3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-31-00-010-050-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Open the access door for the reservoir it is necessary to deactivate
     (a) For the Green reservoir:
NOTE: You can open one of the two doors, but access is good from the RH side.
     (b) For the Blue reservoir:
  • Open the access door 197FB.
   (2) Do the troubleshooting procedure to check if the fault of the quantity indicator is electrical or mechanical:

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-31-00-040-053-A
A. Deactivation of the Reservoir Quantity Indication of the Green and Blue Hydraulic Systems
   (1) Disconnect the applicable electrical connector 1000GQ-A or 2000GQ-A from the quantity transmitter of the related reservoir.
   (2) Install a CAP - PROTECTION in the connector and the receptacle.
   (3) Use a TIE WRAP(S) and secure the cable to a part of the structure.
NOTE: Attach the cable to the structure so that the disconnected end of the connector points down. Oil or other liquids can not then enter the connector.
Subtask 29-31-00-040-050-A
B. Electrical Failure of the Quantity Indicator
   (1) Examine the mechanical indicator on the applicable reservoir to check the quantity of the hydraulic fluid. Do this before each flight.
   (2) Do a check of the LO LVL ECAM warning. Do this check only before the first flight of the aircraft under this MMEL item.
     (a) Make sure that the aircraft configuration is:
1 For deactivation of the Green reservoir indication:
  • The landing gear extended with the landing gear doors closed (one main door of the main gear can be open)
  • The thrust reverser for the left engine is off (closed)
  • The speedbrakes and the spoilers are retracted
  • Green power accumulator empty of fluid and filled with nitrogen to the correct pressure.
2 For deactivation of the Blue reservoir indication:
  • The speedbrakes and the spoilers are retracted
  • Blue power accumulator empty of fluid and filled with nitrogen to the correct pressure.
3 Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
4 Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
5 Drain the applicable reservoir until the low level warning comes on (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-680-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-680-003). Keep the air pressure in the reservoir at more than 22 psig (1.5 bar relative) while you drain the reservoir.
6 Put fluid into the reservoir to fill it to its correct fill level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
7 Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
8 De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
9 Make an entry in the logbook.
Subtask 29-31-00-040-055-A
C. Mechanical Failure of the Quantity Indicator
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft configuration is:
     (a) For deactivation of the Green reservoir indication:
  • The landing gear extended with the landing gear doors closed (one main door of the main gear can be open)
  • The thrust reverser for the left engine is off (closed)
  • The speedbrakes and the spoilers are retracted
  • Green power accumulator empty of fluid and filled with nitrogen to the correct pressure.
     (b) For deactivation of the Blue reservoir indication:
  • The speedbrakes and the spoilers are retracted
  • Blue power accumulator empty of fluid and filled with nitrogen to the correct pressure.
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (4) Drain the applicable reservoir until the low level warning comes on (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-680-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-680-003). Keep the air pressure in the reservoir at more than 22 psig (1.5 bar relative) while you drain the reservoir.
   (5) Put fluid into the reservoir to fill it to its correct fill level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
The quantity of fluid which is necessary to add is:
  • For the Green reservoir: 11 l (2.9 USgal)
  • For the Blue reservoir: 4 l (1.05 USgal).
NOTE: These quantities are for fluid temperatures between 10 and 20 deg. C (50 and 68 deg. F). If the temperature is not in these limits, the quantity of fluid necessary changes by:
  • 0.5 l (0.13 USgal) for each 10 deg. C (18 deg. F) for the Green reservoir
  • 0.25 l (0.065 USgal) for each 10 deg. C (18 deg. F) for the Blue reservoir.
   (6) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (7) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
   (8) Make an entry in the logbook.
