLANKING.
   (2) Put the hose outlet in a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL).
   (3) Connect a pressure source to the top part of the rain-repellent fluid-gage assembly (4).
   (4) Pressurize the rain-repellent fluid-gage assembly (4) to between 29 psi (2 bar) and 43.50 psi (3 bar).
NOTE: Pressurize the rain-repellent fluid-gage assembly (4) the time necessary to remove the fluid remaining in the system.
   (5) Disconnect the pressure source from the top part of the rain-repellent fluid-gage assembly (4).
   (6) Remove the hose from the drain valve (5).
   (7) Remove the rain-repellent fluid-gage assembly (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 30-45-43-000-001) and send it to the shop for cleaning.
   (8) Put the funnel of the 98F30403000000 RAIN REPELLENT SYSTEM in place of the rain-repellent fluid-gage assembly (4), at the top part of the disconnected line ends.
   (9) Flush the inner part of the lines with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) or an equivalent cleaning agent and dry with the compressed air.
   (10) Disconnect the hose from the disconnected line ends of the solenoid valves.
   (11) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (12) Remove the blanking plug (9) from the top part of the blowout reservoir (8).
   (13) Connect a pressure source to the top part of the blowout reservoir (8).
   (14) Pressurize the blowout reservoir (8) to 4.38 psi (0.30 bar) with 98F30403000000 RAIN REPELLENT SYSTEM.
   (15) Make sure that air goes out from the nozzles (7).
NOTE: You can use water with soap.
   (16) Disconnect the pressure source from the blowout reservoir (8).
   (17) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
   (18) Remove all the parts of the 98F30403000000 RAIN REPELLENT SYSTEM.
   (19) Install the rain-repellent fluid-gage assembly (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 30-45-43-400-001).

   (1) Install the check valves (Ref. AMM TASK 30-45-46-400-001).
   (2) Install the solenoid valves (Ref. AMM TASK 30-45-41-400-001).
5. Close-up
