A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Make sure that the Air Data/Inertial Reference System (ADIRS) operates (Ref. AMM TASK 34-10-00-860-002).
NOTE: Set only the OFF/NAV/ATT selector switch of CDU/ADIRU 1 to NAV position.
   (4) Do the P.F.D. part of the E.I.S. start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE RAT TRAVEL RANGE IS CLEAR BEFORE YOU EXTEND/RETRACT THE RAT.
A. Operational Test of the Automatic Deployment of the RAT
NOTE: Make sure that a second person is in position to observe the extension of the RAT before you open the circuit breakers 9XE and 11XE.

1.Do the procedure to get access to the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST NAV page (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-010).

2.On the MCDU:
  • push the line key NAV.
  • the MCDU shows the NAV menu.

7.On the panel 122VU:

  • open the circuit breaker 9XE
  • the solenoid 1 of the RAT is still not energized

  • the rat does not extend
  • close the circuit breaker 9XE
  • the solenoid 1 of the RAT is still not energized

  • the rat does not extend
  • 0pen the circuit breaker 11XE
  • the solenoid 1 of the RAT is still not energized

  • the rat does not extend
  • close the circuit breaker 11XE
  • the solenoid 1 of the RAT is still not energized

  • the rat does not extend
NOTE: - If the RAT extends as soon as the circuit breaker 9XE is opened, replace the relay 17XE.
- If the RAT extends as soon as the circuit breaker 11XE is opened, replace the relay 18XE.
8.On the panel 122VU:

  • open the circuit breakers 9XE and 11XE.
  • solenoid 1 of the RAT is energized.

  • the RAT extends.
NOTE: Do not operate the RAT deployment solenoids for more than 60 seconds. You can operate the solenoids more than once during the test. When the time of operation (solenoids energized) is max. 60 seconds, you must let the solenoids cool for 30 minutes.
9.On the panel 122VU:

  • close the circuit breakers 9XE and 11XE.

10.After RAT extension:
On the CAPT PFD:
  • push the line key RETURN/TEST STOP on the MCDU.
  • the CAS indication goes back to initial value,
  • the test procedure stops.
11.On the ADIRS CDU:

  • set the OFF/NAV/ATT selector switch to OFF position.

12.On the MCDU, push the line select key adjacent to the RETURN indication until the CFDS menu page comes into view.

NOTE: Make sure that a second person is in position to observe the extension of the RAT before you open the circuit breakers 9XE and 11XE.

B. Protection of the RAT Blades from Corrosion
NOTE: The following procedure is not necessary but Airbus recommends this step to prevent corrosion of RAT blades.
   (1) Apply protection on the RAT blades to prevent corrosion (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-916-801).

5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
   (2) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (3) Do the ADIRS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 34-10-00-860-005).
   (4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the door of the RAT ground control panel 3GE.
   (3) Close the access doors 197EB and 195BB.
   (4) Remove the safety barriers.
